He laughed at her words, not believing that Zoe was serious about her friend holding her at gunpoint over a pair of shoes. “That’s a li’l extreme, isn’t it?”
He said, still smirking. He may have sought out El’s help for tonight, but there wasn’t exactly much to choose from in his wardrobe and he didn’t think that Ellie felt the need to fuss over his hair or his shoes as much as girls felt they needed to do with each other. Though, to be honest, he thought that Ellie already classed him as a lost battle. His hair was always going to be messy, there was always going to be a packet of cigarettes somewhere on his body and he would always change into his football shirt the second he was done for the day. “And it’s working.” He whispered in her ear, stooping down so that his nose was buried in her soft hair. He loved rendering her speechless and seeing that blush flood her cheeks whenever he complimented her. It was sweet, endearing and just made him fall for her that little bit more each time. He loved that she wasn’t some bold city girl who could handle compliments like they were tossed her way every day. He liked that he could catch her off guard and he enjoyed it when she was at a loss for words, but there was a smile dancing on her enticing lips. It was one of the cutest things about her. One kiss wasn’t enough. He knew the second their lips separated that he wanted more. He was glad that he hadn’t kissed her that night in her apartment, because it wouldn’t have had the magic of now. He smiled against her lips and kissed her again, holding her close as his lips brushed against hers slowly, savouring this moment as Romeo reminded himself that this was actually happening, that this wasn’t some dream that he’d be shook from by the sound of his alarm. He actually had Zoe in his arms and her lips against his. He pulled away when he needed air, but rested his forehead against hers, that smile still present on his lips as he brushed the hair from her eyes again. “I’ve wanted t’ kiss y’ for the longest time.” He confessed in a breathy whisper, pecking her lips again and then leaning back slightly to give her a bit more room to move in his arms. Romeo didn’t let her go; he couldn’t. Now she was in his arms he wanted her to stay there and not just for tonight, though it was the closest thing to perfect he had ever experienced. IN FRONT OF HER APARTMENT
The lovesick smile was still on her face as she sat in the passenger seat of Romeo's car, her hand woven with his between them. Soon, he'd be dropping her off at her apartment, but she didn't care. For now, everything was perfect; it was just the two of them together. What if it didn't have to end so sooon, though... Neither of them seemed to have to be up for something in the morning, from what Romeo was saying earlier, and Zoe knew she was free until the evening when work would need her. So why did it have to end so early in the night? Looking across at him, she contemplated asking him to stay. Nothing physical would be happening, of course, but surely movies and cuddling wouldn't be against some law. The problem was gathering up the courage to ask him to.
"I had fun tonight," she smiled gently, giving his hand a light squeeze and leaning over to kiss his cheek once the car was parked outside her building. If she was going to ask him to stay the night, it was now or never. If she did it in the hallway in front of her apartment, surely everyone around her would suspect that the innocent Miss Tylers wasn't going to be innocent for long. Eyes skiddering away from him, Zoe blurted out the words before she could even begin thinking about what they suggested or how they could be taken. "Why don't you... I mean... would ya like come upstairs fer a bit? I've got hot choclate and some cookies. We could watch a movie or two?" her voice was nervous, fidgety; she didn't know if he'd answer with a yes. Honestly, questions like that usually meant sex, which was the last thing on her mind for the moment. She only wanted to spend more time with him, enjoy another night falling asleep in his warm embrace.
Looking up at him with her now pleading eyes, Zoe kept a tight hold of his hand, wanting so much for him to say yes to her. This may be one of the only nights where they had the opportunity for this. Right now, school, siblings, work; none of it was interfering. They had the perfect chance to enjoy each other a little longer before reality brought them back into her cruel clutches.

It had been an amazing date and Romeo was sad to admit that it was coming to an end so soon. Time had ticked by and the hour was getting late, but it seemed as though it was too perfect to just stop with a goodnight kiss and a parting of the ways. He didn’t want anything physical or seedy like some city guys might expect; he had been there, done that and there was nothing rewarding about it and the enjoyment was only temporary. With Zoe, he was happier with an innocent kiss and a smile on his face for days to come. Still, he didn’t want to say goodbye to her though, not yet. All good things come to an end, but this date had been more than ‘good’. It had been incredible and Romeo didn’t even understand why. They hadn’t done anything extraordinary or life changing, but there was something about being with Zoe that just made him feel as though he was walking on air and it was a feeling that he didn’t want to lose.
He turned the engine off as he parked safely outside of her apartment building. He could walk her to her door and savour their final moments together before they had to return to their realities where dancing in Central Park was not a regular occurrence. He smiled at her when she spoke and squeezed her hand back. “Me too, love.”
He couldn’t wait for the next chance he had to take Zoe out, but he knew it wasn’t that simple when their lives were so busy with school, work and younger siblings who needed attention too. Plus, he had spent most of his spare wages on tonight to make it special. His smile only grew as she asked her nervous question. He knew she only meant it innocently and he was fine with that. He wasn’t dating her just to get her into a bed. Romeo didn’t see Zoe like that. He reached over and tucked a rough finger under her chin to raise her head so that he could lean across the gears and kiss her sweetly, hoping that she would realise this kiss meant that he understood what she was asking him; there were no innuendos behind the words. “I’d love t’ come up.” He said with his infamous lopsided smirk. Romeo pulled the keys from the ignition as more of a final decision before squeezing Zoe’s hand again, reluctantly letting go so that they could both climb out of his dark blue Mini. The night air was still fresh, but it seemed about right for them to retreat indoors now and he could barely keep the small smile from his lips knowing that he got to spend more time with Zoe now. Cuddles, hot chocolate and movies sounded like the perfect end to this night and he was only sorry that he hadn’t thought of the idea himself.
