If she could've, Zoe would've taken those few, rare lessons from her little sister on applying makeup or finding "trends" for clothes in cheap thrift stores of Walmarts. Frankie was always the skilled one, never her. She couldn't process why it was all so important, not until now anyways. If she would've known how to do all this herself, Ember wouldn't even have needed to find out about the date or Romeo until Zoe was ready to spill about it all; from the incident at Borders to what actually happened on the date. But, no, Zoe needed the help so she couldn't pick her moment of revelation. "I ain't havin' sex with him, Em. Not now, and probably not fer a long, long time," Zoe replied, even more defensive and flustered. Her cheeks burned lightly, but she pulled herself together as best she could. Sex would not be the aim of this evening. She knew Romeo understood her in that matter; or, at least, she was counting on that fact. The one thing she would not do like some New York girls is give herself up to any guy. Romeo was hardly any guy, obviously, but she still had her morals in tact, even if she would be walking out of the apartment in a dress and heals. Some things about Zoe just wouldn't change, no matter who or what asked her to.
"Ya pull that thing out again and I swear I'll shoot ya myself," Zoe warned with a playful laugh. If anyone could scare off Romeo, Ember was the first person on that list. For the time being, the blonde biker was her "big brother." She'd be the one there to keep the country mouse out of trouble and to threaten the boy trying to claim her heart. It was endearing and frightening all at the same time.
Zoe smoothed her hands over the dress again, trying to mentally picture herself in it. It was gorgeous on the bed spread, but would it work on her? She sure hoped so. Her and Ember were around the same size, but she wouldn't feel comfortable in one of her friend's pieces. Knowing that she herself owned the dress and that it could remain in her closet, a constant reminder of the evening, was special to her. She didn't want to forget this date for a long time to come. "Ya're gonna cut it?!" Zoe squeaked, finally understanding what the scissors and thread implied. "B-But... it ain't that long." Big, innocent eyes turned to Ember, clearly confused. This was one of the shorter dresses she owned, but, it was already making her a tiny bit nervous. Her legs weren't features she put on display too often. Heck, she never did it. The idea of revealing them in public had the country mouse looking for a quick place to hide. "Ya mean heels," she stated, not questioning it. Ember was in heels a lot, one thing Zoe was very afraid of, to say the least. Walking in sky-scrapers wasn't natural to her, though she did have decent balance. Maybe that would help?
The tiff with Ember wouldn't go away until Zoe held her tongue, and she knew that. Which was why she used the self-control she'd learned long ago to her advantage now. She let Ember snap back, having expected it, but kept her own mouth quiet and her eyes down on the dress before her. This didn't need to turn into some huge arguement, especially not now when the mouse was already vexed enough. It was a discussion for another time, another day. But not today. As the topic turned more light-hearted, Zoe gave her a little pout as she laughed, joining in at the explanation. "I still like his hair, no matter what you say 'bout it."
Zoe nodded, throwing effort into a smile. "I know you do, I'm just nervous 'bout if I'll learn the lessons fast enough," she sighed, still keeping her smile on. Tonight would work in some way or form. With a bit of hairspray, high heel lessons, and some major Cinderella magic, this date would be one for the history books. Or, well, Zoe was planning it that way.

Ember’s entire knowledge of fashion, hair and make-up had all been self-taught. Growing up, she never had that role model to teach her all the ways of beauty and for most of her life she hadn’t even cared about anything like that. However, after the accident, she needed a way of looking less vulnerable and exposed and when the wall went up, so did the powdery armour and weapons of faux ink that would give her skin the trademark look Zoe would probably know her for. It was something that Ember never really spoke about, but being a New York girl, no one really questioned the killer heels, the slick make-up or the colossal hair; it was just something that came with the city and even the transition from Brooklyn to Manhattan wouldn’t have been able to destroy it. She smirked, flicking her blue eyes up and peering at her innocent friend through dark lashes. “Little Miss Morals, eh? Just wait until he kisses you just right, then see if you can keep that promise.”
She knew Zoe wasn’t that kind of girl, but it was still fun to tease her and see just how flustered the girl could become the second sex sprung up in conversation. Grinning, Ember stood up to her full height and placed her hands on her hips, meeting Zoe’s eyes with a challenging gaze. “You’d have to get over the fear of guns you have first to do that.” She pointed out, chuckling warmly before glancing back at the bed and the things she had to work with. It wouldn’t be a challenge to make Zoe look drop dead gorgeous, but Ember hoped this guy liked her for more than what she was about to do. No one wants to be in a relationship centred round looks and the artificial. Ember’s eyes studied the dress with a knowing gaze. It was modest, pretty and very much of Zoe’s taste, but the taller blonde still wanted a few inches taken from the skirt. She had a thing against mid-length dresses, mainly because they never looked right on her own body, but it was an opinion she generalised to the female population; her innocent friend included. She turned to inspect Zoe’s reaction after that squeaked question left her lips. Blinking and shrugging casually, as though it was no big deal, Ember nodded. “Yeah. It’s not going to be hugging your ass if that’s what you’re afraid of. Just an inch…or maybe three.” She ran her manicured fingers over the white skirt and nodded. “Just enough to be a tasteful tease. Nothing to corrupt your innocence.” Ember added, searching around the room for scissors. There had to be some in here somewhere. Another nod and another shrug and she turned back to her friend. “Well, the only other shoes I have are my running shoes or my Uggs that I wear around the apartment. Neither of them will look good with any dress. Don’t worry, heels are easy to manage once you get the balance part down. Plus, you’ll get to use those hips of yours.” She tickled her friend’s side as though to emphasise her words and then folded her arms again. “Where in hell do you keep the damn scissors?” She asked, frustrated by not finding them so far in her half-hearted search of the only too neat bedroom, aside from the clothing vomit on the bedspread. Laughing warmly, Ember shook her head. Was this really Miss Zoe Tylers, the girl who usually lectured her about appearances and behaviour, defending some guys’ hair? Romeo himself probably didn’t care about it as much as the country girl seemed to be doing right now and Ember couldn’t help but laugh more at the idea of him knowing the lengths she would go to just to defend his messy locks of hair. “Okay, okay, geez, enough about his hair already! I’m starting to think you’re only dating him so that you can touch it!” Rolling her eyes playfully, Ember moved to search through her bag of cosmetics, trying to figure out what she’d need from it. Narrowing her eyes playfully, Ember fixed her friend with a fake stare. “You know my low patience better than anyone, so you better start learning fast or that gun will be out again.” She mock threatened before returning to her sincere ways. “Stop panicking so much. It’ll be fine and like I said, it’ll all come naturally after a short practice.” [/blockquote][/blockquote] • • • TAGGED! The Innocent Zoe! WORDS!791 OUTFIT! Casual Missus!
