Their situation was one that hardly got thought about in comparison to the glamour of Broadway and the dazzle of that spotlight that Bella craved. One of them had to be stable, set permanently in New York now that Laurence was attending school there and would make New York his home until at least he was eighteen. If Bella was away working, Marc would have to make sure that child care was in place for the few late nights he had to lecture. Sure, Laurence could sit and do homework in his office or something, but Marc wanted them to find a routine that worked, especially when Bella was away. With the time off she had now she had been doing a great job of playing mom, but he wanted to show her that he had everything in hand so that she could leave and follow her dreams from time to time. He was settled, prepared to spend his days with computers and New York had plenty of opportunities for him even if he did get bored of his current position as a professor.
He threw her a shocked look and then laughed, shaking his head and pinching her side again. “I think my work colleagues have better opinions of me zhan as a manwhore!”
He joked. Bella may have been of a similar age to some of the people he taught, but that didn’t mean he was some kind of predator who would hunt them if he wasn’t already madly in love with Bella. He had his own set of ethics and morals to abide by and lusting after his own students was definitely a big ‘no-no’ on his list. Narrowing his eyes, he shot Bella a look that could only be described as offended. Laurence may like the place, but it wasn’t up to the six year old where they would call home…and if it was, they’d probably end up in a bouncy castle on a boat or something of the like. “No using zee child against me.” He told her, wagging his finger as though he was scolding her. “’Ee vill not sway me, Bella.” He promised, shaking his head again before looking around the penthouse she had her heart set on. Laurence may not have swayed his decision, but Bella’s love for this place certainly pulled on his heartstrings and pushed him that little bit closer to surrendering to her wishes. He laughed heartily and then pulled her closer, pressing his lips to her forehead lovingly. “No matter vhere ve live zhere vill alvays be nosey neighbours.” He told her, smiling affectionately down at her. The place certainly was lovely to look at and it did look spacious enough for the three of them and any potential mess that Laurence might make outside of school term, or Marc might leave when he was in the middle of building or upgrading one of the many gadgets they owned between them. Gemma would also have plenty of space to stretch her paws in when they were all out at school or work. He had yet to find an actual flaw in the place that he could call Bella out upon, though he did search for something. A soft groan slipped past his lips as she kissed them and her words became a visual image within his mind. “You are a tease. Eet eez unfair to try and sway me zhis vay.” He said, wrapping his arms around her waist and holding her close to him. He dipped his head to kiss her a little more deeply than was probably acceptable for a viewing, but he didn’t care. If this place was to be their home… “So long as I can have zee den you promised and change the color scheme in ‘ere, you can tell zee nice man zhat ‘ee can draw up zee papers.” He whispered against her neck before planting an innocent kiss on the column of flesh. It was wrong of her to be teasing and hinting at things that were not appropriate for Laurence at all. And Bella knew it. But, that didn't mean she was about to stop it, either. Besides, she was innocently playing around with her boyfriend, something she missed now that they were both running around like maniacs. It was also softening him up for her begging about the apartment. She knew all would be forgiven in the end, even if Marc ended up saying an undebatable no, and it sure as heck made these viewings more bearable when they could get some fun out of it. Though, that fun would probably result in some serious adult time before bed.
Bella rose one groomed eyebrow at him, smirking to hide a laugh as he pinched her. "That's only because you don't let me come visit enough," she teased, the lust in her eyes now. The last thing on her mind was to ruin his reputation at work, but, the idea of making out in an office did have its perks, especially since she'd recently gotten out of college herself. It'd be wrong though. And irresponsible. And so much friggin' fun.
Laurence did have his uses, as Bella was beginning to discover. She liked the kid, nonetheless, and would never use him in a bad way. But, this was kind of up to him, too, even if he was only six and couldn't entirely process the situation. If he didn't like the house, it'd be a bit wrong to force him into it, especially since they'd probably be there for a while. "Who said I was using him against you? I'm only using him to my advantage," she replied innocently, giving him a pretty smile as he "scolded" her. "Whatever you say, petite amie." Bella shook her head at him in return, biting her lip to keep in a laugh. She knew how to get what she wanted with him; heck, she'd learned how to do that after a few months of them dating. His son just happened to be a nice second pair of puppy-dog eyes to help her.
"But not all of them have gnomes," she pouted back, smiling back at him soon after and reaching up to peck his lips. "Just give the place a chance, please?" Ah, finally, the puppy dog eyes came into play. Bella gave him that look she reserved for special occasions such as these, her lip jutting out to complete the pleading face. She'd get over it if he said no but, until then, she'd fight her hardest and pull out any weapon she needed to.
The reason Bella loved the place so much was because she could see it as her and Marc's. True, their old apartment had been "theirs" too, but, this place... this was what she imagined coming home to every night, not a tiny place they'd quickly had to find a few months before moving. This penthouse had everything; a large kitchen, a family room, enough bedrooms for them, and space for everyone plus a few more. To her, it was better than any of the suburb houses she'd been dragged through recently. Now, if only Marc saw it that way.
She couldn't hide a giggle this time as he groaned. The picture was a perfect one; and one she was hoping to make come true in the very near future. Bella ran one of her hands through his hair, playing with the curls and smiling brightly. "So you don't like it?" she asked, smirking teasingly now. Before she could say another word, his lips were on hers again, taking her breath away within seconds. This wasn't exactly the right time for a kiss like that, but she definitely wasn't complaining.
If his lips still hadn't been pressed to her skin, Bella was positive she would've screamed with joy. As it was, she pulled back a bit, the biggest grin on her face now as she looked up at him. "Really?! You're sure?" she laughed, kissing him lovingly. The smile on her lips was the largest it'd been in a long time, and it felt good. For a second, it was like their lives were back to how it had been; just the two of them against the world.

He was a father now, but he was still young and so was Bella. He was still caught up in what people might call ‘young love’ and he couldn’t be expected to play responsibly all of the time, especially not when Bella appeared to be in this mood. It wasn’t like he could ignore her or pretend that there was something else he would prefer to be doing because that would be a lie and Marc hated lying to anyone, specially of all Bella. Marc looked down at her and quirked his own eyebrows in return to hers. “You ‘ave vork and so do I. If you visited me all of zee time zhen neither of us would be employed for very long, I am sure of eet.”
He joked, but seriously understanding just how distracted he would be if Bella visited him for lunch most days. He’d never get any of his work done in the free hours he had and there would be more paperwork coming home than he’d ever know what to do with. He narrowed his eyes at his girlfriend and folded his arms across his chest. Marc wouldn’t stand a chance if he had two sets of puppy dog eyes set on him. It was tough enough trying to resist Bella’s and Laurence had the big brown eyes that he could hardly ever say no to, even when he was trying to be a strict and serious parent. The last thing he needed was for Laurence to figure out his father’s weakness, though he was certain that with Bella around, it would only be a matter of time before the clever six year old figured it out. “Eet eez zee same thing.” Marc insisted, waving her argument away with a flick of his wrist, the links of his watch making a clicking noise at the fast movement. “Not all suburban homes have gnomes. Eet doesn’t go hand in hand with nosiness.” He told bella as though she was a little insane. In fact, he had never seen an apartment with gnomes before, but there was always a chance for a first and New York was full of surprises, as he had learnt so far. However, one thing he did know was that as soon as they found a place to call their home, he was planning on buying a gnome and placing it in the pride of their place, possibly on a shelf where Bella would always see him. After this discussion, he felt like he kind of had to. “Fine, I vill.” Marc smiled at Bella’s excited reaction. He loved seeing her so happy and excited and if this place would put her in a good mood then he was more than happy to put pen to paper and make this whole thing official. He couldn’t deny that the place was gorgeous and it really was in a perfect place in regards to school and work for them all. So maybe it wasn’t the suburbs or the quaint little home he imagined, but it was ‘them’. In fact, it was the best place he had seen so far that fitted their needs and their likes. “Oui, now go ahead and tell ‘im zhat ve vill take zhis place before ‘ee wonders vhere ve have gotten to and before I feel zee need to really make ‘im wonder that.” He didn’t know when they would be able to move in to this place, but he already wanted to do things in the bedroom that might harm their chances of being allowed to buy any property in the city.
