Leander smirked as he saw the realization spread over her face, trying to hold his chuckle in. "You're right, I'd love it," he answered, laughing right along with her. His eyebrows shot up at her next words, the lust darkening his eyes for a few seconds as the picture shot through his mind. Shaking his head slightly to get rid of the distracting idea, he said, "You know exactly what would happen, doll." Smiling once again, Leander hugged her closer to his side and continued to weave through the sea of people. They all seemed so focused and serious compared to the spectacle he and Jay were making. Kissing in the middle of the sidewalk, teasing and laughing every five seconds; they must've looked like teenagers to the rest of the world. But, honestly, he didn't care. He was with Jay and they were about to go enjoy an entire afternoon together. Nothing could ruin that mood.
"But you know I don't like waiting," he whined back mockingly, pinching her side lightly. She had him intrigued now that she was still not telling him. Leander wanted to know what this big secret was, but he respected her choice to keep it until the right moment. He'd done the same thing with date nights, so he couldn't get angry at her. Besides, it was fun teasing her and prying.
Smirking once again, he bent down and whispered in her ear, "Maybe I'll end up in that paper bag." It was true that he'd be right behind her cleaning up whatever she made a mess with, but that was only because he couldn't stand anything out of place. Leander knew he was anal about it, but he could blame his sister for the pristine condition of his apartment. Everything was shiny, in place, and disinfected especially for her, just like their parents' home was. But, that didn't mean he couldn't have fun with Jay for awhile and worry about the mess later. Besides, he loved her; messes and all. "I'm open to anything not totally gross sounding. But no nuts; I hate those," he shrugged back at her. Being a cook, he wasn't too picky about food, though he wasn't the biggest fan of nuts of any kind. "You're letting me pay for the groceries, right?"

“I know exactly what would happen, love. It’s why I suggested it,” she said, looking as innocent as she possibly could. She was quite the actress when she wanted to be. It had gotten her and her best friend out of some of the many situations they’d found themselves in after a night on the town. Jay was a good girl… for the most part, but whenever either she or Coop needed to let off a little steam, they always somehow managed to get themselves in and back out of trouble. Jay practically burrowed into Leander’s side, to keep herself moving with the flow of people.
Jack came perilously close to squealing in the middle of the New York City street, with hundreds of people around to hear her but she held her breathe instead and hit Leander as hard as she could in the chest but with her awkward position curled into him, it was difficult and the force behind her was practically nonexistent. “I’m not telling you now,” she said, letting a breath out on a huff. She was kidding, of course; there was no way she could contain her excitement. And really, it was a miracle she’d held her tongue for as long as she had so far. Normally, as soon as she’d found who she was looking for, it all just sort of poured from her like water from a fountain; not stopping until she got out every last word. And Leander was about the only person in the world that could grab her sides and she didn’t go all ninja on his ass.
Jack’s brow quirked but she didn’t say anything. What could she say that wouldn’t get her in trouble? She knew better, or there would be another attack on her sides and this time, she wasn’t sure she could hold back the shrieks and giggles. Jay sighed, shaking her head. “Well, there goes the idea I had for making you some swamp soup,” she said, rolling her eyes. “And I knew about your aversion to nuts,” she added, already knowing that wasn’t an issue. Jack shook her head. She didn’t want him to do anything but eat the food; telling him that was like talking to a brick wall. “Well, I suppose that depends on if I can’t talk you out of it,” she said, honestly. Brick wall or not, she was going to try. She knew she should have stopped before seeing if Leander was still at work, but of course, she had been too excited to see him, and tell him everything that she’d completely blanked about the store. "Are you going to let me talk you out of it?"

Leander held Jay close to his side as they walked, keeping one hand on her hip so no one could squeeze in between the two of them. It'd happened more than once around here; some person on a cell phone was too "busy" to notice that a couple was walking together, and then they barged right through the pair. It was rude, to say the least, which was one more excuse to keep Jay close to him. Getting seperated in these streets could be dangerous unless you knew them well. Plus, it'd ruint the happy vibe they'd already set into motion for the rest of the day.
"Ow!" he complained, chuckling nonetheless as she huffed at him. Leander knew she didn't like it when he did that, but it still didn't stop him. Teasing her was just too much fun to resist. "Oh, I bet I could find ways to make you," he said with a shrug, trying to keep that sentence clean. There really was no way to, so he kissed her head and traced his fingers over her side again. Besides, threats like that were sure to produce some sort of information once they were back in the privacy of his apartment. "Pleeeease, Jay?" he tried again, running his lips down her cheek and jaw. "Pretty please?"
His nose crinkled at her mention of swamp soup. If she made something gross, there was a definite chance he'd order pizza and surprise her later that night. "You're the one who's supposed to like nuts, not me, hun," he smirked down at her, winking playfully before crossing the street towards the little market. "You know you can't, so don't even try," he challenged, opening the door for her and following her inside. "Are you ever going to stop protesting when I offer to pay?" Leander answered back, grabbing a basket from the stack. "Now, what're we getting?"

It didn’t matter where they were as long as they were together Jay was happy. They’d only been together a short time and yet she had so many memories, so many pictures. But that was like her, she always had a camera within reach. Even now, she had a good camera, a point and shoot and her phone all in her bottomless pit and within easy reach if something caught her eye and she just couldn’t help but take a picture of it. Being snuggled against Leander’s side was helpful in the crowd, having a near miss situation with some man in an ill fitted suit just barely missing her side. Sometimes, Jay almost wished she was in that one horse upstate town; there hadn’t been traffic there, pedestrian or otherwise. But she knew she’d missed the busy, streets of New York. She needed the go, go, go atmosphere of the notoriously busy city.
Jay looked away with a pout, “No. You don’t get to know anymore. I’ll go tell Mum and Da and buy some shoes instead.” Shoes were her celebratory gift for everything and anything that she possibly could; shoes, and equipment. “Maybe a new camera,” she said getting excited about the prospect of a brand new toy. It wasn’t far off, she was always thinking about picking up new cameras, lighting equipment, backdrops. It was who she was. And everyone who knew Jay knew she’d buy those things anyway. Jack rolled her eyes laughing, “Sue me. I like almonds.” And Hazelnuts, but now saying that definitely wouldn’t have helped her case, so she kept quiet.
“It was worth a shot,” she said slipping past the door and stepping out of the way as Leander grabbed a basket. Jay actually thought about that for a minute. “Eventually, I’m sure,” she said, smiling at him. Even though she didn’t really have to pay for everything, she didn’t want their relationship to be all about Leander spending his hard-earned green on her. She spent her money, but it was rare that she did so with Leander around. Maybe she was just too stubborn for her own good. “Follow me,” she said, taking his free hand and heading straight for the produce. “Say no whenever,” she said, comparing bell peppers. Since it was just the two of them, she didn’t need as much as she usually picked up. She rarely made this particular meal, and when she did it was because there was good news and she was at her parents’ home.
Jay picked up one of each colour, celery, a bag of baby carrots and a handful of fresh mushrooms tossed into a brown paper bag. “Having fun yet?” she asked, laughing as she looked around for anything else that caught her eye. There wasn’t anything, so she kept going through the aisles. She grabbed rice, sweet and sour sauce and the boneless, skinless chicken she preferred. “And that’s it,” she said happily, spinning to face Leander. “Have a clue yet?” she asked, taking his hand again and headed straight for the line at the cash. Jay felt like she was missing something, but since she rarely put the same things in every time she made it, it made perfect sense that she thought there was something missing.

Leander hadn't had many "serious" girlfriends in his days of dating, not one as serious as Jay at least. Though, serious hardly described their actual relationship, even if they'd only been together what most would call a short time. He was happy with her, and she seemed to share the sentiment. What more could a relationship need? They didn't fight; both were too playful for that. Their teasing natures never brought up a dull moment. They were cute together. This was about as settled down as Leander had ever gotten with someone before, but he didn't care at the moment. He wanted to take things slow and just enjoy being together, not rush into it for fear the dreamed for wedding day would never come. Stopping and smelling the roses was his specialty; he just hoped Jay could understand that.
At the mention of shoes, Leander couldn't hide his smirk. He'd sent his sister to pick some out for his dear girlfriend, saying he'd pay her back plus a tip if she dropped them off at his apartment. If luck was on his side today, maybe they'd be there when they got back to his place and he could use them as yet another bribe to pry Jay's news out of her. "But, Jaaay," he whined again, nuzzling her temple. "We can celebrate too... if you tell me." His voice dropped to a husky whisper in her ear before his lips pressed to it. The popcorn fumes were definitely going to his head today.
"More like in your dreams, doll," Leander countered with a shake of his head and a returning smile. He let her drag him where she pleased, wrapping his arm around his waist when he could and staying close to her. Leander definitely wasn't afraid of this innocent PDA; heck, he lived for it some days. Cuddling with Jay was too irresistable, no matter where they were.
He watched what she picked up, nodding in approval at the healthy, fresh foods. By no means was he a health-freak, but with Chloe eating over quite frequently he did have a decently balanced diet and tried to get all organic whenever he could. Jay not picking up frozen vegetables was one more thing to make her perfect in his eyes. "Always with you around," he smiled sweetly, kissing her cheek and letting her toss more items into the basket. Leander rose one eyebrow at her, scanning the contents of their basket. "Stir fry maybe?" It sounded delicious to him, but the enjoyment would really come from watching and "distracting" her while she cooked.

Jack hadn’t dated much growing up. Her life had always revolved around Photography. She’d had a couple dates in high school, but none of those “relationships” had gone very far; all but one hadn’t gone anywhere at all. And that one had ended up hitting a dead end when she started spending more time in Europe with her boss than she did in New York. It had taken her some time to realize she really wasn’t like the others her age. She was driven, already had a career started and was already going places and the kids she went to school with her only thinking about the next big party or the winter trip to the Swiss Alps. It was a little known fact that Jay was a private school kid, not to mention a shocking one when people actually found out. She didn’t act like those stuck up rich kids in the least.
But Jack kept most of her past where it was, behind her. It wasn’t because it was bad, or embarrassing like the rest of them. It was just because it wasn’t the now or the future. The here and now was where Jay lived, she didn’t want her past clouding the amazing time she was having. She had a wonderful, understanding boyfriend who cared about her and shared her excitement, her humour and he respected her. She’d never had that in the past and that was why she enjoyed being around him so much. And she understood him, respected him and absolutely adored him; things she’d never been able to say before when she was linked to someone. He knew how to calm her down when her nerves were frazzled, and anyone who knew Jay even remotely well, knew she needed that more than anything else.
The young photographer’s cheeks darkened almost immediately. But she was determined to keep up this charade for a little bit longer. “As tempting as that is, I still say no,” she said taking a great deal of interest in the people around them. This wouldn’t last long, besides that, she could never be mad at Leander. He was so sweet and romantic and just too perfect to be true sometimes. Jay had always thought since she started at the studio that she would end up with one of models that hung around; which would have been a serious problem considering they all annoyed the living hell out of her. So it was still a bit of a surreal shock that Leander was in her life, and making it so much better.
Jack laughed, nodding. “Probably,” she returned good-naturedly. There probably wasn’t a chance in hell that he would let her but she couldn’t say that she minded having Leander treat her. Though she was used to doing things herself, it was still nice to have Leander playfully slap her hands away from her bag, and the wallet somewhere at the bottom of it. Jay beamed. She loved how he could still make her blush crimson. At his guess, she shook her head. “I told you, I’m making swap soup,” she said with a sugary sweet smile. They were next in line so Jay moved up to let Leander set the basket up. Soon, they’d be on their way back to his place and the distractions would begin.

From the writer's prospective that never truly left his mind, Leander was gathering so much material for his own stories. Jay presented what he'd never had but always needed: a beautiful leading lady. He'd never been able to nail one before, at least in his opinion. But, now, now he had a perfect example to draw from every time she smiled at him. All of their dates, all their kisses, all their banter; it was all what was now breathing new life into his muse. Of course, while he cherished the experiences and memories for his stories, Leander preferred to think about that second when his beautiful brunette was around. Jay kept him living in the moment with her and cherishing every single second of it. She also brought some much needed chaos into his organized, ordinary world. She was good for him, and he knew that, which was one more reason he dreaded the idea of losing her. But, would that day ever need to come? He sure hoped not.
Leander couldn't help grinning as Jay's cheeks flushed. She was adorable when she blushed, though he seldom reminded her of that because he enjoyed it too much. The color always brought more life to her face and he was unable to keep from placing a gentle kiss to the becoming shade of pink. "Then I'll just have to phone your parents later and ask them," he concluded with a finalizing note in his voice. He could and would do that if it was needed. But, he knew his girlfriend well; she'd never last that long without bursting at the seams, especially if the news was a big as it appeared to be.
"And, I'm positive I've told you before, I'm the cook, doll, not you," he teased back, reaching down to lovingly peck her lips before their turn came in line. He unloaded the contents of the basket, paying for them without a word and grabbing the bagged groceries from the end of the long conveyor belt. He slung them over one arm, wrapping the other firmly around Jay's slim waist as he headed for the exit. "Let the fun begin," He smiled, kissing her head and walking eagerly out the shop doors.

Every time Jay laid her eyes on Leander, her mind worked the angles. It was something she’d done for as long as she could remember; figuring out everyone’s best angles. She even remembered, seeing him sitting down on the cold ground, scratching Av behind the ears and thinking, wishing she hadn’t put her camera away already; because the sight was just too perfect. She didn’t have to worry much about missing that shot; she’d gotten quite a few since the moment they met. Jack’s jaw slackened but she still narrowed her eyes, trying to hide the mischief behind those dark orbs. “Da won’t tell you a thing if I haven’t already told you. And he’ll know that I haven’t if you call,” she said, looking up at him with a “HA!” sort of face.
She didn’t say a word about her mother. But that was because Jay knew she would be on the losing end of this little battle. Her mother adored Leander, and as far as Jack could tell, would reveal all of her quirks if given the chance; which was why her mother was rarely left alone with Leander. There didn’t need to be another trip down memory lane with the photo albums again. Laughing, Jay leaned up on her tip toes more and pressed a feather light kiss on Leander’s cheek. It certainly wouldn’t end the pseudo-argument they were having, not that she’d keep the good news to herself; it wasn’t in her DNA to do so.
They were probably sickeningly sweet to the strangers around them, but Jack didn’t care in the least. She was blissfully unaware of their stares and glances. She pressed her lips together, savouring the moment just a little longer. “Honey, you can cook all you want,” she said, “After tonight.” She sighed, but didn’t say a word until after she was ushered out the building. She laughed, shaking her head. This was going to be one hell of a night if they were barely out of the grocery store and he was already bringing in the predictions. Outside the store, Jay wrapped her own arm around Leander’s waist as they walked the rest of the short distance to his building. It seemed like an instant before they were walking up the familiar steps of Leander’s building, in and to his apartment.
They hadn’t been together all that long, but she already had little things lying around the usually perfect apartment. A sweater, a pair of earrings she’d taken off after a meeting with the head of the photography department at Vogue, the entire outfit she’d worn to that meeting, including the six inch peep toe pumps, a pair of her fuzzy booty slippers sat at the front door so she wouldn’t be walking around in socked feet, or worse to her, her shoes. It was a little bit of a pet peeve of hers, people walking around houses with their shoes on. She wasn’t allowed to do that in her house growing up; she certainly wasn’t going to do it in others, or her own. Jack took her messenger bag off, setting down on the floor against the wall. She switched her footwear like a pro before turning to her wonderful boyfriend as she stepped close, wrapping her arms around his neck, letting her fingers tangle in his hair. The door was shut behind them, and it was still pretty early. “On a scale of one to a hundred, how distracted are you going to try and get me?” she asked, a wicked grin spreading across her face.

By now, Leander was used to having his picture taken by Jay. She'd sprung up on him more than once with a lense, though he hardly minded and often laughed at how some of the shots turned out. He wasn't a model by any means; at least, not all the time. When his girlfriend was around happened to be most of those times when he was at his weirdest and quirkiness. She also happened to usually have a camera with her at those times. Leander never mind, however. It was what she loved doing, and he knew that. He'd feel terrible if he ever said "no" to her, especially in this case. Denying her anything was already hard enough; shooting down her career would be flat-out torture for him. Besides, the pictures always caught some of their best memories and times together. He'd never been one for posing before, but that had quickly changed after a few dates with Jay. Now, he was lucky to get away with fourty minutes of no-camera before it appeared.
He chuckled, tickling her side once more and shaking his head. Even if her dad wouldn't reveal a thing, he'd already picked up on the fact that Mrs. Greyson was fond of him. And, he planned on using that to his advantage if he could; in the nicest and most loving way possible, of course. "Bet your mom would looove a visit, though," he answered, smirking triumphantly back down at her. "And, I'd sure like to look through more photo albums." His eyes sparkled with humour now, lips twitching as he tried to hold in some laughter. Leander's parents had done some version of the same thing when he'd introduced Jay to them, but his sister was really the one to take her down memory lane. After all, a lot of his "childhood" had been spent worrying over her which meant the siblings were very close. If anyone knew embarrassing stories about Leander, it would be his baby sister, hands down.
"It's my kitchen; shouldn't I get to run it?" he sighed by jokingly. He wouldn't mind if she made a mess or completely destroyed the tidy room. Afterall, everything had its rightful place and he'd practically memorized where it all went. It'd only take him about fifteen minutes to clean up, even if she made a tornado-wreckage of the place.
Leander held her tight against him as they walked. One arm stayed snug around her waist, the other balanced the bag containing their dinner. The walk to the apartment building was quick and easy, but he was very glad to be home for awhile. He needed a break. And, who better to spend it with than his beautiful girlfriend? He kicked off his own shoes once they were inside, settling them neatly on the mat near the door. Leander grinned warmly as Jay wrapped her arms about him, sliding one of his own around her tiny waist to press her against his chest. "That depends on a lot of things, doll," he whispered, leaning closer and trailing his warm lips down her jaw and neck, nuzzling her skin gently. Tonight was going to be a blast.

Jack always had a camera on hand and easily accessible. She’d learned from a young age to have one handy, just in case something happened and she wanted to capture the moment forever. Whenever she was with Leander and they were acting like complete fools was when she loved taking her camera out the most. Those were the time she wanted to remember forever; the writer and the photographer. She’d taken so many pictures of him; she wondered how many more she’d get to take before he finally told her to put the thing away. She had many, but there was one that was her absolute favourite. He’d been sitting at his desk, working on something, he hadn’t said what exactly, but she’d snapped a couple shots before he’d noticed her, smiled and beckoned her to join him. He’d been so engrossed in his work; you could practically see the wheels turning in that wonderful head of his.
But she supposed that path could go both ways, really. And Jay would never, could never tell Leander to stop writing, or reading what he wrote to her. She loved sitting on the couch curled up with him reading her some of his work, or one of his favourite novels. From what she’d heard and read herself, he was very good. And she couldn’t deny him as much as he couldn’t say no to her. And when the mood to write struck him, she usually pulled her laptop out and worked on whatever she had on deadline. There was always something she needed to do.
Jay sighed and rolled her eyes. She knew there was no way she would get away with conveniently ignoring her mother. “I’m sure she would love to sit down for tea with you and go through countless photo albums,” Jay said with a smirk. “And while you do that, I’ll sneak your phone, dial up your darling sister and have a chat with her. I’m sure there is an endless list of tales she could tell from your childhood that she hasn’t already,” she added, laughing. Truthfully, she didn’t mind that her mother wanted to pull out the albums at every chance. She was proud of her baby, Jay couldn’t tell her to stop; even if it did get a little embarrassing. Though, Jay figured Leander had felt the same when she’d met his family for the first time. She absolutely loved it because she found out more about him and for once she wasn’t the one blushing and telling her parents to stop.
Jay looked up at her boyfriend with a sad shake of her head. “Nope, you gave up the right when you agreed to let me cook dinner but I promise as soon as it’s all said and done, you can don your very manly rubber gloves and go to town cleaning up my mess. I’ll even toss around some flour for you,” she said, knowing it would make his eye twitch if he was finding flour a week later from her being in the kitchen. Jay didn’t know the real reason behind his nearly pristine flat, she only thought he had a touch of OCD; something she was seriously lacking when it came to her own flat.
Jack’s laughter was rough, but her eyes were dark and clear. “Depends on what?” she asked pressing her body closer. The entire world could go to tell right then and there and Jack wouldn’t have been able to care less. Getting time together when their schedules were as crazy as they were, well hers was crazy; Leander’s was great by comparison. And with the upcoming events, it was only going to get crazier. Getting this alone time was heaven.

SKIPPING!
Leander adored all this alone time with his beautiful girlfriend. They only got a few of these nights a month, where they were really all alone and could fully devote all their attention to the other. Tonight was already great, and Jay hadn't even finished cooking yet. Though, the process of cooking was proving out to be quite entertaining. He picked up after her almost the split second she accidentally dropped something, making no big deal out of his slight OCD-ness. It was habit and, really, a good one, especially since she balanced out his pristine neatness with her messiness. But, until he was "cured," he would continue to clean up after her and keep his apartment as perfectly neat as he could.
He scooped the remnants of chopped, unsed pieces of vegetables into the trash bin, wiping down the cutting board soon after and placing it carefully into the sink. Before the night was out, he'd take a couple minutes to load and run the dishwasher so none of the dishes lingered until morning. To him, that was about one of the grossest things on the planet. He stopped himself from cringing and turned back to Jay, kissing her cheek as he walked passed to the other end of his tiny kitchen. "You almost done, doll? It smells so good, I'm about to eat it out of the pan," he joked, though he was starving. It seemed like he'd been watching her for half of forever, and, still, she wasn't done with the delicious smelling meal. It was driving him nuts not being able to help, but the waiting was ten times worse. Good thing he was allowed to distract her between cleaning up.
Leander paced back and forth for another minute, giving up and going back over to her. He wasn't hovering exactly; not yet anyways. He came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder. His lips wandered down her ear and neck, nuzzling the warm skin softly. "Have I mentioned lately that you're amazing?" he whispered softly, kissing her skin between words. He was positive he'd said it lately, but he couldn't help himself from complimenting her almost constantly. There was so much to compliment, it was hard not to. At least, that's how he saw it. And, until the highly unprobable day that he'd extolled every piece of her body to his content, he'd keep doing it. Or, she could beg him to stop, but he was hoping she wouldn't. Leander loved telling her she was beautiful and perfect and, most importantly, his. Always his.

Jack didn’t get to cook for Leander often, as in not at all. When they had these nights together, Leander treated her to dinner while she sat on the counter, distracting him. Now she knew how he felt but it pleased her to no end, having him distract her from her stir-fry. She laughed, adoringly as he raced behind her trying to be so nonchalant as he cleaned up her mess. She would happily admit that she was a messy cook, while she cooked, but she cleaned up afterward. With her loving, OCD boyfriend running behind her, picking up whatever it was she dropped or missed, took the final stage out of it all; which Jack was far from complaining about. Cleaning and general housework wasn’t exactly her thing, though she did do it all. She preferred organized chaos over everything having a labeled place on a shelf.
Jay laughed, looking at him over her shoulder clad in the button down she’d taken from his closet. “It’ll be ready when it’s ready, Hon,” she said, turning her attention back to the simmering mix in front of her. “Hasn’t your mum ever told you watching it doesn’t make it cook any faster?” she asked, shaking her head. Since the ingredients she tossed into the mix was different every time, aside from the couple staples she just had to have in her stir-fry, the cooking time changed every time, so she couldn’t say exactly when it was done until it was. Jay could tell Leander was getting antsy and wanted to eat already; she did too, she was starving. She stirred the food once more before setting the wooden spoon down and reaching for the sauce to pour over everything. It wouldn’t be long now, before they could eat. Thankfully, she’d put the rice on early, not realizing the vegetables would take as long as they had, so the base was all set and they wouldn’t be waiting on that.
Jack blushed, loving how romantic and sweet Leander could be. She tilted her head to the side, giving him better access as she thought about that. “Hmm,” she said, “Not in the last hour or so. Of course, I haven’t mentioned how incredible you are in that time either, so I guess we’re even,” she said, laughing softly. She spun in Leander’s arms and pressed her lips to his in a quick kiss. Jay loved how well they fit together. He was the calm in her life, the only one that could make her stop thinking, stop working the angles and lighting. And she brought a little disaster into his serene existence; the perfect duo.
