KC wasn’t the sister to hold anything back. She wasn’t the triplet to keep much buried inside. It was such a pain around Christmas and birthdays, because she wanted to tell everyone what she bought them, but this wasn’t a holiday and it wasn’t their birthday and KC needed to talk. She picked up her sisters’ favourite coffees along with her own with an added triple shot of espresso. Even if they weren’t home, just the sight of the coffees waiting on the counter would tell her sisters she had something on her mind. Kayd knew by the time she got home, if her sisters weren’t there, they would be because they’d have heard all about the hyper ones class interruption and would, naturally, want all the details. KC let out a sigh as she accepted the coffees from the barista and left the little café two buildings down from their shared apartment.
Kayd wished she could explain it all to them. After all, she’d pretty much kept Dawson to herself, trying to show growth by working it all out herself before bringing in the big guns. KC might have been the oldest of the trio, but she certainly wasn’t the treated like it. Em and Tabs had tended to baby her a bit more because of their mothers criticizing of young blonde girl. But because of the past, KC tended to act more childish when she couldn’t figure out a problem and went pouting all the way to her sisters’ for help. If they couldn’t help her, Kayd didn’t know who could.
She let herself into the building and took the stairs to the top floor of the brownstone. The three sisters had the entire floor to themselves, which was probably a good thing with the way they tended to get on. KC let herself into the apartment, using her foot to shut the door. She set the coffees on the coffee table, took of her coat, mittens, and hat and tossed them onto the couch. Em was going to yell at her later for it, but it could wait; and by then it would probably be a welcomed distraction from the upcoming conversation.
She gathered up her cute laptop case and the coffees and made her way into the kitchen and the island where she’d left the plug for her lifeline. KC set up her computer, booted it up and once it was all loaded, she brought up the saved document from her class. With that on the screen, she went back to the doorway between the kitchen and the living room. “Who’s home?!” she yelled out to the apartment in general. If either of her sisters were home, they’d come straight out to meet her. With that, she turned back to her computer and started scanning the file. She didn’t bothering calling out where she was. The apartment wasn’t small, but it wasn’t that hard to find your sister when it was like you shared brain waves half the time.
KC’s cheeks burned as she went through the text and came to the exact minute Dawson walked through that lecture hall’s door singing. Now that she wasn’t in that classroom, she could feel the heat all that much more, and her throat was so dry. The young blonde, snatched her cup off the table and started chugging, burning her tongue in the process. She swallowed the burning coffee, and as soon as her mouth was free, she had to suck in air, and fan her tongue to cool it off. Leave it to Kayd to do something so stupid because she was feeling the heat.

When one had a day that was free of classes, lectures, and studying, there was a lot one could get done within the span of a few hours.
Even though she was pretty positive that she wasn’t going out anywhere, after she woke up and showered, Emerson got dressed and even accessorized, feeling pretty confident. She didn’t bother with any make-up. She made sure to pick out a long sleeved sweater, given that she woke up shivering and the hot water from her shower was the only thing that was able to wake her up. Both of her sisters seemed to be out already, so she didn’t worry about the noise from her hair dryer. After putting on her usual perfume and slipping in a couple hair clips, she went back into her room. Emerson spent about 20 minutes highlighting her latest biology textbook, and when she was bored with that she used her free time to do something she’d put off for a bit too long – painting her nails. She even slipped off her flats and gave herself a pedicure to match the purple of her newly-painted fingernails. Her hand wasn’t the steadiest, so she used a q-tip and some nail polish remover around the edges when she was done. Her oldest sister had the steadiest hand. What could be expected when she majored in film and needed to be able to hold a camera steady? As kids she and her other sister Tabitha were always harping either their mother or KC to help with their nails since they both had tendencies to do a messy job on their own.
Once that was done, she had the time to finish the novel she had been reading the past couple days. Out of the three, Emerson was definitely the fastest reader of the group, and tore through books in no time flat. She’d just bought this book two days ago, and if she’d skipped her classes yesterday it would’ve been done before noon. Like she always did when she finished reading an amazing book, Emerson found herself overcome by an overwhelming sense of glee and excited energy. Instead of just letting herself sit and enjoy the mood, maybe grabbing her iPhone and listening to some music while relaxing on her bed, she decided she’d use what energy she still had before getting any coffee into her system to write a blog post about the book. Since she was 15 Emerson tried to write in her blog as often as possible, covering everything from book reviews to random passing thoughts to angry rants. And she had a steady number of followers, which was always a bit of a nice perk. People always seemed to have interesting opinions about what she wrote, or they decided to contribute their own.
To keep herself awake, and also to continue to fuel her mood, she tore through her secret stash of almond chocolate bars, the wrappers layed out randomly around her desk. While she was usually the one picking up after KC and helping Tabby organize her life, from the shelves in her room to her school work, occasionally she could be a bit messy too. At least while she was absorbed in something such as writing a blog post. Also, she had her huge yellow headphones around her neck, blasting music loud enough that she could clearly hear it without having to put them over her ears. As she neared the end of the new post she could hear the front door open and listened as KC hurried into their apartment. From the sound of her rushing inside, she got the feeling that something about her was currently urgent. She stopped typing a moment before she heard her sister call out, ”Who’s home?!”
Emerson called out, saying, ”I am; I’ll be right there.” Aside from the fact that the three sisters had always shared some sort of telepathic connection, it didn’t take much deduction to figure out that KC was in the kitchen. She finished up her blog post, typing her last line as, ‘Just goes to show that something good does come from Canada!’ before posting it up, removing her headphones and walking out of her bedroom. When she entered the kitchen, she watched as her sister was profusely fanning her mouth with one hand. It appeared that she’d gulped down too much of her hot coffee too fast. Emerson was more than used to this. ”Smooth” was all she replied as she entered the kitchen, pulling out a glass and getting some cold water from the sink, handing it to her sister so she could quench the burning of her tongue. Afterwards, she happened to see her sister’s outerwear strewn absentmindedly on the couch; one of her many bad habits that continuously got on her nerves. She moved towards the couch and retrieved everything, moving towards the front closet and putting everything away, only acknowledging the mistake by giving her sister a dirty look. Normally she’d reem her out for something like this, but she could tell from the moment she walked in that something was amiss. ”So what’s going on?” Emerson asked her eldest sister, grapping the coffee that had been bought to her by slowly glancing towards her sister’s computer screen to see what she’d just been looking at a moment before she’d burned her mouth with hot coffee. KC was practically relieved to hear Emerson’s voice trail down the hall from her room. Of the two, KC would get the most honest answers from Em. Tabs was good with the philosophical, not really advice, advice, but right now, Kayd needed honesty; KC needed Emmy. KC turned when her baby sister walked into the beautiful kitchen and laughed at her sister. The two were almost complete opposites; in looks, there was no doubt, but personality was where they matched up a bit more. KC was more like the triplets father than Em or Tabs. She was the only blonde, though Tabs did have lighter hair, and Em was the only one with dark eyes. You could easily guess they were sisters from bone structure, height and smiles. KC was more of the dare devil of them all; which, she figured more often than not was one of many reasons their mother treated her differently. That and she was sort of the odd one out. With one kid blonde and the other two brunettes, it seemed it was just too much for their mother to have to explain they weren’t identical triplets. KC found it easy enough, when she chose to divulge that information.
Still fanning her mouth she watched her sister fill a glass with water and accepted it gratefully when she held it out to her. KC chugged that water down so fast, she was surprised she hadn’t choked on it! “Thanks, Em,” she called to her sister who was picking up after her yet again. KC wasn’t a messy person, per se; it just took her a little longer to get around to things like picking up after herself than most people. Her room was ordered chaos and it was a wonder Sir Gerald didn’t get lost in there. KC smiled innocently at her youngest sister and shrugged, setting the empty glass down on the breakfast island. She got away with far too much but it had also been that way for so long; her sister’s cutting her more slack than her mother ever gave her.
Emerson’s wandering eyes wasn’t lost on KC and instead of explaining everything that went down, she sighed. “If you haven’t actually heard about it yet, I’m shocked,” she said, shaking her head, pieces of her blonde hair lifting with the quick movement. She spun her laptop around so Emmy could read it easier and sat forward, leaning on her forearms on the island and waiting for her sister’s thoughts on it all. "Help me," she said, practically pleading. Carefully this time, she took a sip of the coffee she’d brought home with her. If it hadn’t actually happened to her, chances were, KC wouldn’t have believed it and it would have turned into one of those Urban Legend like tales. But it had happened to her, and she’d gone and said yes; she would go on a date with him. Of course, it wasn’t exactly a hardship to say that three letter word to Dawson. He was cute and sweet and had more charm in his pinky than a couple of the guys she left behind back in Arizona, and she was interested in him. What was a poor girl to do but say yes? She was excited, but nervous and she needed her sister’s to talk it all out with.

Taking a sip of the coffee her eldest sister brought her helped to wake her up some more, preparing her for whatever it was KC wanted to talk about. The cappuccino with a shot of mint made her feel a bit more alert, and she watched as her sister said, “If you haven’t actually heard about it yet, I’m shocked”
and spun her laptop around so she could take a look at the text that was on the screen. As Emerson grabbed one of the seats for the island and pulled it closer so she could sit down in front of the laptop, she shrugged and said, ”I cut class today; got caught up with a few things here and decided to take a personal day.” Of course, those things had been finishing up reading a book and writing a quick blog post, which weren’t nearly as important as attending her lectures, but she’d just decided that a personal day sounded pretty good when she work up. After sitting down, Emerson began reading through the document. Her sister had the bad habit of using speech recognition software and sitting back while her computer recorded the class for her with no additional effort on her part. It was something Emmy had always looked down upon, and the program was something she only decided to use when she just couldn’t type another note, or if she was busy fighting off a hangover or something. Deciding to lecture her later, when her sister wasn’t looking at her with those pleading eyes, she began reading what the computer had recorded. It started off with a lecture on what looked like a lecture on Golden Age actresses, such as Marilyn Monroe and Elisabeth Taylor. Given that her sister was a film major, this wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. And she doubted what KC needed to talk about had to do with her academics. Then she noticed the difference in what the computer had picked up, starting with KC’s name. And she read the following text, taking it in slower so that she could more easily determine who was saying what. As she kept reading, it got more and more entertaining. It appeared that some boy, evidentially named Dawson, broke into her lecture hall, playing the guitar and serenading her sister. The back-and forth between them was pretty funny, and she couldn’t help but laugh at times. ”’Ooh, such a soft touch, KC’? Did you seriously reach into his pocket for his phone?!” she asked him while in the midst of a small fit of laughter. This guy was just too entertaining to read about, it was pretty damn funny to hear the banter between these two. In the end she agreed to go out with him. Then, in a pleading voice, she could hear her eldest sister say, ”Help me.” Turning away from the computer, she picked up her coffee again and took another sip of her coffee. ”What is it you need help with, are you having second thoughts now? Do you want to back out of the date?” she asked her sister. She was still a bit giggly, but she was doing her best to repress it. After all, she was always around when her sisters needed help or advice, and now was no different, even though she wasn’t completely positive what she wanted help with regarding this matter. In a moment the laughter was gone, and she was ready to listen to whatever her sister had to say. [/blockquote][/blockquote] - tag : KC <3 - notes : No problem at all. KC nodded understanding her sister. Cutting class wasn’t something any of them did often. When they did it was usually something important. With Em, it was usually her blog, which KC did sneak peeks at, and by that, she meant followed almost religiously without her sister knowing. KC loved reading her sister’s opinions on books, and movies and her rants were often amusing because KC knew the more private details her darling baby sister had left out of her written reports. Emerson probably knew KC followed her blog, but either of the girls’ said anything about it. Staying quiet, KC sipped her coffee with its double shot espresso, chocolate and caramel flavouring, extra whipped cream and chocolate and caramel syrup and shavings while Emerson read on.
The only blonde of the three tried to give her youngest sister a very bland look, but it was lost in the tomato red blush that heated her cheeks. Instead, KC looked to the ceiling of their kitchen and groaned before crossing her arms on the island and letting her head drop there. Of all the things to hone in on, Em just had to go for that specific section. “Yes, I did,” she mumbled, still buried in her arms. She’d been called on that in the class, too, even though at the time she’d acted as if it had been no big thing. After the lecture, she couldn’t get it out of her mind; all the way to the nearest Starbucks from their apartment, and then to the apartment. It was an all consuming, very good, very funny memory.
KC didn't have to think about that as she lifted her head. She wasn't having second thoughts. Nor was she really asking for help about that part of it all. It was, well, nothing like that had ever happened to KC before. It was a little unnerving and KC didn't do unnerving well. She was "I'm not second guessing, I swear, I’m not. I'm just having a bit of a crisis of insanity or something. I mean, who does that?! And who says yes?!" KC sighed and shook her long blonde locks around. "I guess I'm just freaking out," she admitted. She thought it was a good freak out, but at the moment, she wasn’t so sure. She just needed one of her sister’s to tell her to breathe or something.
Everything was just fun right now. After all, she had loved that he’d shown up in her classroom to serenade her, attempt to embarrass her, and all for her number and a date. No one had ever tried that hard for her. And that, more than anything else was what she was freaking out about. No one had ever worked so hard, put in so much effort to get KC’s attention. It was a shock to her system. “No one’s cared enough to put in that much effort, Em. No one,” she whispered behind her Starbucks cup, barely audible but she knew her sister would hear her.

While KC was the eldest sister, Emerson seemed to be the one to give her guiding advice the majority of the time. If Emerson found herself faced with difficulties that life had thrown her way, she did her best to help herself without relying on anybody else. She was open with both her sisters of course, but there were still some things she kept to herself. While KC relied on herself and Tabitha the majority of the time, Emerson got herself out of her own messes. There were things she kept to herself that she didn’t even see as a problem, such as the boy she’d been electronically corresponding with over the past few years. They weren’t more than friends right now, but Emerson found that the more she got to know him, the more she wished that she could meet him in person. But that wasn’t possible.
”Yes, I did”
her sister told her, and Emerson couldn’t keep herself from laughing more. She was doing her best to try and not appear rude, so she just took another sip of her coffee, hiding her smile with the cup while she did her best to suppress that as well. It was pretty hard. Seeing her sister acting so frazzled over a guy was quite entertaining. Even if she wasn’t the oldest by much, she was still stereotypically supposed to seem the most knowledgeable. "I'm not second guessing, I swear, I’m not. I'm just having a bit of a crisis of insanity or something. I mean, who does that?! And who says yes?!" Emerson couldn’t keep herself from saying, ”You, evidentally.”, and it might’ve been a bit mean or insensitive to say given that her sister, was far from laughing, so she just took a big gulp of her coffee instead of saying much else. ”I guess I’m just freaking out.” Emerson nodded, and after putting her coffee down and leaning forward on the counter again, she looked over the laptop screen again before saying, ”I can understand reeling from the after shock... But what else is there to freak out about?” To Emerson, there really wasn’t much to feel negatively about in this situation. She had a (hopefully) cute guy serenade her and ask her out in the middle of a lecture, something that most girls would absolutely love to have happen to them in some way, shape or form, if they had a romantic disposition. Emerson knew that she did, but given how her sister was panicking she wasn’t exactly envious. She rarely felt that way to begin with. ”No one’s cared enough to put in that much effort, Em. No one.” Even though her sister whispered to her, and behind her coffee cup, of course she heard her. Shrugging, she said, ”How is that exactly an issue? It seems like fate’s kind of worked things out for you to notice this guy a second time, and now go out with him again; you should be jumping up and down like a lot of other girls would be in your situation.” Leaning back from the computer, she picked up her coffee again to take a sip. Looking up again, she said, ”Sorry KC, I still can’t really see what the problem is here. Though I guess this situation will teach you not to leave a guy hanging without your contact information ever again; seems you never know what guys are capable of these days” Here she couldn’t stop herself from laughing again. It was funny to think about a band of guys coming down to ‘get you’ if they go on a great date with you and you leave them with a fake number or none at all. The thought was pretty humorous; she’d have to add something like that to her blog; without mentioning her sister’s circumstances, of course.
