She smiled fondly across at him. It had been a long time since she’d met a guy as sweet and as charming as Denver. Though, back then she hadn’t been kidnapped for a day of pyjama clad fun. She wasn’t complaining though, at least not seriously, it was just fun to joke about it and feign reluctance from time to time. Truthfully, Denny was one of the few people in New York who she would actually let do this. She trusted him and he seemed to compliment her no matter how bad she thought she looked. She let out a soft chuckle and moved her arm to lean against the door, her hand supporting her head slightly as she relaxed. “Revenge was a very close friend of the Ryanne girls.”
She admitted with a soft shrug. “Teenage girls are mainly built of vengeance, I think.” She mused aloud, remembering just a few of the stunts she had helped her sisters pull over those troublesome high school years. For her sisters, having a guy or bimbette mar their reputation was the least acceptable thing out there and, if it were legal, she was sure there would have been a more deadly punishment than a few carefully spread rumours or embarrassing photos published for the whole school to see. Lexi’s dark eyes looked up at him when he spoke again. She had been lost in her own thoughts as she tried to control herself, remembering that compliments were not supposed to render her more silent every darn time she heard them! A small giggle escaped her smiling lips and she nodded her head slightly. “Just not too cryptic. I don’t want you whisking me away to Central Park or something when I’ve put pyjamas on thinking that this is what you meant. I‘d also need shoe preferences.” She said, imagining the calamity it would be. Judging by today’s events, she doubted Denny would give her much chance to change if that were the case and she didn’t want to be wandering around the park sticking out like a sore thumb; she hated people looking at her or taking centre stage in any event. Granted, a cryptic message probably wouldn’t ease the panic in her to look decent in the short time he would probably give her before appearing at her apartment door. She tried to hide her smirk but it broke through despite her best efforts. “For you maybe.” She joked, moving the chunk of dark hair from her eyes and back into it’s rightful place. Why was it that she couldn’t keep that smile off her face whenever he was around? He’d start to think she was some creepy girl who smiled all the time. Then she quickly remembered that the first time they met she had been dazed and red-eyed thanks to a good half an hour of crying. She blushed as she shook the thought from her mind, remembering that Denny didn’t like her thinking of that day when he was around. He always tried to tell her that it hadn’t been so bad, what had happened. She twisted her legs so that she could cuddle more into his side as he hugged her and a demure smile accompanied the rosy blush that eased into her cheeks. She chuckled almost silently and hugged him a little tighter, reassuringly. “Well, I did go to Hogwarts.” She joked badly, hoping that her light hearted humour might work to keep him from looking so sad. She didn’t like seeing him upset, though she could understand why he felt that way. She just wanted to make him feel better now. [/blockquote][/blockquote] • • • TAGGED! Denver! Denny chuckled. “I have a teenage sister, remember? I know all about it. I hear the plans during out chats. Her and her friend’s are always planning the demise of some other girl they’ve dubbed a slut,” he said, shaking his head. He would never understand it, but did enjoy helping his sister from time to time to perfect her plots. As he’d said time and again, he wasn’t built for exacting revenge, and tended to cringe when he heard his sister start planning, even if he did help out from time to time. Den shook his head, trying to forget those lapses in judgment.
Denver sighed, holding back the chuckle. Of course she would think basically telling her what to expect was being cryptic. But then, if he were planning something more than another day on his couch, he’d put in a little effort with the texts; maybe even give her clues to what the evening held. “I think I’d go just cryptic enough,” he said actually laughing this time. If it would be another time like this, it wouldn’t be much more than a be there in how ever many minutes he’d need to get from wherever he was to her. It would be funny to see Lexi freaking out about what to wear when he sent a message like that.
Denver loved being around Lexi. She made him laugh and she was so pretty he couldn’t help but tell her all the time. She made it seem like it would be okay and she always had the sunny smile on her face. Her being so sweet was part of the reason he’d gone to her first; not just because he wanted to make sure she was safe, though that had been most of it. She calmed him down when his heart was racing and she was fun to be around. He just felt horrible about how they’d met. He didn’t like seeing girls hurt or crying. He wanted to help them and make sure they were alright; which was exactly what he’d done with Lexi. And usually, it ended there, but something compelled him to stay and talk to her, get to know her. Denver was glad that he had. Nothing and no one had taken up so much time in his head as Lexi had since that moment. Den laughed, tracing circles over Lexi’s arm. “I don’t remember seeing you there running the halls,” he said, sounding serious.

A small chuckle passed her lips and she smiled. “See, that was my sister’s usual need for revenge. I was more likely to be an accomplice than the one who initiated the attack.”
She shrugged lightly. “I only personally got revenge on one person when I was younger.” It had been her first boyfriend who thought it was acceptable to cheat on her. At the time it had blown Lexi’s hard earned confidence to shreds, but one satisfying act of revenge later and a lot of girly time with her more trustworthy friends and the brunette had been back on her feet. Since she graduated high school, there was less of a need to exact revenge on anyone, though her sisters still found plenty of opportunities to teach someone a lesson and knock them down a few pegs. Lexi usually tried to keep her distance from the ones she didn’t quite understand the motivation for, but they were sisters and always went into something like that together. She narrowed her dark eyes playfully and tried to bite back the smirk that was dancing on her lips. She knew Denny would probably never tell her enough information to make her relax with something like this. She may not have known him long, but his kidnapping today seemed to seal that fact for her. “You just love to torture me.” She stated, pretending to sulk as she folded her arms and fixed her gaze on anything but him. Lexi knew that it would only take one short glance at the charmingly handsome doctor to crack her mocking composure. It was a little terrifying that she had such strong feelings developing for a guy she had known for such a small time. She kept reminding herself that she was just reading too much into things or falling too fast because Denver was just a rare guy to be found in New York. Whatever it was, it didn’t keep her away from him whenever an opportunity arose and just relaxing like this with him, a movie neither of them seemed to be paying attention to in the background was enough to make her happy. She just hoped that Denver felt the same, considering she was there to try and cheer him up and keep him the happy doctor she loved being in the presence of. “Well, you were probably too busy fighting off the rest of the witches. I was invisible without the need of a cloak.” She joked, dipping her head to hide the slightly geeky giggle that was threatening to escape her lips again. Harry Potter might quite be the only thing that brought out the geeky sounding jokes and the trivia that none of her other friends quite seemed to grasp, usually just looking at the small brunette with bemused expressions and raised eyebrows. Denver chuckled. He could just imagine what Lexi and her sister’s could get up to. Probably just as much as Sarah and her friends; those girls she called sisters. Plotting and scheming weren’t things Den could say he was good at. In fact, he was quite terrible and plotting anything; even the surprise birthday party he’d helped to throw his then boyfriend in high school. Looking at him, no one would say Den liked the fellas, and honestly, he wasn’t sure he did. Back in high school and college, he thought that might be the case, but as it kept turning out after the couple… experiments that just wasn’t the case. He shook his head, “I’m kind of glad you didn’t met Sarah when she was here. She’d be leaving with more ideas and plans that she would know what to do with,” he said, joking. His sister was good at plotting, planning and scheming, she sure didn’t need help with it.
The young doctor to be really enjoyed being in Lexi’s company and teasing her relentlessly. Her cheeks turned red so easily, at any little thing he said to her. It made him smile, and want to keep telling her she was beautiful, and keep hugging her. She wasn’t like anyone he’d ever been around before. She blushed so easily and her smile was so disarming and distracting. “It’s becoming one of my new favourite pastimes, darling,” he said, with a wicked grin. Teasing her was just too much fun, especially when she had such a quick wit; her words often took him by surprise.
Denny didn’t think he’d spill so much of his heart with his words. After all, he’d had to censor himself. But still, enough of what he was saying got to him deeper than he’d thought it would and sent him in a little mini spiral downwards. And then he looked up and Lexi was there, holding out her hand and helping him to his feet. He’d never felt so strongly towards someone he’d barely known and yet here he was telling Lexi about one of the worst moments in his life so far. He felt helpless in those situations, even though he was helping.
He really was thankful that Lexi didn’t mind having his issues unloaded on her; he’d just needed someone to hear what he was saying, though he hadn’t known that it would be so easy to get. Denny shook his head. “I find that hard to believe. I wouldn’t have missed just a pretty girl racing through the halls.” He chuckled, leaning forward to press a quick kiss to the top of her head, “And there certainly weren’t enough witches trying to chase me down to miss you in the corridors. I’d say there were plenty more wizards trying to vie for your attention, even if you weren’t interested in it.”

Lexi laughed and shoved him playfully, pretending to be offended by his suggestion, but she was unable to keep the toothy grin off her face. “You make it sound like you think I’d be a bad influence!”
She threw him her best look of innocence and flicked the hair from her eyes again. Lexi much preferred to be honest and truthful than to scheme behind someone’s back. She was a little too non-confrontational to outright tell someone when they upset or hurt her, but she’d rather be able to tell them than stab them in the back. Chelsea was very much the opposite, no matter how much Lexi tried to calm her big sister down when she was on the warpath. Sometimes, a little revenge was very much necessary, especially with teenage boys who had far too much going on hormone wise. Sometimes, she wished she didn’t blush so much. She was growing used to it happening around Denver as the heart she wore on her sleeve try to best her, but that was the only situation in which she could just about cope with it. He didn’t seemed to mind or tease her too much about it, which did make it a little easier to handle, but she longed for the moment when she could think of something that would render him speechless, or make him turn red, though she doubted that it would ever happen. She wasn’t good at stuff like that and it often showed when she intentionally tried to be funny. However, this time, her eyebrow arched beneath her dark hair and she smirked sideways at him. “Really? Oh sweetie, I’m going to have to introduce you to this thing called a life.” She joked, chuckling softly as she dipped her head. Glancing across at him, there was a heavily flirtatious twinkle in her chestnut eyes. “Clearly, I’m going to have to show you a better time.” It was a little unusual for her to say something like that to a guy, but around Denver she was just so comfortable to let that side of her personality out without feeling as though she was forcing it. Plus, any excuse to spend more time with Denver was something that put a smile on her face. Lexi understood the idea of ‘one of those days’ and she was the kind of girl who could often push her own problems aside to listen and help others with their own. She could deal with most of her own issues privately and alone, but she hated seeing those who she cared about upset and forlorn. When it came to Denny, she wasn’t used to seeing him without a smile on his lips and a joke ready to be made, so today had unnerved her a bit until he had told her what was wrong. She knew she couldn’t do anything to make the situation better in general, but she did hope she could make him feel better now. She giggled and blushed at his words, moving her position slightly so that she could rest her head on his shoulder a little more. She loved his hugs and being in his arms always felt so right to her. “Nope. I didn’t look a thing like this back then. This is magic at its finest!” She would have made a bad joke about cosmetics but she quickly remembered that she had none on since Denver had almost literally kidnapped her. She draped her arm over his stomach and sighed contently, enjoying how they were right now. “And stop being so modest; you’re hot. I’ve seen girls looking at you.” She swatted him slightly and then smirked. One or two had definitely eyed him up with a lusty look when they had been out in the city, but Lexi wasn’t the possessive kind and he also wasn’t hers to be possessive over. Plus, she was usually having far too much fun to let the night be ruined by some predatory woman trying to steal her company with a gaze she wasn’t sure Denny had even seen. Denny laughed, grabbing Lexi’s sides playfully. “The worst kind,” he said chuckling, though if he were being honest, the worst kind of influence was probably him, however accidentally. Denver never meant to give his little sister ideas of destruction, but by the time they hung up after their daily phone calls, he ended up passing along more ideas than he thought. And then a week later, Sarah would call and tell him a story he could have sworn he’d lived through, only with different people. The young Canadian man felt terrible that he was such a bad influence, all while trying to be the good one. Who knew, maybe Lexi would be the better to guide her.
Though Denver had been trying to play the smart ass, he really meant it. Being with Lexi and complimenting her was quickly becoming something he wanted to do every day, all day. Just being in the presences of the intelligent, history buff was like having the weight of his day lifted from his shoulders. How could he give that up? Denver opened his mouth to come back with another cheeky response when Lexi spoke again and had him nearly choking on whatever words he’d been trying to say. He didn’t want to admit it, but she’d stunned him. Accidental or otherwise, it was a bit surreal to hear that from Lexi. She always seemed relaxed, but too sweet to have anything like that, however innocent it could be, come from her lips. “You promise?” he asked, finding his words again, and only coming up with that stupid remark. Apparently his intelligence hadn’t caught up yet.
Den was just glad that Lexi hadn’t run screaming when he’d first shown up at her apartment to whisk her away for a lazy day, and then just dumped everything that was on his mind on her. He wasn’t entirely sure he would have been about to stay with all the drama he had going on up there if the roles were reversed. Alright, so he knew he wouldn’t run from it, but if he were a different person, it was a possibility. Den smiled to himself as he rested his head on hers. “Well then, your fairy godmother had an easy task with you,” he said, tightening his arms around her, holding her closer.
The young doctor-to-be rolled his eyes. If it was naïve, then that’s exactly what Denver was because he didn’t notice the glances and the stares; not when he was with Lexi. Before Lexi had fallen into his life, he’d seen a glance or two from as many women around New York, but he hadn’t cared then and had shrugged it off as nothing important. He didn’t think there was anything all that special about him. He had an odd accent, but in New York City, that didn’t really make him special in any way, it just helped make him look more like a transplant than anything else. “I’ve never really noticed,” he said honestly with a shrug.

That strange sound that was part giggle and part squeak erupted from the back of her throat again as his fingers found her sides and she swatted playfully at him with her hands. “Oh, please! I’m sure her list of trouble making is longer than mine already, after all, I know about you and your teenage adventures.”
She said, remembering the story about how he had fallen from the tree. “I’m sure troublesome traits are genetic.” Lexi teased, not really wanting him to worry about Sarah any more than he probably already did. From what she had heard about the younger Sawyer, she was certain that there were far worse paths for her to go down and she seemed strong and capable enough to take care of herself, though Lexi knew that it was easier said than done for Denny to stop worrying about her. Spending time with Denver was quite quickly becoming one of the things she looked forward to most, even when the socialising was as spontaneous as it seemed to be. He always managed to make her forget any worries and she felt safe with him, as though there was nothing to play on her mind or nothing she needed to hide from. She only just caught the pause before he spoke, the way he seemed on the brink of saying something when her second sentence had caught him unaware. Ten minutes ago it was exactly what she wanted; catch him off guard for a change and leave the charismatic doctor speechless for just a moment. Now? Now she was panicking that she may have said the wrong thing, implied something that was too much and ruined their playful moment. The blush she had meant to avoid seeped into her cheeks and she bashfully dipped her head towards his chest to hide her embarrassment. She hadn’t meant to come across so bold. At his question she bit back the grin that was automatically looming on her lips and raised her head again, her nose gently nudging his jaw as she did, her eyes meeting his with a playful twinkle. “I promise.” She confirmed in a quiet but confident voice that seemed to quell the nerves that seconds before were threatening to help her in bolting from the room. “Besides, I don’t know if there’re many other girls who could handle being kidnapped when they’re underdressed, even if their kidnapper is you.” She sighed dramatically and then shrugged, feigning resignation. “Clearly, you’re stuck with me.” Lexi saw nothing wrong with being stuck with Denver, but she was still trying to calm her racing heart down after her flirtatious line had almost choked her too once it was out there. Lexi smiled and snuggled closer to him. His hugs were amazing and this was as close to perfect as she thought they could get right now. Her fingers danced over the fabric of his shirt in a little playful fashion as she listened to him, smiling softly and learning to deal with the red hue that she was sure was going to be her permanent skin tone if she stayed around Denny. “You’re determined to never believe that I didn’t always look like this, aren’t you?” She said, her tone light and almost teasing. Lexi rolled her eyes this time and shook her head softly. “Of course you haven’t. I think a girl might have to even do more than hit you in the head with a football to get you to notice her.” She joked, remembering how they had met once again. Denny had never seemed to her like the kind of guy who sought affection from others. In fact, Lexi thought he might have been blind to the affect he had on the people around him, including her. She was finding that it was impossible not to fall for him, especially when it was just the two of them like this. [/blockquote][/blockquote] • • • TAGGED! Denver! WORDS! 745 OUTFIT!
