Currently, Aimee hated her mother. Again. The woman had pulled her from class today, claiming there was some big emergency with a show coming up next week. But, truthfully, the problem had been that one of her mother's models had "cancled" so Mrs. March needed her daughter to fill in. Again. The daughter, however, was starting to learn that these mysteriously disappearing models never actually existed; her mom just wanted her to be on the runway instead of slaving away at a degree. Nobody ever said being the daughter of a designer was easy. Aimee had survived the day, barely, and gone back to campus to apologize to her professor. The stress was wearing on her as she strutted up to the office building, which gave her teacher one more reason to take pity on her. Plus, when she explained how fashion related the crisis actually was, it was almost instantly forgiven. At least she'd be able to thank her mother for something today.
As she was leaving campus once again, her phone chimed the special tone given to one person, and one person only. Ryder. Aimee hadn't seen or talked to him all day thanks to her being needed around the fashion house's headquarters. That was odd for the new couple though; they'd been together almost non-stop lately. Not that she minded at all! He was her escape from the shiny fashion chaos, and he was sweeter than even she ever thought a guy could be. It'd only been a few weeks, sure, but there'd been a connection between them since the moment she'd fallen into his arms. Literally. And, to say the least, that special bond had only gotten stronger with each second they spent together.
Her eyes scanned the text, a smile playing on her lips as she climbed into her car. These apparently random date nights were fun for her, and one of the things she loved most about their so far flawless relationship. Aimee quickly replied with a "See you soon xo" and drove off towards the theatre, as her instructions were to head there. She assumed she'd be picking him up from work or something, not realizing what her mastermind boyfriend had in mind for the evening.
Lucky for her, she made it through the tail-end of afternoon traffic, arriving at the theatre in no time. She parked in a lot and took the short walk up to the theatre, a grin already stretched across her face as she walked through the doors. Now, where was he?

Ryder had been planning this for a while. And he’d finally figured out how he was going to do it all. It was a bit of work, trying to make sure there was no one around during that time, because it seemed like the place was packed lately with everyone trying to get ready for upcoming premiere. They had a new play starting at the beginning of the month and there was still plenty that needed to be worked out. But he’d managed to find a time when the entire place was shut down for dinner. There wasn’t much of a time span, an hour really, but he could make it work. He got Nik to help him set the stage as he ran up to the sound booth and put a soundtrack on for background noise. He’d texted Aimee a few minutes after starting the set up, thinking by the time she got the message, and got to the theatre, the twins would have everything all set up and Nik would be gone.
When they were done, there were candles everywhere, a blanket from the prop department laid out with cushions, a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and his nonna’s antique wooden trinket box, with a very special surprise inside. They’d made it a very close call. Nik ran out a side stage door, meant for the employees and actors, as Ryder raced up the aisle for the doors opening to the lobby. He stopped, brushed his hands over his jacket then his messy hair before he opened the door and stepped into the lobby. He didn’t know if Aimee would walk right in or if she’d wait outside, so he wanted to be prepared in case she was standing around the lobby; which she was.
Ryder’s entire face lit up when he saw the beautiful brunette. He took a second just to watch her, smiling, looking around for him before he stepped fully through the door and headed straight for her. “Hello beautiful. You look amazing,” he said, wrapping his hands around her waist and pressing his lips to hers. “Ready for the show?” he asked, lifting his head. He hadn’t given her much in the text message besides to meet him at the theatre, so everything was a secret. As far as she knew there was a dress rehearsal going on, and she was getting a preview of the upcoming show. There was one, when everyone got back from their dinner. If things went as Ryder hoped, there were two options. One, they’d be around still to watch it, or part of it. Or two, they’d already be at Aimee’s apartment, celebrating.
There was a third option, but Ryder really didn’t want to think about that one at all. That meant things didn’t go as planned, and he’d be at the theatre alone, working his woes away. He didn’t want that though he knew it was a possible option. After all, they hadn’t known each other long, but from the moment she fell in his lap at the park, he knew there was something between them; clichéd, but something special. He stepped back and took her hand to bring her inside the theatre, where her surprise awaits. “There’s just one thing,” he said, smiling as he produced a tie from his pocket. “No peeking,” he said, letting go of her hand for a minute; just long enough to cover her eyes. “Can you see?” he asked, stepping up beside her again and taking her hand.

Aimee was clueless right now. She was so stressed from work today, and from school too, that it was a miracle she was even standing upright. Truthfully, she just wanted to curl up with Ryder and snuggle for the night and forget about everything else in the world. An evening spent at the theatre would be... alright. But, really, Aimee wanted her boyfriend all to herself; she didn't want to share him with a cast of demanding performers.
Her eyes wandered around the lobby, looking for any sign of Ryder. She'd be lost in seconds if she tried to go find him in the huge theatre, so, hopefully he'd be here soon. Aimee's head turned as a door opened, a smile brightening her features as he finally appeared. "I look exhausted. Mom had me cooped up all day," she corrected, standing up taller to kiss him once more. Her lips lingered on his for a moment longer as she whispered, "I missed you." It was impossible not to want to kiss him more, but she knew they'd better put a cap on the PDA. This was where he worked, afterall. Aimee rose an eyebrow at him curiously, "What show?" They were at a theatre, so she should've probably guessed they were going to see a show, though her tired mind hadn't thought that far ahead yet. "I didn't think the new one came out for a bit yet." She kept up with his ramblings about work, like she partially hoped he did with hers, so she knew he was as swamped as she was. But, was it really already time for a premiere?
"Oh, no way," she laughed, reluctantly letting him tie the blindfold over her eyes. "If you run me into anything, Ryder, I swear I'll hurt you," Aimee threatened playfully. Well, sort of. If she ran into something, there was a strong chance she'd be flat on her butt in seconds thanks to her trademark shoes and the lack of balance being blindfolded presented. "No, but..." she smirked, pulling him closer to her. Aimee rested one hand on his chest, sliding it slowly up to his cheek and softly tracing the skin there. She reached up onto her toes again, instinctively finding his lips with hers. "I can do that."

Ryder knew how Aimee’s mother was acting like the fashion house or line or whatever they called it was more important than anything else, and therefore took Aimee away from everything on a whim. So, he’d also had that in mind when he’d concocted this little plan. It was some time where no one would interrupt them. There was no Diva pissing Ryder off, there was no homework, there was no mother leaving messages for useless things. It was just them, alone in a big theatre with music playing softly in the background to keep away the quiet. They both needed it, and Ryder loved doing little things like this for his Tesoro.
Ry shook his head. “A little relaxation and you’ll be feeling so much better,” he said, smiling down at her. He let his forehead fall to touch hers, that smile in place as it always was with Aimee around. “I’ve missed you, too, Tesoro,” he said, using his little pet name for her. It had been one of the only words, as his family well knew, that the young Italian man said he’d only use for one person. At the time, he hadn’t known who that person was; and then this beautiful brunette fell into his lap, and he knew instantly. Ry chuckled and shook his head. “It doesn’t. You’ll just have to wait and see what show,” he said, saying nothing more. He was not about to give her any hints to ruin the surprise.
“Well, damn,” he said, drolly. “There go all of my plans for the evening. I guess I better think up something else.” He loved kissing Aimee, it was like an addiction almost. He couldn’t get enough of it and he wondered if he ever would; probably not. And he didn’t want to. “Any time you’d like,” he said, pulling away just an inch, before succumbing to another quick kiss. He pulled away, squeezing her hand as he led her to the door and then down the aisle to the stage incident free. “Hold on,” he said a second before he scooped her up in his arms. He made sure he had a good hold of her then started up the small flight of stairs.
He kissed her cheek once before setting her down on her feet again, slowly so she wouldn’t trip. “Just one second,” he said, letting go of her hand. He had needed the lights on to see where he was going, but now that they were onstage, he didn’t need them all on and went back behind the curtains to turn off all but the ones at the exits. Then, he returned to Aimee, standing behind her with his hands on the knot of the blindfold. “That’s better. Ready?” he asked, already starting to loosen the knot. He let the tie fall to the stage as he took up his position next to her, arm wrapped snugly around her petite waist.

Even if they'd only been together for mere weeks, Aimee was in love with Ryder. He was the only guy who'd ever been interested in just her; not the money, or her name, or the "accomplishment" of snagging the honorable Miss March for a bride. He was there for her and she loved him all the more for it. After a long day like she'd had, seeing him made it all better for a short while. Just his smile brightened her up, and the feeling of his lips gently pressed against hers had her mother's rantings melting away. He was like her personal heaven.
"I already do," she smiled back, cuddling closer to his warm chest. Aimee couldn't help closing her eyes as their faces remained so near. His breath washing over her was enough to drive her insane, but it was hardly the time to tell him that. Her expression softened as he spoke her special pet name, the butterflies in her stomach flitting faster. She adored the name, especially since his accent was real for the word, not like most Americans who tried to fake them. It made it all the more perfect. Regaining her train of thought, Aimee couldn't help shaking her head this time. "Another surprise date, huh?" She giggled, reaching up to kiss his cheek. These "surprise" dates were some of her favorites out of all the ones they'd been on. They were more meaningful, knowing that the other had planned it specifically to see them smile. And, Aimee was a sucker for the romantic atmosphere being with Ryder always presented.
If she wouldn't have had a blindfold on, she would've made a deal of rolling her eyes and laughing. As it was, she laughed and shook her head slightly, a smile playing on her glossy lips. "Abusive tonight, aren't we?" she joked back. Aimee's smile widened as he kissed her again, and she dutifully followed after him, trusting him enough to know he wouldn't hurt her. She couldn't see anything, but she knew they were going into the theatre from how the click of her heels echoed. She gasped as his arms slipped around her and she was lifted off the floor, laughing and clinging to his chest. Aimee reached up and kissed his jaw, relaxing against him as he carried her.
She caught her balance carefully, smoothing her dress as he vanished from her side. Knowing moving would be a bad idea, she stood there, biting her lip in anticipation. This was the first time she'd ever been nervous about one of these dates; being blindfolded didn't exactly suit her, apparently. Aimee held her breath as his hands worked on the blindfold once again. Opening her mouth to make a coy comment, her sight finally came back, revealing the perfect romantic spot sitting in front of her. She blinked for half a second before grinning and turning to kiss her amazingly sweet boyfriend. "Thank you," she whispered, her lips moving against his before pulling back again. "What's the occasion?" Aimee wrapped her arms around his neck, playing with his hair as she breathed in the place. Suddenly, spending the night at the theatre sounded fun.

Ryder hoped Aimee loved it. He’d worked hard trying to think up the best surprise for her and this was it. He wanted it to be just them, and romantic. Try as you might, you can’t get that at a fancy restaurant. But at the theatre, you could for a space of time; this was that space. He chuckled, running lazy circles over her back. “Good, I’m glad,” he said, to the top of her head before he pressed a quick kiss there. Ryder just adored having Aimee in his arms, wished she could be there more often, but work and school said it wasn’t possible. Ry nodded, “It is. You’re not getting bored of them are you?” he asked. She’d said she loved them, but she could have just been saying that to make him happy. He didn’t think his wonderful girlfriend was like that, but he was already on edge, and everything was being shoved under a microscope to him.
She was acting like she was happy about the surprise date, so maybe he was just over thinking all these things. He laughed, “Absolutely,” he said, cheerfully. His mood always brightened whenever Aimee was around and especially this last little while with the diva working her not so wonderful magic around the theatre. He’d been pulled in so many directions, trying to keep her happy so she wouldn’t make life that much worse. She wasn’t around now, thankfully, and he could easily put her out of his mind and everyone else practically living at the theatre lately; they had the entire building to themselves.
Ryder almost stopped right there on the stairs just to kiss Aimee again. She was the devil in disguise sometimes, but he loved her all that much more for it. But the excitement of what was about to happen was just enough to keep his travelling mind on track and got them up the stairs. He didn’t want to leave her side, but of course those lights wouldn’t turn themselves off. It hadn’t taken more than a minute, though and he was back at her side, waiting to see the surprise and shock written all over her face. The shock came first, followed by the quick grin of surprise. The kiss he hadn’t been expecting was more than welcome, and he took a few moments to float with it. “I’m glad you like it,” he whispered.
Ry tightened his hold on Aimee’s waist. “No occasion, just a surprise for a beautiful, talented, amazing girl. Now, let’s not let this scene go to waste,” he said guiding his lovely Tesoro to the plaid blanket lay out before them. It wasn’t really much, but with all the candles lit and spread out around them, it looked like there was so much more. After taking his seat, Ryder reached around a rather big display of candles for the wax paper covered plate, holding the chocolate dipped strawberries. The treat seemed romantic and perfect for the occasion. “Now, I’ve got a little surprise for you,” he said, setting the plate down in front of Aimee. “But that can wait until later,” he said, a wicked grin playing on his lips. “For now,” he said, lifting the paper off the plate, “We have this.” Ryder lifted a strawberry off the plate and held it out for Aimee to taste.

These pre-planned dates were some of her favorite times with Ryder. He always kept her on her toes with them, but they never failed to make her smile. Maybe it was because they tended to be the most random date ideas on the planet, or maybe it was the fact that they weren't at stuffy restaurants with suit and tie requirements. But, whatever it was, Aimee loved them and looked forward to many more in the future. "Of course not! I absolutely love them, Ry, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise," she said sincerely, reaching up to trail her fingers down his cheek. "They're perfect every single time." He always seemed to know exactly what she needed when it came to dates like this. Whether it had been the worst or best day of her life, Ryder made it worth it with a dose of his romantic evenings. Aimee couldn't believe he was even suggesting she got bored with them.
Her light eyes took in the scene before her, already checking off another point for her boyfriend. He'd definitely nailed this one. It was like something out of a movie; candles, a picnic blanket, music in the background. Part of her was waiting to wake up, to remember that this was all just some extremely realistic dream. But it wasn't. Ryder was right here and he'd planned the most wonderful surprise yet. "It's perfect," she whispered in reply, still awe-struck as their lips parted. Her mouth tugged into a smirk as she added, "You just keep getting better and better at these, don't you?"
Aimee let him take her to the blanket, shaking her head playfully at his list of compliments. She slipped out of her shoes before flopping gracefully onto the ground across from him. Her eyes looked around once more, smiling at all the candles that surrounded them. It was hard to believe this was really all for her. "You're so mean tonight," she teased, sticking her tongue out at him as he revealed the chocolate strawberries in his hands. Aimee couldn't help laughing as she took a bite out of the delicious, plump berry, practically moaning as the chocolate melted on her tongue. If she had one weakness, it was definitely chocolate, even though she was not supposed to have it. Or, well, her mother said that. But when she was with Ryder, those rules tended to be tossed out the window. "These are... mmm..." she grinned, scooping one up and holding it up to his lips now. If they were going to do the romance movie, they might as well do it right.

Ryder beamed, he was hoping she loved them, but with all his thoughts going this way and that, he feared she was just placating him. “Buono, sono contento,” he said then shook his head, laughing at himself. “I mean, ‘good, I’m glad,’” he said interpreting himself before leaning down and kissing Aimee softly. Whenever he was nervous, well on his way to being nervous he slipped back to his native tongue; it was much easier to say what he really meant and then slip up in the translation than it was to outright lie. He didn’t do that to Aimee, not since that horrible family dinner. And aside from his little pet name, he translated everything he said in Italian to English.
He tended to slip a lot without realizing it, though Nik used to be the only one around usually when he did so it hadn’t mattered since she could understand him. Aimee couldn’t really understand a lot of it all, he’d been teaching her when they’d been together, little things so she could get a grasp of what he was saying when he slipped up, but it really wasn’t enough. And he didn’t realize he switched until Aimee told him, or swatted his arm laughing. She didn’t seem to mind too much, and he usually tried as best he could to tell her what he said.
Ryder leaned, back, just another inch to see Aimee’s beautiful eyes. “Looks like a have a new talent to fall back on if my music and that whole architecture thing fall south,” he said with a chuckle. It wasn’t much, these little things at first, but they’d come to mean so much to both of them that Ryder enjoyed coming up with crazy little adventures and romantic moments and getaways for them to share. Sitting, Ryder chuckled again. “I’m just full of evil today,” he said teasing. His eyes wandered for a moment to the group of candles that hid his grandmother’s old wooden heart shaped box and the surprise inside. But he caught himself and was smiling over at Aimee when he presented the strawberries.
He laughed along with her and leaned forward to take a bite of the strawberry she offered. Romance at its finest, as done by them, he thought smirking. “Mmm, delicious,” he said, licking the chocolate off his bottom lip. Ryder set the plate to the side and moved closer. “You’ve got some chocolate,” he said, trailing off as he cupped Aimee’s cheek in his now free hand and kissed her. He wrapped his other hand around her waist and pulled her into his lap, laughing against her lips. He was too anxious to wait much longer. Ryder knew he’d being handing over the old heart box sooner rather than later.

Unlike a lot of girls who would've found his constant Italian annoying or frustrating, Aimee loved it. She could sit and listen to him speak it for hours; just watching his lips move and seeing how easily the words rolled off his tongue. Even if she couldn't understand what he was saying, it was still amazing. Part of her didn't want to learn the language so the romance of it all could stay, but that part ultimately lost. Aimee wanted to be able to speak his native language and recieve the proud, loving smile she was sure she'd get every time she spoke a word or phrase correctly. She wanted him to see that she cared enough to learn it.
"Buono, sono contento," she echoed back at him with a smile, her accent horrible next to his. But, she was trying. And, for the record, before he'd translated it she'd picked up one word from his phrase... sort of. Forgetting about her needed work on Italian, Aimee melted into the sweet kiss, standing up on her toes to reach his lips better. Sometimes being short had its advantages, but in the case of kissing her boyfriend, it definitely was a setback.
Aimee had been thrown after the big family dinner, that was a given. But, she also hadn't had him over to her house for a "formal" meal. She'd readily introduced him to her father, who smiled at the couple when he saw how happy his baby girl looked. That was the parent she wasn't concerned with. Her mother... that was sure to be a disaster. Mrs. March knew that her daughter was dating someone and that that someone often pulled her away from "work," but she had yet to find out who it was. And Aimee planned on keeping it that way for as long as she could. If Ryder had thought his grandfather was bad, wait until he meant the always judgemental, impossible standard seeking Bailey March.
She couldn't help grinning at him as he pulled back, looking up into his eyes with her sparkling ones. One of her hands reached up to gently brush some of his hair out of his eyes and she pecked his lips again. "I'm sure the pay will be just wonderful," she joked with a small smirk. Aimee had no doubt his other talents would work out though; he was too determined for them to. If anything, he was the one who should've had his dreams achieved in the end. He'd worked hard for them, much unlike her who'd had everything served up on a solid gold platter.
Shaking her head at him, she rolled her eyes jokingly and laughed. Aimee briefly saw his eyes stray from her and, for a paniked second, she thought someone else might've entered the usually bustling theatre. However, his attention was back to her as soon as it'd gone, but she was starting to feel something had to be up. Even for Ryder, this was extreme for a "regular" date.
As she finished her strawberry, Aimee already began longing for another one. Not eating lunch had taken its toll on her body, especially when you were already stick-thin to begin with. The hunger turned into a different one as Ryder's arms pulled her closer and she easily moved into his lap. "Delicious is right," she mumbled against his lips, smiling and wrapping her arms around his neck. Her soft fingers played with his loose hair, her smaller frame pressed close to his large, protecting one. Yeah, a night at the theatre would be fun afterall.

His heart was racing, almost like he could feel the blood pumping through his veins. He would have sworn the people on the street outside could hear it! He was over reacting, because of what he’d planned, he knew that, logically. Unfortunately, logic meant nothing at the moment, and Ryder was impressed he could form words and complete sentences. Ryder beamed, “There you go! You’re getting there! Soon, you’ll be able to just breeze through it all,” he said. He was so happy that Aimee cared about him enough to even try to learn Italian; he was so proud of her for it.
Ryder shook his head. “The pay would be fantastic, I’d bet,” he said, joking. Though he didn’t think he’d have to fall back on a third job; joke or otherwise. He still had another year of school, but he already had an internship set up for after he graduated; if he wanted it. Right at this moment, though, he wasn’t thinking about anything more pressing than getting through his moment with his heart intact. He didn’t care if he never made it out of the dive clubs the band played in around the City. He didn’t care if he didn’t even graduate from NYU with his degree. None of it mattered if Aimee wasn’t around to share it with him. And she was there now, and he was going to live in the moment.
Ryder hand moved slowly down to Aimee’s waist and tightened on her petite frame. He loved having her so close to him, pressed against him so close that he could feel her heart hammering in her chest. Ryder grinned against Aimee’s lips before trailing over her chin to her ear. Reluctantly, Ryder pulled away. With her sitting in his lap, he felt like he could go through with it. She couldn’t say no, could she? He hoped not, but he still held his breath as he reached over and picked up the heart box from its hiding spot. “A gift and a surprise,” he said, holding the box for her to take and open. He wasn’t sure what he wanted from all this. The answer every man hoped for, obviously, but he didn’t know what else. Did he want tears? Maybe but only if they were happy ones. Did he want squeals and excitement? He didn’t think Aimee was the type to squeal in his ear with joy. He sure as hell didn’t know, but he held his breath anyway and waited because whatever the outcome, he wouldn’t be ready for it.

Aimee could sense something was up with him tonight. It was made obvious by the brightness in his eye and the way he seemed so... nervous. She hoped it was a good nervous, not the "I don't know how to break up with you" nervous. If it was that... she shuddered at the thought. Losing Ryder would be torture. She was already wondering how she'd survived life thus far without him. But, now that she did have him, she never wanted to let him go; he was too special to even consider forgetting about. "Soon," she laughed, shaking her head, "More like ten years from now." No matter how hard she tried, she knew she'd never be able to completely shake her American accent when she tried to speak the Italian words. Italian wasn't her first language and never would be, but, she'd still try just to see Ryder smile proudly at her.
Aimee laughed again, kissing his cheek and smiling prettily up at him. She loved the flirting that seemed to be almost constantly present when the two were together. They laughed and joked together, and she loved it. Ryder made her days full of life once again. She didn't feel like she was growing up too fast anymore. Finally, she was getting to act like a lovestruck college kid.
Ever since that first afternoon making out on his couch, Aimee hadn't been able to stop the effects Ryder's touch had. Her heart pounded twice as fast, her stomach flip-flopped, each nerve in her body seemed to be heightened, awaiting the moment when his skin would brush hers. And it felt so friggin' amazing. She couldn't stop a breathless giggle as his lips moved down her face. The sensation sent tingles throughout her, making her heart beat that much quicker. Aimee moved to pull his face back to hers again, but he was pulling back. Stopping the pout that almost forced its way onto her lips, she looked up to see what he was doing. Her urge to pout turned into amazament as he held up a little box for her. Aimee blinked at him for a moment, trying to gather her wits again. This was for her? What had he bought her? It wasn't a special occasion; was it? No, it couldn't be. And it wasn't her birthday. So what the heck was it for?! Finally, she took the box, swallowing her nerves as she opened the top. Her breath caught in total shock as she stared at the delicate ring sitting inside. It was... it was beautiful. Stunning. Perfect. And then it dawned on her what rings usually meant. Her head jerked up in surprise as she blinked at Ryder, blue eyes wide with shock, excitement, happiness, but, mostly, love. "'Mrs. Wilcox.' I think I could get used to that," she whispered with a bright smile. And then, she reached up to kiss her future husband, her Ryder.

Ryder shook his head, brushing loose strands of hair out of Aimee’s face. His smile was full of the warmth and love he felt. “Don’t worry. You’ll be talking as fast as me in no time at all. I’d put money on it,” he said, chuckling. Whenever he got the chance, besides translating everything he said, he taught her little things; like breakfast the other morning. He’d made pancakes and had told her what everything was. Plus, lessons were usually easy to fit in like that, especially when you offered kisses instead of grades. And Aimee was already picking up little things, and trying so hard to learn, it was one of the countless things that Ryder loved so much about her. She tried so hard to learn and figure out what he said and he certainly didn’t expect her to but he loved her all the more for it.
Ryder smirked, leaning back just enough to look into Aimee’s pretty dark eyes. His breath felt like it was stuck in his throat. Since he’d met Aimee, he’d been so caught up in her in the best possible way. What she thought, how she felt meant so much to him. He wanted to do everything he could to make her happy. She was everything to him, everything he’d never known he wanted in his life; or needed. She was his heart, his soul, his treasure. His lips stretched into a grin; a mix of wicked fun and an awed amazement that she’d basically said yes to his as yet unspoken question. He tickled her side, laughing. “I haven’t even asked you anything yet,” he said, chuckling.
Carefully, Ryder took the pretty, delicate ring his sister had helped pick out, from the old box, his fingers shaking as he leaned into press his lips to hers in a quick kiss. “Aimee Elizabeth March,” he started with a choked laugh, “I promise to treasure you, stay by your side and love you until the day I die. Will you marry me?” he asked, looking deep into those big brown eyes as he took her left hand in his. His heart was still racing; he could feel the blood rushing through his veins. He knew the answer, but he hadn’t asked the question, so it was almost as if it hadn’t counted. Now though, now he’d asked, and was just waiting on her answer.

Aimee knew she wanted to marry Ryder. If she thought about it, she'd known since the moment their eyes first met. It was love at first sight, that unheard of fairy tale, but it was real for them. The current scene proved as much. They'd been together only a few weeks and already they knew they were meant to be together forever; it was real. Ryder was her Prince Charming, complete with guitar and spectacular hair. He was every girl's dream and now he was going to be all hers. She could already hear herself, "Hi, I'm Aimee Wilcox." It sounded so much better than her current name, a name she shared with her mother. A name that held so many expectations, she was surprised it was only five letters. Wilcox, though... now, that name held none of her mother's pressures. And it would also officially make her Ryder's forever more.
Right now, Aimee was the happiest she guessed she'd ever be. Ryder loved her, loved her enough to ask her to marry him. And she was going to say yes. To him, she wouldn't be a trophy wife, she'd be Aimee. Just Aimee. Finally, she had found her guy who wasn't interested in her money, or her reputation, or anything besides her. He was asking to marry her, Aimee March, not "Miss March, the designer's daughter." He was too perfect to be real sometimes. "You don't need to. It's written all across your face," she teased back, giggling and attempting to push his hands away from her sides.
She stopped wriggling as he lifted the beautiful ring from its box, her eyes watching it sparkle in the candlelight. Was this really all for her? Aimee met his lips readily, trying to convey all her love for him in that one simple kiss. The corners of her mouth tugged into a silly smile as he asked her the question every girl dreamt of hearing. She let him take her hand, eyes glimmering with pure joy as she answered. "Yes." One word, but it held the most weight it ever could. She was actually marrying Ryder; it felt like a dream all in itself. She was half-expecting to wake up and find herself alone in bed, but this felt too much like real life. And, it was better than anything her head could've come up with on its own.

After everything that went on with Nikki before this moment, Ryder wasn’t sure if it would come so soon. He was going to marry Aimee. That was the end of it, but he had wanted Nik to help him out, and he’d wanted her to be happy for him. He knew where she stood on marrying so young, but they weren’t the same person and Ryder had always been the more romantic of the two. He believed in love at first sight. He believed in spoiling his love. He really wanted that for his sister as much as he wanted it for himself. And with Aimee he had half of that. He didn’t want to dwell on the past anymore. Ryder ran his fingers through his messy hair and rolled his eyes at her. He may not have had to say the words, but he’d wanted to. He wanted Aimee and the life they would share together; a Rock Star and a Fashion Designer, what a pair.
After the question past his lips, Ryder could feel his breathe catch again. If she decided to change her mind in that instant, he was sure he’d die. Overdramatic? Probably, but that didn’t stop his brain from thinking, if she says no, he was done for. Of course, she hadn’t and he felt the breath leave his lungs in a loud whoosh. Laughter burst from him as he slipped the ring, with shaky fingers, onto her left hand before leaning as close as he could manage and as he wrapped his arms around her, he pressed his lips to hers. Their first kiss as an engaged couple; just call him sentimental, but he wanted to remember the moment forever. It had started out, for Aimee, as just another one of their spontaneous dates, but it was going to end so much better than the rest.
He laughed against her lips and he kissed her again. “I love you, Aimee Wilcox,” he said, liking the sound of his name attached to hers. He didn’t think he’d ever get used to it, but he’d have at least 50 years to try. And when they were old and grey and sitting on the porch swing out at the cabin by the lake, that Ryder designed and built himself, they would look back on this precious moment as the sun set and think it couldn’t have been any better because it was just perfect for them. He had the girl of his dreams wrapped in his arms, he didn’t think he could get any happier.
