Zoe didn't usually find her stress relief in such dangerous ways, but, she could see why Ember enjoyed it so much. The feeling of not feeling anything at all was a sort of bliss in itself, and, even if it was only temporary, it erased and eased so much, it was worth the high cost. If she survived the evening, maybe another, involving less alcohol, would be in order; she could see herself doing this at least once more before she went back down south to a world of utter innocence.
She laughed as Ember spun her, giggling as her heels tripped her up and she fell, once again, against the taller blonde. The sidewalk swan before her for a moment, but it stayed still soon enough, leaving Zoe with the beginnings of a migraine. "I'm fine, Em, c'mon! I want to dance!" she insisted, straightening back up as she tried to gain her balance again. She ended up leaning against her friend for another moment, hesitantly standing on her own once her head dulled a bit more.
Raising an eyebrow back at Ember, Zoe said, looping her arm through her friend's, "Well, I want a muffin. With chocolate chips. And a cookie, too." She licked her lip as she listed the food, listening to her stomach grumble in agreement for the delicious treats. "Can we please go, Ember? Please? I'll pay," she prodded, gently elbowing her friend in the side. She was suddenly starving and in need of something to quench the hunger burning inside of her; if only Ember would give in and let the drunk girl have what she wanted!
Zoe blinked innocently at her taller friend, not realizing the way her words would sound to a less-innocent mind. She had spent the previous night with her boyfriend though, something that usually happened two or three times a week; it was some of the only time they got to truly be alone and not worrying about the world outside the cozy sheets. "I sleep with him all the time," she nodded, not understanding the big deal over all this. Zoe giggled as Ember called Romeo heavenly, nodding her head quickly. "He is heavenly," she swooned. "And he doesn't even take all the covers in bed," she added, laughing again as they got inside the cab.

Ember still had plenty of demons to haunt her and to keep driving her to stupid things and reckless behaviour, but she had grown up being told to deal with such things on her own without involving anyone else. Brandon would probably understand best now why she was like that, but Ember didn’t need to be talking about the feelings she had on every aspect of her life and partying out in New York was a sure fire way of keeping the demons at bay for another week or so. She didn’t have a perfect life and there was still a lot she didn’t care to talk about with anyone, so in a way this was her form of therapy and it came a hell of a lot cheaper than talking to a shrink who couldn’t care less about the person on the couch.
The tall blonde kept her grip on her friend so that the country girl wouldn’t wake up tomorrow morning with a scraped knee and inexplicable bruises. Ember had been there too many times to count and it still happened to her now, though it was usually after she got back to her penthouse and tried to do several things at once while the ringing in her ears threw her off balance and the two dogs she loved more than most things ran about for attention. “You can dance when you get in! There’s got to be a radio somewhere.”
She said with a smirk, not putting it past Zoe in this state to try and imitate a nightclub scene once she was back at Romeo’s. Glancing across at Zoe with her sharp blue eyes, Ember shook her head and sighed. “You’ll turn into a freakin’ cookie if you keep up like that.” Drunken cravings were the worst, but they still weren’t driving around the city just for some treats. Romeo could deal with this once Ember dropped Zoe off with him; the guy had more patience than the gunslinger could ever hope to have. Slowly, the realisation dawned on Ember and she rolled her eyes. Zoe would definitely be getting reminded of this in the morning when she finally regained consciousness. The country girl was far too innocent for her own good at times and it would probably be enough to stop Ember’s already damaged heart if she wasn’t running on batteries, essentially. “I thought you meant sex, you silly drunk!” Ember said, swatting at Zoe with her bag, not caring if the driver heard what they were talking about; modesty wasn’t exactly something Ember boasted. “I have two boys who don’t take the covers; they’re called Xander and Leo.” Brandon would be a third on that list, too, but Ember wasn’t at a point where she was comfortable discussing their sleeping arrangements when she was still growing accustomed to waking up next to the man.
