Jack wasn’t entirely sure what this reaction was to a man she’d met only earlier that day, which she’d spilt tea all over. She should be feeling embarrassed and apologetic but she didn’t; not really. Sure she was sorry she quite possibly burned him, but damn if she didn’t enjoy the view it had allowed her. She wasn’t all that into looks, and odd thing coming from a photographer. But then she would know. Having to be around all those “beautiful” people, most of which were only beautiful on the outside, Jack learned to look beyond the pretty book cover to what lay inside. She’d never dated a model, but she knew enough of them to know she wasn’t attracted to the all glamour, no substance type.
She always joked around with Coop saying she wanted her prince charming, but her prince had better be intelligent and not just pretty or she’d be her own prince. It always got a laugh from her closest friend; even got her to say once that maybe Jay was moving to the realist side, but that wouldn’t happen. Jack loved romantic gestures for absolutely no reason, phone calls just to say hi, flowers because he spotted them and thought of her. She didn’t like the traditional, but she loved the idea of fairytales. Jack shook her head, returning to the present. She laughed shaking her head. “You’ll have to come around then, see for yourself,” she said, laughing. She had ten saying he wouldn’t come back during those days even if she asked.
And then a thought hit that made her eyes go wide. She really, actually, honestly wanted him to come back to the studio again. But not to see the models, do a write up or whatever it was that writers did. She wanted to him to come back so she could share a part of her life with him, so she could see him again. She couldn’t consider this a date, it was courtesy that had her dragging him along to get him out of the wet clothes before he caught cold. But she really wanted there to be a date. Something planned where she could call Cooper rambling into the phone, to get her to come over and help her pick out something to wear that would make his jaw drop. She wasn’t shy, maybe she’d ask him; although, maybe she wouldn’t.
This was actually all new to her. She’d never wanted to ask a guy out before; that must mean something right? And she loved the way he looked at her; like he couldn’t get enough and just like she was looking at him. Oh, her boss was going to have a field day as soon as Leander left, but Jack would sit through the questions and not give and inch, like a normal little sister would just to piss off her big brother. She’d give him answers, but they wouldn’t be what he wanted to hear, if they weren’t anything more than a cryptic answer to begin with. And eventually, she’d call him, along with Coop, to help her, because she would need opinions and those two were the most honest people she had in her life.
Jay wanted to groan at his response; her go-to action when someone gives her the go ahead to decide what to do. She was never really good at deciding things. Mostly because she was so ADHD sometimes that she wanted to do twenty different things at once and couldn’t quite choose what to pick to do first. God only knows what that said about her, but she just didn’t know what to do. She could show him some of her work, part of the reason they were at the studio in the first place, but she was feeling exceptionally self conscience about her work all of a sudden.
She knew she was good; she wouldn’t have gotten the internship otherwise, her father had gotten her the interview, but her skill landed her the job but that didn’t seem to matter to the petite brunette. She was still on edge to hear what he had to say about her work. Finally though, she sighed and looked back at her work station. It was now or never and since she hated to put off what could be done quickly and immediately, she looked up at Leander. “Well, I do have to upload those pictures so why don’t we just go sit at my desk and as the pictures are uploading I can get us some water or something that doesn’t stain,” she said, making fun of her own silly accident. It wouldn’t take that long for the pictures to upload, her computer was fast and chances were they’d still be in the kitchen when the pop-up said the pictures were ready.
She didn’t have to worry about Av while they were at the studio. He had his hiding spots and since her boss was there, Avie would bugger off with him. He got treats for no good reason when her boss was around. But that still didn’t stop her from looking around as she moved towards her desk. It took her until she was at her desk to see his wagging tail just inside the door to her boss’s office. Av wasn’t a stupid dog, he knew exactly where the treats were hidden; he just didn’t have the thumbs to get them.

A big grin was stretched across Leander's handsome features as he looked down at the beautiful photographer before him. He was very interested to see what she'd actually been doing back at the park, besides chasing after her little puppy and accidentally spilling things on innocent writers. Not that he minded... but it still didn't kill his curiousity in the slightest. Besides, photos were always worth a thousand words. And, being a writing Leander thought it was practically his job to pull at least a thousand and one out of any given picture. One of Jay's though? He'd probably be able to scrape up nearly a million, most of which would be describing the photographer instead of the photograph, though. Though, really, that could be very enjoyable for the already love-struck young man.
"Sounds like a plan to me," he nodded at her suggestion. But, Leander was excited to see her photos and get a look inside the mind of the woman standing before him. "Maybe after we can go get some lunch. I'm sure there's some little cafe around here that's up to your spill-worthy standards," he joked, though very serious about the lunch part of that. Was he asking her out already? Seriously? Hell yes, he was.
Leander was a straight-forward kind of guy; he didn't believe in beating around the bush. It was probably the journalist side of him coming through, the side that hated vague answers and procrastinating. He liked Jay, more than he knew was probably healthy this early on, and he wanted to try his chances with her before they got too deep and hurt him more. If he fell head over heels for her only to have her crumple and shatter his heart, Leander didn't know what he'd do. It'd be his own fault, after all, of course. But, if there was even a slight chance of saving himself and maybe even her from some potential drama, wasn't the risk worth it?
"Unless you're busy, of course," he said, biting the inside of his lip and crossing his arms over his chest, a defensive pose the writer didn't use often. But, suddenly, he was barring himself against the rejection he was very afraid of recieving from her. It was strange; that want, no need, to be with her. If she turned him down... well, he'd certainly be trying to plan another date until the day and time came when she flat out told him "absolutely no".

Nervousness and speechlessness were two traits not associated with the petite brunette. Jack always had something to say and was so confident about everything. After all, believing what you were saying was the only way to get others to believe you, too. She’d lost count how many times she’d gotten nervous first timers calmed down for their shoots. Confidence, decent acting skill and a genuine smile went a long way in those situations. This one however, was on a whole other playing field; and Jack was brand new and didn’t know the rules. She wasn’t sure if it was so different or if it was just because it seemed like everything meant so much more. Her subconscious was slowly catching up to her consciousness and it was making her flustered to realize she was already falling for the boy with the easy, charming grin, bright eyes and hair she could imagine running her fingers through while they shared the sweetest of kisses.
Jack wanted to sit, to shake her head and laugh at her very creative imagination, but couldn’t seem to even cough the laugh out and her knees refused to bend at the moment. She could smile though, which was good, so she just kept her pearly whites in plain view and wished that her little trip into her imagination was her reality. “Good,” she said, pleased and yes, completely nervous. She usually loved people viewing and commenting on her work, and although she really wanted to share it all with Leander and hear what he had to say, she was a wreck. What if he didn’t like them? What if he clicked on another folder and found the work she’d had published for Vogue Italia? What if he saw all of that and just didn’t like it for whatever reason? She had a feeling she would actually be crushed; she hadn’t even felt that about her Boss! Oh the fun he’d have picking on her about that.
She turned to hook up the camera she’d dug out her bag when he asked. It took her a minute to realize that yes, he’d just asked her out on a date, and a second longer to turn around to look up at him. He sounded just as nervous as she felt, and she loved that. She hated being the only person in a situation that was having such strong feelings; no matter what they were. Without even having to look over at the screen, Jack plugged the cord into the camera, instead of her usual course of action to take the card out and slip that into the reader, and she hit the enter button before standing. She was still so much shorter, and she had to look up at Leander but that was okay. A blush was making itself quite at home on her pale cheeks, but she didn’t mind that either. She wanted this, to go on a date with him. Of course, she also wanted to have the time to get all dolled up and watch as his jaw dropped to the floor, but she could live with that being their third date; if they were getting technical, that is.
She didn’t care if they had an audience; to her, they were alone in the studio. She took a step closer, and really had to tilt her head back to see into those mesmerizing blue-green eyes. She set her slim fingers on his crossed arms and sent him her million dollar smile. “I have a feeling I already have a willing babysitter so, I’d love that,” she said, laughing. “There’s a cute little place a couple buildings down that caters to the klutzy.” It would be so easy to just reach up on the tips of her toes and plant one on him. She was thinking about it but her body didn’t follow her mind. Probably a good thing in the long run, but at the moment, Jay really didn’t think so.

Leander's heart was pounding furiously against his rib cage. His breath was sticking his throat and, for the first time in his life, he felt like he was about to pass out because of a girl. A girl. But, really, it wasn't just some random chick to him. This was Jay, the girl who'd captured his heart in a mere few hours and who he'd just asked out on a date. He never asked ladies out on dates, not even jokingly. It just wasn't something the busy writer had time for. But, right now, he wanted to have time, no, make time, for Jay. He was already giving up on the article he was supposed to have been finishing, and he'd bailed on making his little sister lunch. And that was only over the course of a couple hours! Think of what a few days, weeks, or months would do to him!
He chewed hard on the inside of his lip as she continued fiddling with her camera and the cord to connect it to her computer. Personally, uploading photos was not his thing. He was more savvy in the Word programs or any of the Microsoft Office things really. Apples were nightmares for him, though he'd understand why they might come in use in a place like this. Those computers were made for editing and creating wonderful, brilliant works of arts. Windows was made for people like him, who could get by without all the complicated programming and insanely intricate accessories that came with more expensive computers.
Having tried to distract himself from personal ramblings, Leander almost jumped when he felt Jay's warm fingers on his arm. He looked down into her eyes, smiling warmly in a way he hadn't done... ever, really. "Good thing I'm a big fan of klutzes, huh?" he joked back softly. Before he knew what he was doing, Leander was leaning closer to Jay. One of his arms slipped out from the defensive pose, his hand resting very gingerly on her hip to pull her just a bit closer to himself.
The studio's buzzing around them faded into nothing; all the people disappeared. Hell, even his train of thought, which mostly consisted of protests telling him to stop leaning closer to her, froze. He very gently pressed his warm lips against Jay's, melting into the moment and wrapping her fully into his arms, pulling her tight against his strong body.

She could just die. Maybe she already had and this was heaven. If it was, she prayed the emergency medical crew was late and they couldn’t revive her. Her breathe caught in her thought and her dark eyes widened at the realization that Leander was leaning closer. Or maybe it was her, finally giving in to the demands her body was making to be practically pressed up against him. Maybe it was both of them feeling the strongest pull ever bringing them together. It felt so right to have his hand on her side, to be falling and losing herself in those brilliant eyes of his. She wasn’t even sure it was all happening until it was happening. She pushed up on the tips of her toes, making it so much easier to kiss Leander back, his arms were pressing her against him and her arms were slowly trailing up his chest, his neck until her fingers were tangled in his hair.
Yes, if she was dead she was absolutely okay with that. And if she wasn’t well, she could die happy now, knowing what kissing Leander was like. It was bliss, it was heaven, and it was something she wanted to do every single day for the rest of her natural born life. And wasn’t that a jolt? It wasn’t nearly as shocking as it should have been. She should have been stunned into speechlessness, stunned into taking a step away and just staring at Leander with darkened, wide eyes. But, no, instead it was as if she’d known since she met him that that was what she really wanted. No, instead of stepping back, she was pressing closer, tightening her hold on his wonderful, shaggy hair. Somewhere in the far off distance, like another country or year or planet, she could feel eyes on her back, watching her and what she was doing, but she couldn’t seem to find the strength within her to care they were being watched.
Bombs could have been going off all around them and Jack wouldn’t even have noticed. It was so surreal, it was so intense and she didn’t want it to end. She wanted this kiss to continue; something she’d never wanted before. In fact it was almost every other time, if not every other time she wished the kisses had never happened as she came out of them and back to her proper senses. This though, was so much different than anything she’d felt before. She’d have more explaining to do than she’d care for after she said her “see you later’s” to Leander but she would answer her boss’s questions or tell him to shove it, she wasn’t sure which at the moment because she was too surrounded by Leander to really give a damn about the aftermath of making out with the man in the middle of the studio during a supply shipment. It wasn’t the busiest time for the studio but there were enough people around for the unloading and taking inventory of the supplies brought in. One thing was for sure, Jack couldn’t get enough of Leander.

So, this was what it felt like. All the movies, all the books, all the wonderful stories he had written himself... this was what all those people had been trying to display or explain. And, frankly, that'd done a pretty sucky job of it, if you asked him. Kissing Jay was like... like... Leander couldn't even explain it! It was too amazing for words. And, coming from the writer himself, you knew he only used that expression lightly. But, she was one of those matters that would be his exception to the typical, organized way his life ran. Really, though, he didn't mind at all. If she could make his heart stop with just one simple, easy kiss, then she was definitely worth being put onto his Exceptional list.
Leander wanted to be even closer to the young woman he was holding in his arms. It felt so right to have her pressed against him like this, her hands touching his chest and braiding themselves into his messy hair. He didn't want it to stop. Hell, he doubted even a world disaster would be able to pull her out of his arms right now. His lips moved gently against her warm ones, enjoying the feeling of touching her. One of his hands rested at the small of her back, keeping her flush against him as she stood up on her toes. His other walked slowly up her back, tucking more stray pieces of her dark, beautiful locks out of her wonderful face as his lips pulled back only centimeters from hers. Leander's breath was warm and uneven, both from her kiss and from the realization of what he'd done.
"You kissed back... that has to mean I won't get slapped, right?" he smiled nervously, still keeping her tinier body against his. Leander had this strange fear that if he let her go, she'd run away and he'd never see her again. And, honestly, at this very moment, he didn't know how he'd go on without having those kisses whenever he wanted. They were like some drug. Now that he'd had one dose, he never, ever wanted to stop getting them.

She couldn’t say it out loud, but her life had just been changed forever. She wondered idly if what she was feeling was the same as an addict with their fix on. She lived her life in a sort of ordered chaos but this; this was absolute chaos at its best. Her mind was blank, but it was racing a mile a second. She knew she had to slow this down, but moved closer instead. She was in bliss. Too bad it was over way too soon. It took her a second before she could open her eyes to look up at Leander. Carefully, she untangled her fingers from his hair and set her forearms on his shoulders. Her breathing was on the erratic side, her chest was rising and falling too quickly but it felt too good to be in his arms. They were still so close; she could see the different flecks of colour in his blue-green eyes.
She wanted to say something, anything, but the only thought that came to her mind was “whoa” but she could form the word; or any words for that matter. Would her heart ever calm down? Did she want it too? No. No, she did not. A smile spread across her features that said more than the words she could say. Her arms had formed a loose circle around Leander’s shoulders, now though, those clever photographer’s fingers moved closer, brushing against this wonderful man’s neck and she brought them up to either side of his face. She was so close, and it felt too right, so she pressed her lips to his. She pulled back sooner than she’d have liked, but she did have something to say. “You can take that as whatever answer you’d like,” she said softly, quietly, the brightest blush yet settling on her fair features. She could feel her face burning, but for once Jay didn’t mind it at all.
Oh her boss was going to have a field day, but the hour she was going to be spending either on the phone or more likely locked in his office talking about it all would definitely be worth it. How was it she barely knew the man and already she wanted so much more than this single fated meeting? Maybe it was just her romanticized imagination taking complete control of her brain, but when she thought of the future, her advancing career, her life after this day, there wasn’t a second Leander wasn’t in it. It was too soon, too early to say anything like that. But she felt it so deeply, she wanted so badly for it to be true. She laughed, happy, excited and threw caution to the wind to close the distance she put between them and kissed him again. Jack had always thoughts some things were more like guidelines, recommendations, to be followed loosely. And rules, well, Jay had always felt more than a few of them were made to be broken; even a few of her own.

Leander knew this was wrong. So, so, so wrong. And, yet, it felt like the rightest, most wonderful thing in the entire universe. How could something be so wrong and still so right all at the exact same, entirely confusing time? It wasn't like he'd even gone looking fo something like this, especially not today. Today should've just consisted of him bumming around, writing, with Chloe posisbly stopping by to pull her older brother out of his "author's funk". Absolutely no where in that plan was the idea to find a random girl in Central Park and begin kissing her in the photography studio she worked at, in front of all her co-workers and, possibly, even her boss. Would he get banned or something for this? Oh, he sure as hell hoped not. Would Jay get in trouble all because he hadn't been strong enough to hold off his urges to kiss her right here and now? Leander would feel absolutely terrible if that happened. The last thing he wanted was for her to get any heat because of this or, worse, lose the job she so obviously cherished with all her heart. Just the way her eyes had lit up when she'd walked in proved she loved this place. And, Leander honestly couldn't blame her for it.
He stared down at her with worried eyes as he awaited her answer, or, more expectantly, the feeling of her hand slamming across his cheek. But, her kissing him once more was definitely not one of the options he'd run through his busied mind. Leander moved his lips against hers in return, smiling brilliantly down at her as they pulled apart once more. Before he could even say something back, though, she was kissing him again. And, to be honest, he didn't even mind in the slightest. Didn't actions always speak louder than words, anyways? Wasn't that a rule in story writing? Describe, never out right tell. Well, if Jay was feeling half the things he was trying to convey, he was sure he was expertly describing his take on her answer.
Leander reluctantly freed her lips again, but still didn't loosen his grip on her body. He wanted to always be this close to her, even if they weren't kissing in such passionate ways. Just holding her felt amazing to him. The feeling of her arms intertwined around his neck, of his hands resting gently but still firmly on her hips, of just being near each other... it was heavenly, something not even the best writer would ever be able to capture in physical words.

Alright, it was official, Jay didn’t want to move. Words couldn’t describe it, and a single picture just wouldn’t be enough; there would have to be an entire album full of them, maybe two. That would probably equal about the same as what she was feeling. But they couldn’t stay making out in the middle of the studio forever. As absolutely wonderful as that prospect was, she did have some pictures to email. When she finally got around to doing that, she was just going to send them off. There really wasn’t any reason to check them over; they were just scouting shots, so they needed to be as real as possible. Plus, she was good at her job and if by chance there was a really rotten shot, it was one in a few thousand at the very least; it would be forgiven.
She wanted to jump around and act like a six year old who just got the pony they’ve always wanted for their birthday. But, of course, that was neither professional nor attractive or age appropriate. She’d check herself and then when she had the time, she knew she’d allow that jumping up and down giddy feeling to get out of her system; childish moments for the win. She was going to remember this day for a very long time to come; she doubted she’d ever forget it. She heard her computer beep, informing the room at large that the pictures were successfully uploaded and awaiting editing, or proper saving; both could wait until after she remembered how to walk, or talk, or breathe.
It took her a moment, more because she didn’t want to step away than anything else. “I’ll, um, go get that water,” she said with a shuddering laugh as she untangled herself from Leander and walked as calmly as she could to the kitchen, only looking back once. If it wouldn’t have been odd, she probably would’ve just walked backwards to the kitchen, smiling like a total and complete fool the entire time. But no, and once the door closed to the kitchen she jumped up and down spin around and happy danced across the room to the fridge. Nerd she may be, but she rocked the title hard. As she opened the fridge door, she reached into her pants pocket, looking for her phone, only to realize she’d left it on her desk; always the case with miss forgetful. She sighed, not really caring either way, there was still plenty of time in the day to send Coop a quick text to meet up later; drinks were on Jack.
Jay grabbed two bottles of water and a deep breath. She couldn’t go back out there with Leander and her boss and it be obvious she was in there giddy dancing practically the whole time. Boss man would definitely ask way too many questions then! She composed herself, then forgot that and allowed herself one more giddy silent squeal dance before taking another stab and that composure. She knew she had some in there somewhere; it was just playing a game of hide and seek. Another breath later, and Jay was pushing through the door again.
