Fallon wasn’t too worried about the shenanigans the boys would bring on coming to the city, but she could play along with a touch of sarcastic concern. She spent four years of her life with these guys. There probably wasn’t a single thing they could do at this point that would shock the blonde. There were nights that she didn’t remember but if the stories were anything to go by, she was just as bad as they were. Of course, that wasn’t exactly news. Get her with the group and no one was safe. Her smile was wicked as she ran her hand up his arm. “I’m sure we can fix that,” she said, looking up at him through her lashes. Right in this moment, she didn’t care that ten minutes ago they were having a yelling match in front of her whole class, and now they were all over each other. She never thought she would be able to be this close to Gabe. Fall never thought she could ever be so flirtatious with Gabe, but she could be. And damn if she wasn’t going to take advantage of it.
She remembered that bar and flushed remembering the finer details of that night. Fall was pretty sure that night was pretty much the only thing she remembered from that trip. It didn’t help that ninety percent of that trip she’d been drunk and using everyone as her personal transportation service; no walking for her, only piggy back rides! “And then some,” she said, rolling her eyes. Even Fallon couldn’t recall every single thing that happened in college, and probably for the better, but Myles had some sort of superhuman memory or something because he could recall tales of the first few months of meeting each other and the parties that occurred then. Of course, Fallon had been a bit more of the wild side of things her freshman year, having only been to a proper school for a single year. She had a lot of partying to make up for and she did just that, while thanking her lucky stars she wasn’t one of the heiress the tabloids cared much about. She had been followed by photographers a few times, trying to get stories on her and her uncle but she’d made sure there hadn’t been anything worth mentioning up until college. It was a good thing they weren’t allowed on campus or Fallon would have been on the receiving end of Trevor’s glare for the first time in her life.
Fall couldn’t help but roll her eyes. Having the free for all yelling match had been more important than his work, it had been more important than teaching her class; what did that say about them? There was a lot of tension, a lot of passion clearly. And now they couldn’t stop touching each other. A simple brush of a hand, a sweet kiss and a quick smile were all that concerned them now. They didn’t have an audience hanging on to their every word; they’d scattered the moment she’d threatened essay work. Fallon was considering meeting those students just to tell them they would have to reschedule their appointment. Of course, if they knew what was good for them, they wouldn’t show up at all. That would open up the rest of whatever was left of the day for her and Gabe to talk; because that really needed to be done unless they wanted to go another round. “You might want to go get that then. Crazy library lady has the hots for you and your things might be gone to make her little shrine if you don’t get back to collect it all,” she said, eyes wide and serious looking up at him. She was teasing, naturally. They both knew the librarian had a serious hatred for all the people in the library. Fallon figured the positively ancient woman thought the library was her own personal space and all the students there doing work were intruders. “How about you go get your stuff before that happens and meet me at my office when you’re done. Either way, I’ll be there, I have to grab some work so I won’t be long.” She wouldn’t have to come up with an explanation. The two students she was meeting with were from this class, and the chances of them even waiting at her office were pretty slim after that song and dance. That meant she could just grab the hardcopies of the work she still had to mark and be done with the school for another day.
There really wasn’t anything Fallon could say to that that would lead them anywhere other than down overdramatic lane; and she’d filled her drama quota for the day, her week and possibly even the month. And considering the last time he’d been around her bosses, she’d had to tell him the whole who’s who. Fallon thought about that for a minute. They’d been out plenty of times before, but all those times didn’t really mean anything. This time would and Fallon wanted to do it all right. She wanted to spend hours going through her closet and tossing everything away, hating it all. She wanted to be perfect though he’d seen her in practically everything she owned. “I’d really like that. But for tonight, I’ll burn dinner then you can order something,” she suggested laughing. She really wasn’t that poor of a cook. Trevor had taught her how to cook, and she’d taken up a stool with the caterers to watch them prepare food, too, when she was able to. She chalked up her mistakes to being distracted.

He was kind of lucky that Fallon had seen so much when it came to the Pi Kappa Phi boys. She might have been armed with more than enough blackmail to get through life with, but it also meant that there was little to be shocked at if Gabe did show up at her door with a bruise or a scratch or two. The guys wouldn’t do any serious harm, but guys will be guys and one prank or two might get out of hand and it wouldn’t be the first time their party antics had landed the floppy haired scholar on his ass with a bruise to act as a reminder as to why they should never do that again. His jaw fell slack slightly as her hand moved up his arm and he noticed the flirtatious tone in her voice. Never would he have thought Fallon would genuinely be flirting with him in a way that wasn’t them exaggerating Myles’ attempt at picking up girls in whatever bar he had recently discovered. Still, it was what he had only dreamt of after too much Jaeger and a night of bad dancing. “I might need some physical therapy too.”
He said in a low voice, pulling Fallon just that little bit closer. Now that he had her in his arms, Gabe didn’t want to let Fallon go. He knew that what they had done today had been totally inappropriate, but he didn’t give a single damn about it. A screaming show down had been worth it to get here; though he did wish that they didn’t have to go through the week of torture too. He had been totally unable to focus on his work throughout all of this and whilst he knew that he should probably work hard to catch up on what he had been unable to do, Gabe just wanted to spend time with the blonde girl currently in his hold. A few all-nighters, Red Bull and a roommate more than willing to hit him awake if it was necessary and Gabe could easily make the work up; he knew what he was talking about, after all! Dramatically shuddering, Gabe continued with their on-going joke about the haggard looking librarian. “Please, the second she figures out it’s mine she’ll burn it in the hopes of me never returning again, regardless of how many strings my girlfriend can pull.” He dropped it in there, his eyes fixed to gauge her expression at the mention of ‘girlfriend’. It was the least he wanted and whilst they still had some serious talking to do, it wouldn’t change that one bit. He just hoped she didn’t think him presumptive or anything when to him it was so obviously the next step to clear up. Grinning, he nodded his head and then bent down to kiss her once more, still wrapping his head around what had just happened in the now empty lecture hall. “Yes, ma’am. I’ll be at your office before you, most probably.” He didn’t really want to walk away from her, even though practical reasons demanded it. The conversation that would follow wasn’t exactly one he was eager to have, but once it was out of the way they could look forward to whatever the fates had planned for them next without that nasty baggage holding them back, ready to be flung at the next hurdle they came across. He wanted to take her out for a night on the town. One where they wouldn’t have to prop Myles up after tequila shots took a turn for the worst, or where they split the bill or ate in one of their favourite local joints. He wanted to spoil her to a fancy meal in a restaurant where hoodies would be frowned upon and loud jokes and laughter would get them kicked out. He wanted to walk her home under the stars, kiss her innocently on the steps to her apartment building and then watch the sun rise with her curled in his arms. He let out a warm laugh and nodded in agreement. “Just not pancakes. I don’t think I could stand to see you murder them again.” He joked, playfully grabbing at her side. He had a feeling that it would be one of those things he would bring up time and time again to use against her and hopefully, one day, would lead to them laughing about their awkward morning together and the ensuing week. Still, a proper night in with Fallon without drunken confessions or whining…no wonder that smile suddenly seemed to be fixed on his face. “I know I should go and get my things, but I don’t want to.” He said, whining childishly as he buried his face in her neck. He was scared that letting her go now and walking out of this room might lead to him losing her, for some crazy reason. [/blockquote][/blockquote] • • • TAGGED! The Hollywood blonde was becoming less concerned about the guys coming to town. She had far too much on them for anything to get so bad and out of hand. Besides, she’d been around them nearly nonstop for four years or more; she knew how far they’d push it. And failing that, she had plenty that could end them. She wouldn’t of course, but in the heat of the moment, none of them knew that and they couldn’t read Fallon as well as Gabe could. He knew when she was ‘acting’, they didn’t. There were a couple nights she got some of the guys out of trouble by flashing that innocent smile of hers; and failing that she named dropped, as much as she hated to. The last time she flirted with Gabe, they’d been teasing Myles about his technique at the clubs. “Mm,” she said, nodding her head, looking up at Gabe with a serious expression. “I’ll add it to the list,” she said with a saucy smirk, kissing him after lightly nipping at his bottom lip playfully.
Fallon’s smile was bright and she felt a happy blush creep over her cheeks as she leaned up more to kiss him again. “Your girlfriend is a film professor, remember? I can’t pull as many strings as you think I can,” she said, insanely happy to hear him call her his girlfriend; like it made it all that much more real. “At least, not in the library,” she amended, laughing. She didn’t think she could get so excited and happy about a title before this moment. And as bad romantic comedy as it may have sounded, she really was excited to hear him call her his girlfriend. Sighing, Fallon tore her eyes away from Gabe to look behind her at the desk she took over whenever she walked through the door. At least it didn’t look like her office, which small parts of looked like a tornado swept through, throwing everything into disarray. “Looking at that, I wouldn’t doubt it. It’s always a mess by the end of class, even when I make sure everything is in a proper place.”
Fallon rolled her eyes, smirking. "One time! One single time I burn crepes and it's all you can remember! I did have a damn good reason for that though," she said, shaking her head. She'd been freaking out. Something she rarely did. Fallon was usually so confident, so brave and yet, she'd crumbled like a day old cookie at the thought of the night before. Still, she held up her fingers like the Scout's. "I'll make chicken or stir-fry. Maybe we should just skip the meal burning and go straight to take away," she said, thinking out loud. Her head tilted to the side slightly. Skipping the kitchen session might be wise if they were going to be talking about everything that happened between them that was happening between them. If she’d been so distracted then, she could just imagine what she’d be like now. She was going to forgo the wine this time around. She could drink hard liquor straight, she hated beer but could drink it- you couldn’t hang out around a frat and not drink beer. But for the life of her, she was not good on the wine, despite having a mini fridge full of bottles. Sighing, Fallon brought her arms down to wrap around his waist, holding him close. “You’re not getting rid of me that easily,” she breathed against his ear. She didn’t want to, it felt too good to have Gabe this close, but she eventually stepped back, leaving Gabe to stand on his own. She leaned up quickly to press a kiss to his lips. “I’ll see you in fifteen minutes,” she said, laughing, before stepping back again.

Gabe didn’t spend too much time thinking about what would be done to him. He knew that Myles would probably be in charge of the night out with the brothers and he had enough to ruin his friend’s player reputation that it wasn’t worth worrying over. Plus, it was all good natured tradition that he had laughed and participated in before when the other guys had fallen head over heels for their girls. Some of them were even engaged to be married now and they still got stick from the rest of the Pi Kappa Phis. Maybe it was a guy thing in general, but it was harmless good fun. He couldn’t hide the boyish grin at her words, still unable to believe that this was serious flirting and not them mocking someone else. Still, he kissed her back, sighing contently and pausing to control himself; if he didn’t then neither of them would be making it to Fallon’s office! “And lots of bed rest.”
He mumbled, unable to stop the words from slipping past his lips. The fact that she didn’t laugh in his face or look terrified made his growing grin widen even more. There hadn’t been many girls with that title in his life, but this time it seemed so much more important. It was like their next step was official now, and after they had gone through all the stages to get here, and dragged it all out over seven years it just seemed all the more special to him, especially when she was smiling at him like that. “My girlfriend is the most amazing film professor, but I guess you’re right. I’m fairly certain that she hasn’t even seen parts of the library.” He teased, comparing his bookish ways to her love of Hollywood. Gabe enjoyed movies, but his favourites were from times gone by and often included Marlon Brando or Frank Sinatra in the lead. Still, Fallon was really the only person who he would watch movies with and the rest of time he preferred a good book or several. He chuckled as his eyes followed hers to the desk. Gabe’s workstations always ended up cluttered with papers, books and journals he didn’t even recall taking out from the library. Luckily, most of the time, he could leave it a mess and just pick back up where he left off after some sleep, but there had been occasions when he had passed out in a mountain of journals and old book scents, only to wake up with them more scattered than his early morning thoughts. “I’d love to be a good boyfriend right now and sympathise with you, but as your best friend still, I know you too well to think a messy desk is a strange phenomenon in your life.” He joked, stealing a quick kiss from her before she would have a chance to respond with that quick wit of hers. Acting as though he had been haunted by the memory, Gabe faked a cold shiver and closed his eyes. “But I can still smell their charred remains in that pan.” He joked in a false cracking voice. Smiling softly down at the only woman he had ever loved, Gabe reached out to brush the hair from her blue eyes, his fingers trailing lightly over her jaw and neck. “All of our reasoning ends in surrender to feeling.” He quoted in a whisper, his eyes never leaving hers. Whilst he was curious about her actions that morning, he didn’t really care too much about them. To him, what was important was where they were now and just how far they had come to get here together. Bending down, he pressed his lips to hers once more and then chuckled at her musings. “I think take-out might be the safest option tonight. I don’t really want to have to explain any of the numerous reasons why we might end up setting fire to your apartment.” He said, knowing that their conversation and other distractions would probably pull their minds away from the common sense etiquette of cooking. He grinned at her once she was out of him arms and took a step back, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his jeans, resuming his usual awkward stance. “I’ll be there in ten.” Pushing his glasses into place, he left the hall, a clear bounce in his step as he moved back to the library quickly, his Chuck clad feet moving a little too fast as the young scholar tripped and stumbled through the door, earning himself a glare from the shrew of the librarian when he almost face planted the floor. Grabbing his things and checking out the latest book he needed, Gabe shoved it all into his bag and then proceeded to make his way to Fallon’s office. He would’ve strode in in his usual fashion, but the door was locked, so he was resigned to leaning against the wall, still grinning a grin the Cheshire Cat would be proud of. His mind replayed the last hour of his life and he kept smiling at the knowledge that Fallon was in love with him, she was his girlfriend and that, at last, he had finally experienced what all the great French Medieval Classics were trying to say. “I might just have to take a couple days off, I’m feeling a cold coming on,” she said, purposefully sniffling and faking a cough. “I could be out for a while,” Fallon added, biting her lip. The last time she held the title of girlfriend, it had all been a fraud. But this time around it felt different, it felt real. Fallon sent Gabe a bland look. “I haven’t, and I don’t think I ever will, even with you spending days on end in the musty old room,” she said with a shudder. She wasn’t even sure she stepped foot in the library during college unless she was searching out the scholar. More often, the books she needed for assignments, she already owned in the house library. And if they weren’t there, she went out and bought a copy to have on hand in case she ever needed them in the future. When she had stepped foot in the library back then, searching Gabe out, she never stayed very long; just long enough to talk him out of the building. Fallon practically lived on the beach and spending all the time she did in classrooms made her itch. It was a little ironic that she spent so much time indoors and away from the sun and outdoors now.
Fallon’s house was the complete opposite of her office and the desks she used in classrooms. Those were messy, despite trying to keep some sort of order; her house was spotless, with everything having a place to be. The office space in her penthouse was a mess, but no one went in there so tended to let that room slide under the radar. Fallon started to say something about that but Gabe caught her off guard, stealing kisses to quiet her. It was fast becoming her favourite way to stall an argument. She shrugged once she got her wits about her again, “Creativity is a messy trait.” She was used to working in disarray, but at least she knew where everything was and knew when someone moved something for a prank. It usually ended up with her freaking out about people touching her things and Gabe and Myles laughing at her for being so crazy.
Gasping, Fallon hit Gabe’s bicep. “It wasn’t that bad! Better than the last time you tried to cook something!” she said, shaking her head as though saddened by the memory. She was looking up at Gabe with that newly permanent smile on her face when he said something she’d never heard before. It was sweet, and she felt like she might understand it. “That’s nice. Where did you find that?” she asked, curiosity getting the better of her once again. Gabe was always spilling some new fact, or quoting some long dead scholar. She enjoyed hearing what he had to say, even if she didn’t understand half of it. Laughing, Fallon could help but nod her head, agreeing with him. It would be a hell of a lot safer to order a pizza or something than it would be to make something. That talk they had to have would take up all their attention and Fallon would completely forget about the food. She cringed, biting her lip to hold back more laughter. “I’m sure they’ve heard it all, but I don’t want us to be another story they tell sitting around the fire station. Pizza?” She asked, going straight to her favourite takeout food.
She watched him leave, smirking the entire time and thinking he’d be seeing her office door before he’d see her. She waited until the doors slammed shut before she turned around and just sat on the edge of the desk for a minute, going over everything in her head. She’d already admitted she had been scared; she didn’t want to have to explain that she was afraid of ruining what they already had, even though she was supposed to know better. Running her fingers through her hair, the Hollywood blonde sighed and turned around before collecting all her things and stuffing the entire mess into her bag, not worrying about organization and just thinking that the soon she got everything in a bag and back to her office the faster she’d be back in Gabe’s arms. It took the pair seven years to see it, seven years to finally act on it, and Fallon thought with a smirk, that she should go back to that restaurant and thank the skank who broke Gabe to the point that he showed up on her doorstep, so drunk he could barely stand. Because without her, Fallon would still be denying her feelings, burying them so deep even she wasn’t aware of them.
Everything gathered, Fallon hit the lights, locked up and wove through the people in the hall as quickly as she could to get back to her office. She barely said two words to anyone who tried to catch her, needing to get out and back down to her office. She still had to stop at the main office for her mail, collecting a quickly scrawled note from the two students; they would reschedule later. The huge grin on her face was glued there as she walked down the hall, and it would probably stay there for a very long time. She hardly looked the part of professor, turning the corner to the offices as she dug around in one of her bags for her keys. She was far too giddy and seeing Gabe leaning against the wall next to her door made her heart stop for a second. She practically skipped down the hall, acting so far from the professor she was and much like a giddy teenager. “Please tell me you haven’t been waiting so long there’s a thin layer of dust gathering,” she teased, brushing away an invisible layer of dust from his shoulder before turning her attention away to quickly unlock the door, sure she’d spent way too much time thinking about the last hour or so, as well as the last week. In the classroom, they were alone, after those initial moments anyway, but in the hall there was always some other teacher walking around, students coming from meetings; it was never empty unless it was near midnight and it felt like she was the only one left on campus. Laughing, Fallon grabbed Gabe’s hand and practically dragged him past the wooden door to her office.

Gabe feigned concern and placed his hand to Fallon’s forehead. “You are very hot.”
He said, fighting back a smirk at his double meaning as his other hand grabbed at her side to pull her closer. He must’ve been spending too much time with Myles to be using a line like that, but it didn’t feel awkward when it was Fallon who he was complimenting in such a fun, joking manner. Maybe that was something he should’ve noticed long before, but what mattered was that he recognised those feelings now and they were doing something about it, rather than hiding behind excuses and awful dates with people who should be more aware of how they hurt others around them. If half of the girls he had dated had been the tiniest bit like Fallon then there was a chance he wouldn’t have been so broken hearted from them all. However, they were the last people on his mind right now. “And here I was thinking you wanted to be part of my life.” He teased, acting hurt at her disinterest in the library. Gabe could personally spend the rest of his life with just an alcove changed into a living area in some disused corner of the large library. Neatness was not something that Gabe could boast as a trait either. With the way his thoughts bounced from one thing to another without much warning there wasn’t really a chance to work with a specific structure or pattern. It was something he managed to work with pretty simply, describing his own desk as organised chaos, which suited him just fine given that most of his writing was finding sense and logic in old texts, some of which were so bizarre they really did seem as though they were born from chaos. “Actually, Parnassus, which is the mythical home of pretty much everything creative, believed that there were two forms of creativity; Apollonian and Dionysian. Nietzche describes the Dionysian as the one that ‘embraces the chaotic nature of such experience as all-important; not just on its own, but as it is intimately connected with the Apollonian. The Dionysian magnifies man, but only so far as he realizes that he is one and the same with all ordered human experience. The godlike unity of the Dionysian experience is of utmost importance in viewing the Dionysian as it is related to the Apollonian because it emphasizes the harmony that can be found within one’s chaotic experience.’” He said, losing himself in scholarly texts and the information he knew at a young age, thanks to his mother. “In other words, you’re pretty Dionysian.” He finished, with a wide smile and that twinkle in his eyes that only appeared when he was talking about the many things locked in that brain of his. Pointing his finger to emphasise his point, Gabe waited for Fallon to finish and then slowly reiterated a point he had made time and time again since that night in question. “That, like I’ve told you before, was Myles. He changed the temp of everything and wanted to experiment with the spice rack. But, yeah, pizza sounds like a plan.” His roommate insisted that he wasn’t drunk, but Gabe still thought otherwise to this very day. No other time had Myles ever tried to help in the kitchen or accidentally sabotage a meal! “Blaise Pascal; a French child prodigy in mathematics and the sciences before turning to philosophy. Most of the things that drove you crazy in high school algebra probably came from his work.” The theories were fascinating, but Gabe made little attempt to memorise them exactly since he was always more interested in the philosophy side. Chuckling, he nodded his head in agreement before pushing the hair from his eyes again. “True, and knowing our luck, one of them would know Myles.” The CSI did seem to know someone in all of the professions that could tie in with crime solving. Whilst he waited, he thought back over the last seven years and the highlights that that pretty much had brought them to this moment. He couldn’t quite wrap his head around how it had taken them so long, but it seemed right this way. There were no dreams to chase across the country, they both knew what they wanted from their lives and they were still young to enjoy themselves with this relationship too. Maybe this was their time. His smile only grew when she appeared in front of him, brushing his shoulder. “The cleaning lady gave me a once over with some polish and a cloth, just to keep me looking good for your arrival.” He joked, laughing as she pulled him through the door. Gabe kicked the wood back into place and tugged on her hand to pull her closer, pressing his lips to hers now that they were alone. He lowered his bag to the floor and wrapped his hands around her waist, pulling her closer and savouring the moment they were finally together and alone without the threat of prying student eyes. Fallon had to fight back a smirk, demanding herself stay serious for the time being. She nodded her head, pouting. She would start laughing if she said anything back to that, so she kept her mouth shut. But she kept thinking that Gabe spent way too much time with his roommate, if he was spouting off double edged comments. It still brought a blush to her face, the only reaction she made towards the compliment apart from the pout and nod. It felt so natural to be with Gabe. It had always seemed so natural flirting with Gabe, despite the fact that before this day, they were just joking around and teasing Myles about his game. It seemed so obvious now, like a slap to the face. No one who was just friends joked around the way they did, took care of each other the way they did. Anyone flirting with Fallon went up against the guys she had in her life, they were always compared between Gabe and Myles. If they were like the other Pi Kappa Phi brother, Fallon knew how to handle them and knock them down until they were running away with their tail tucked, and no one had ever compared to Gabe. “Nope,” Fallon said, laughing. “Never that at all,” she added, teasing. Give Fallon a theater, a movie set or a good script and she was in her element. A big, old room full of books was something she’d always had in her home in California and now in New York, but she hardly read in those rooms. And when she did, what she read was either scripts or biographies on the old Hollywood stars.
Try as she might, Fallon didn’t have a clue what Gabe was running on about. But she could honestly say she did like listening to him talk about everything he knew. She was impressed with all that bottled up information stuck in his head. She only knew Hollywood, new and old. The Hollywood blonde could tell you anything you needed to know about the movies, but she couldn’t spout of anything remotely relevant to anything scholarly. She smiled and nodded her head. “I have absolutely no idea what you said, but I’m going to assume it was nice. And if it wasn’t somehow, you’ll pretend it was,” she said, laughing, reaching up to press her lips to his. “You looked good saying it all the same,” she added, teasingly when she pulled away slightly. Fallon rolled her eyes, pretending to check her nails, as if she were bored with the same old song and dance. “Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’ve heard it all before. Let me know when you’ve come up with the truth, would you?” she asked, teasing. Fallon remembered the night solely because she nearly choked, gagging. Myles didn’t remember a second of the night, despite saying he did adamantly.
"Damn," Fallon said on a sigh, snapping her fingers. "I was hoping you were going to say you made that up. Just my luck," she said teasing. "And for your information, I was damn good at Algebra, thank you very much. It was calculus and the rest that bothered me," she said. She'd been good at algebra while the rest of the kids on set or even in class that only year she went to high school had trouble with it. She had hated every other second of math, but algebra she understood and finished before the teacher was even finished assigning all the questions from the textbook. “That would be our luck,” she agreed, rolling her eyes at the mere thought of Myles spilling any and all stories he had filling up that head of his.
Fallon had wanted to get back to her office to pick up the rest of the work she needed to bring home and Gabe and get back to her place. She knew it would be empty of any lingering roommates getting ready for work or a night on the town, regardless of the fact it was still pretty early in the week. For a guy that worked a pretty steady shift, he was home at the weirdest hours. At least at her place the only one lingering was the kitten she’d adopted for company. Fallon laughed, rolling her eyes again. “Lucky me,” she said, turning at the tug and falling into Gabe’s chest breathlessly. Fallon’s bags fell to the ground next to Gabe’s as her arms came up to wrap around his shoulders. Being agile gave her an advantage and tightening her hold, Fallon shimmied up, wrapping her legs around his waist, laughing against his lips. She loved the height difference between them, she always felt so safe wrapped up with him, but it was a bit of a disadvantage now and that she didn’t like much.

To look at his brothers, it was amusing to say the least that Gabe was a scholarly as he was. Both Morgan and Ewan had been high school jocks who were both still athletic now. They were the brawn when Gabe was the brains. Really, if it hadn’t been for them going before him, he probably would’ve spent high school as one of the kids who got shoved in lockers and teased relentlessly. He had just always been closer with his mom and she had been the one who got him interested in what he knew so much about today. His brothers were older and playing with the other kids in the street or the fields around their home, but Gabe was ‘too young’ for that. Still, even when he was old enough, Gabe was much more content with a book and a discussion about the varying accounts of things his mom taught. “You hurt me, Fallon Flynn.”
He said dramatically, clutching his chest as though he had been wounded by her words. He knew not everyone shared his thirst for knowledge and he had never been the kind of guy to convert someone, despite how often he’d start rambling about something no one else around him knew of. His biggest flaw was probably the way he could ramble on regardless of whether he was boring the living souls out of the people he was with. It was almost as though he had to speak so much about something or else he would self-combust with the knowledge trapped inside his head. Luckily, most people in his life were used to it by now and just let him get on with it without asking too many questions. He smirked down at her and took a moment to breathe. “I think it was nice. There are some people who would disagree, but then there always has to be someone to find a flaw in a perfectly poetic idea, or side with the more logic side of something that is entirely improvable.” His mind was still buzzing with Nietzche quotes and theories. Still, they all halted when Fallon’s lips touched his; something he probably wouldn’t ever get used to or tire of. “You just don’t want to admit that I am a better cook than you.” He teased, flicking the tip of her nose playfully. “I’m good, but I’m not that good!” He ruffled her hair and grinned. “Well fine then, but he probably had a hand in calculus too; man was a genius, after all.” He told her, pulling a face. He had strolled through Maths, but it wasn’t a pleasant one and he spent many a night pawing over Maths homework, trying to find sense in equations that had none. Still, the hard work paid off and he made the required grades to keep everything looking good on the books. He nodded at Fallon’s agreement; how long would they wait to tell Myles anything now? He was Gabe’s other best friend, but he also was the kind of guy who would tell everyone and make a massive deal out of it all when they didn’t want one. Still, it felt wrong to keep it from him after the explosion he had been on the receiving end of right before Gabe had left for Nebraska. He had never wanted to leave campus more than he did right now. When they were away from college kids and interrupting professors, they would be alone and they could talk, sort all of this out and make this relationship work without any lingering niggles in the backs of minds about this last week between them. Still, they were alone in the office for now and he had to grin when Fallon used him as a fireman’s pole to shimmy up. He tightened his grip and moved his arms to support her more in that position. There were so many thoughts racing through his head right now and none of them were appropriate for this environment in the slightest. “If we don’t move for that pizza soon, then we probably won’t.” He said as calmly as he could, though the husky tone of his voice probably gave away the underlying meaning of his words. There was just something about Fallon that made him feel like a hormonal teenage boy again – especially when she was wrapped around him like a koala bear! “Pain is love, Darling,” she said, trying to sound the least bit scholarly. She doubted she was pulling it off at all and quickly gave up trying. Gabe could have his knowledge and books; Fallon was perfectly fine with dragging him away from time to time to laze about with movies, both new and old. Still, he could always ramble on about whatever caught his attention all he wanted around her. She found it all so fascinating. How he could have all that knowledge just waiting on the sidelines to be useful in any given situation. And there was almost always something ready to burst from that head of his, no matter how unconnected it seemed to Fallon at first. Fallon knew she had flaws, probably too many to count, but that was what made her Fallon. If she didn’t have them, she would be some other girl, with different flaws. But she’d never thought of Gabe’s need to tell others what he knew as a flaw. It inspired Fallon to learn more and she thought it would inspire others one day, too. She knew some of the Frat boys just wanted him to keep his mouth shut, but they weren’t his brothers, they didn’t know him. “Then nice it is,” she said, pulling away slightly with a grin on her face. Fal wrinkled her nose, rubbing at it with her free hand. “Ouch!” she pouted. “There needs to be a cook-off now. And Myles can be the judge!” Not that the other Pi Kappa Phi brother would be unbiased in the situation. The chance of Fallon winning that would have to come in the form of a bribe of some sort.
“One day,” she said wrinkling her nose at her hair being ruffled and ruined. Not that it was in any particular style that day. She’d put little effort into her appearance, having been too distraught over the possibility of losing Gabe forever to stupidity to care much about what her students thought of her that day. Fallon could still remember being in the study trailer, not being allowed out until she’d finished her work. On a set, there was no such thing as homework. It got done when the tutors were there to help work through it all, or it was set aside for the next day. By rights, Fallon should have finished school much sooner than she had, but had stopped going to the tutor’s trailer because she wanted to be a senior at a real high school. She had wanted that experience, and that had brought on Brad. Looking back, it had been a stupid decision to even agree to go out with him the first time. Trevor had said there was something. But Fallon hadn’t listened and Trev was all about letting her make her own mistakes. “Tomorrow is soon enough to tell Myles,” she said looking up into his mesmerizing brown eyes, understanding the bond the two guys shared. They were more than just best friends and roommates; they really were brothers, so close.
Fallon sighed, resting her head on Gabe’s shoulder. He was right, naturally. If they didn’t leave the office, they never would and the janitor would be finding them in a compromising position. After the production they put on it the lecture hall, finding them tangled together on the little sofa she had in the office would really get her fired for sure. “Alright, you win,” she said and with one last peck to the cheek, Fallon detangled herself. And once she got her balance, not used to being in flats around the much taller man, she bent, grabbed her bag before turning and heading straight to her desk. She was flustered and by the tone in Gabe’s voice, he wanted to be as far from campus as they could get. She didn’t know what she needed. Some of it she knew, but not all and certainly not after that. She was lucky to remember her name after that! And it would hopefully only be getting better from this moment on. She gathered what she could remember, tossing it into her bag; working it out that if she couldn’t remember it, it just couldn’t be all that important in the first place and could wait until she had gathered her wits once again. “And done,” she said, hoping she’d gotten at least everything that was important enough to still be on her mind when she finally had Gabe alone with no interruptions or witnesses to their display.
She walked back to Gabe, picking up her other bag from the floor at his feet to search out the keys she automatically threw in there every time she locked or unlocked the office door. And after all this time, she thought she actually had her hormones under some semblance of control. That notion flew right out the window whenever Gabe touched her. He just made her lose control. When they were outside the office, Fallon automatically locked up, and after tucking her hand in Gabe’s, practically raced through the corridors walking so fast to the nearest exit and her car in the faculty lot. She’d been at the school early that morning so her car wasn’t parked as far as it usually was from the door. It took barely thirty seconds to get from the door to the SUV she’d gotten before the move to New York. Her Jeep, as much as she loved the powder blue door-less, roofless vehicle, it wasn’t exactly appropriate for the colder weather of New York. So it had stayed behind in California. Keys in hand still, she hit the button for the locks, letting go of Gabe’s hand when they came to the vehicle. She tossed her bags in the back seat before climbing in behind the wheel, clicking in the seatbelt and starting the engine. Fallon was used to the busy streets, having grown up in the hustle of Hollywood. She worked her way through the light traffic, keeping up a trivial conversation; like when they should order the pizza because Fall was not waiting around for the pie to be made and adding extra time before they finally got home.
They couldn’t have the conversation they needed to when Fallon’s mind wasn’t really in it. And knowing her, she’d been too busy looking at something else, to properly hear the words and end up saying something she didn’t mean. It happened before in LA, quite a few times, it couldn’t happen with that specific topic. Finally, though, Fallon pulled into her buildings parking lot, and into her assigned spot. Within seconds the engine was cut, the seatbelt was off and Fallon herself was already outside the car, gathering her things from the backseat. She waited for Gabe behind her car, hitting the locks again before twining her fingers with his and heading into the building. It felt like the elevator took forever but soon enough they were walking through the door to Fallon’s top floor apartment.

Running his fingers through his hair, Gabe shot Fallon a weary look. “I think after this last week I’d rather take my love without the side order of heart breaking pain.”
He said with a lopsided smile before kissing her sweetly again. He knew he wasn’t quite like most of the guys of his age in New York City, but he had stopped comparing himself to those a long time ago, even before the Fraternity antics of the Pi Kappa Phi boys. He was proud of his knowledge and no one would ever be able to take that from him, no matter what. His friends might give him stick for all that he knew, but Gabe didn’t mind in the slightest and quickly found things to pick back at them with; for Myles it was usually his womaniser tactics and with Fallon it was often her role as professor or her petite height. Laughing, the scholar shook his head. “As if Myles needs a reason for food. Two meals cooked for him? He’ll be grinning like the Cheshire Cat for weeks and still probably won’t have picked a winner. He’ll try to turn us into his own culinary team.” There had been far too many times in life when Myles had come in after his shift was over and loomed over Gabe’s shoulder when the PhD student was preparing his own dinner, repeating how good it smelt or how tasty it looked. The man could probably charm food better than he could girls, if that were possible. He was forever amazed by how well Fallon could read him. It seemed as though it had always been like that between them both and yet the biggest unspoken thing between them for seven years went unnoticed or ignored, he didn’t know which yet. This was one of those moments when he fell a little harder for Fallon; something he didn’t think possible. His feelings for her were already overwhelming, if this last week and the show he caused this morning weren’t enough to prove that, but those few seemingly simple words meant more to him that he could probably put into mythological terms. Myles certainly was more than the typical roommate and Gabe was just as close to him as he was to his two biological brothers. It would probably take some disastrous miracle to tear them apart now. The fact that Fallon knew that without even having to try and explain it was amazing and he could think of no words for a short moment, instead stepping forward to kiss her sweetly again, resting his forehead against hers afterwards. “I love you, Fall.” He smiled down at her and kissed her nose as he pulled her into a tight hug. Gabe watched as Fallon collected her things around the office. He picked up his bag and placed it over his shoulder, composing himself and pulling himself together. If they were going to make it through their necessary discussion then he would have to be able to focus on the words other than what else they could be doing together. He could do it, he knew that, but his mind was still swimming with unleashed feelings and part of him didn’t want to have to talk about what had happened now that they seemed to have come out of it with what they both wanted. Still, he knew he couldn’t run from it; it was something that had to happen between them both if they wanted this to work. The trivial car ride conversation was just the way they usually were; the same old banter, jokes and meaningless chatter that they had always shared. His stomach was still knotted with anxiety about what they might say, about what drove them to react the way they did that fateful morning just a short week ago. Something told him that everything was going to be alright, that whilst it might have been awkward, it would still work out good in the end. In Fallon’s apartment, Gabe dropped his bag near the door and looked around the place he had been countless times since he made the move to New York. It felt weird – in a good way – to be in his girlfriend’s apartment. The last time he had been here he had wanted to leave more than anything else; the awkward breakfast and pretence that everything was normal was not something he ever wished to experience ever again. Entwining his fingers with hers, Gabe pulled Fallon towards the couch where everything had begun. He took a seat, adjusting those geek chic glasses she adored so much before smiling across at her. “So…I don’t really know how this works.” He confessed with an awkward laugh. How did they go about talking about this? [/blockquote][/blockquote] • • • TAGGED! Fall <3 WORDS! 838 OUTFIT! Flustered Frat Boy! LYRICS! All I Have - - - The Veronicas NOTES! <3

Fallon grinned; feeling like the smile wasn’t going to disappear anytime soon. “I’d say we’re entitled to a reprieve after all that we just went through,” she said, pulling away the tiniest bit after that sweet, breathtaking kiss to look into his eyes. She really meant what she said. After all they went through; they were allowed some time to be in this blissful oblivion. “If it’ll get me bonus points, I’ll cook dinner for a week. He’s sick of your cooking. It’s all he gets, he told me so,” she said, wondering if it was true. “Besides, he’d have to pick a winner or I’ll sit on him!” she exclaimed the empty threat. She was all of a hundred pounds soaking wet. Her sitting on the muscular Myles meant only that she’d probably get manhandled and possibly tossed on the touch like a stuffed teddy. Myles usually worked all sorts of crazy hours being a CSI. At least, that’s what it looked like to Fallon most of the time, though she was sure he had a proper shift. She’d been to the crime lab a few times with Gabe dropping things off that Myles had texted, seeming to be in need of. She didn’t know how he did it. He went out on the streets; saw things she only ever wanted to see on TV, he took pictures of it all, collected samples and went back to the lab to solve a puzzle with a team. As much as Fallon said Gabe could read her as easily as a book, she could do the same. They’d spent too much time together not to be able to. It was a little weird to know that all this time, they’d felt the same way and she had never seen it. She’d never thought herself so blind before. She couldn’t help but laugh. Her uncle had always said she could try the patients of a saint and any man she fell for would be falling into trouble with her. She didn’t think so, but she knew she was a lot to handle. “Someone has to,” she said, squeezing him back. "But I love you, too, Gabe."
She didn’t want to have this conversation they were heading towards. But it really did need to be done. And she needed the drive half way across the city to figure out exactly what she wanted to say. She was never a fan of incoherent ramblings. She would much rather an articulate talk. Of course, that could be the Hollywood in her. On sets, the actors practically over enunciated each word so they would be heard clearly the first time around. That was usually the practice; the test run to see how well the microphone picked up the voices and background noises. After that it was a breeze and it didn’t seem like they were doing anything different then if they were just sitting around a café chattering on. After setting her things down by the door, Fallon followed Gabe to the couch, grabbing the cushion beside his. She sat facing him with her knee touching the back of the couch bent under her and the other up to wrap her arms around it after she’d kicked off her flats. She ran her fingers through her hair, working that out as well. “I wish I knew,” she said shaking her head. She felt like this was going to be far more awkward the second time around than it was when it initially happened! “I guess we should just say what was going on in our heads?” she asked, wishing it would make sense and get easier. “I’ll start,” she offered, looking Gabe in the eye. She couldn’t, wouldn’t look away from him when she said what she had to say. If she couldn’t look him in the eye, they wouldn’t get anywhere at all.
Fallon worried her bottom lip, not wanting Gabe to laugh at her for her reasons behind her stupidity that morning. Frustrated that she couldn't say what she wanted to without it being confusing, she threw her hand in the air, letting them fall back down to her lap again and just going for it. "I was scared of ruining what we had and in trying to work it all out in my head, I ended up doing just that! I was totally and completely freaking out and I got really nervous and self-conscious. Obviously it was a poor move on my part, but at the time, internally freaking out seemed a hell of a lot better than being frazzled and pace-y. You’ve already seen me like that, crying and pacing and biting my lip. I didn't want us to be the reason you saw it again," she said her hand moving between the two of them as memories flooded back to the last time Gabe had ever seen her like that. She'd just found her fiancé with his co-worker. Fallon hadn't thought life could get much worse. And the only person she could run to, who she knew without a doubt would be there for her and let her ramble on and get what she needed to out would be Gabe. She couldn't say everything back then, it had been too embarrassing to be taken for a fool like that, but now it was all behind her. And now, she couldn't see a single minute of time spent with that man where she saw love in his eyes. Oh sure, he'd loved her, but it had never been that all-consuming love, or anything really close to it; more like the affection one had for a dear friend. And who wanted that when they could have the now blatantly obvious fire that was between her and Gabe? "We can thank that waitress for all of this," she said chuckling, drawing a random design on her bare knee. "I got annoyed that she would do that. Just give you her number so obviously and right in front of me! As if I didn't exist and I just kept thinking that she couldn't have you. I know it wasn't my place, but I was jealous," she said at barely a whisper because she didn't want to admit that last part. She'd been jealous of that little tramp. "It took all of the way back to campus and about four mockumentories to realize why I was still hung up about that lunch. Which, was why I hadn't been around all that much. After I realized how much I actually cared, I didn't want to see you happy and excited for the date but it wasn't my place to say anything. And I would rather you were happy, even if it wasn't with me. So I distanced myself, hoping the pain would go away. But it hadn't, hence the two bottles of wine that night. And then you showed up at my door, drunker than me and depressed as hell. I'd already given up on leashing the teeny, tiny filters I do have," she said with a light shrug, finishing with the beginning. "I took a shot." she added, blinking and returning from that painful trip down memory lane. "Your turn."

After the last week of his life, Gabe didn’t want any problems for a long time. His brain couldn’t deal with the emotions, the emotions were too much for him…it was all a little more than the scholar could cope with. “Most definitely.”
He agreed, wholeheartedly, keeping his arms wrapped around the petite blonde, not wanting to let her get away from him right now or ever again. With a chuckle, Gabe shook his head, stepped back just a little and shot her a challenging look. “If you want to cook for Myles then, please, be my guest. And if he is so sick of my food then he’ll come running back, knowing what a good thing is, after he’s spied those blackened remains of your pancakes.” He teased, raising her eyebrows. She was right, he wasn’t about to let that go for a long time, especially since she seemed so irritated at herself for being able to burnt hem in the first place! Gabe didn’t mind cooking up an extra plate for his roommate, especially if he knew he was working later than normal. Myles may have been a bit of a play boy outside of the lab, but his took his job seriously enough to stay late and help out whenever he could. The partying side was probably just his own therapeutic way of stopping it from changing who he was after all, what he saw, some of it couldn’t be forgettable. Gabe wondered just how many people in the world had needed to have this conversation. It wasn’t exactly something you read about in a work of fiction, whether it be a book, play or movie. He supposed no one wanted their escape after a long day to be one of awkwardness and embarrassing confessions of feelings. It seemed to be the one thing in the world that never changed; the avoidance of feelings and dealing with them. Gabe had been raised with his heart on his sleeve, but this was hard and had nothing to do with how openly he could wear his emotions. This was about the morning when he had felt so low he believed the best thing to do was to go running home; something Gabe had never done before. There was no manual, no poetic rambling he could go on to make it easier to talk about…it would just be as messy as his thoughts and feelings were that morning. He tucked his leg under him, his foot dangling off the edge of the couch as he shuffled in the seat to face Fallon a little better. He was nervous, unsure about what she was going to say about the events of that morning and it worried him in case she confirmed anything he had been thinking about it, since none of it was good. Still, he listened, hoping to let her finish before his own voice sprung in to interrupt, but he knew that the chances of him remaining silent were slim. It made sense, sort of, in the same way his own actions had made sense. Reaching out, he took her hand reassuringly, remembering the night she had shown up at the Pi Kappa Phi house in the worst state Gabe had ever seen her in emotionally. If she had been like that a week ago too, Gabe’s heart probably would’ve shattered, knowing that he had caused all of that with her. “What did we have to ruin? Let’s both be honest, Fall, we’ve subconsciously let these feelings define us for seven years, even in the smallest of choices. He said softly. He didn’t want to lose her as a friend, but the more he thought about it, the more he realised that he had always, in some way, seen her as more than that. He rolled his eyes at the mention of Kelli. She had never been a good choice of his. Still, hearing what Fallon had to say about it tipped him over the edge and the chuckles escaped from his lips as a smile grew. He wasn’t so much laughing at her, but at the idea that she could be jealous of someone like Kelli when she was so incredibly amazing to begin with. Plus, it was a nice ego boost for the regularly wounded scholar. “Believe me, you had nothing to be jealous about. I’d have rather been on this couch, just hanging with you than on that date.” He confessed, leaning forward to wrap his arms around her in a loving hug, his lips ghosting over her jaw tenderly. He wished it would be so simple to kiss away all of this, but that could come afterwards, once they had both confessed to what they had been denying. He smiled at her, squeezing her hand again when her words came to an end. “I wouldn’t say I was happy. I was more shocked that a girl would just approach me like that. I’m not the guy who usually gets the second glance. Fallon, I’ve always been happiest around you and Myles and that is something that will never change, even with what I have to say about that morning.” He took a deep breath, running his fingers through his hair, leaving it however it then decided to fall. Gabe didn’t want to word this wrong or hurt Fallon, but the truth was all he could tell her and it might sting a little. “I…I was hurt that morning. Like I, sort of, screamed in the lecture hall, I thought you had just decided to do what those other girls had done before; which was stupid, because you’re nothing like them! Part of me kept telling myself that we had both been drunk and in pretty low places and that all it was supposed to be was a night of comfort, but I wanted more than that and you were pulling off nonchalant so well, that it all just became too much.” He started to explain, pausing for a moment to re-gather his train of thought for the next part. “You know now that I have loved you for seven years and you are the only girl I have ever loved, so all of that was just too hard to deal with, especially since all my feelings for you had hit me all over again. The day you introduced me to Brad, way back when, was the day I was going to ask you out. Since then, I had tried to hide those feelings by just being your best friend, but apparently I did a pretty rubbish job at that, according to the brothers.” He recalled his conversation with Myles and shook his head again, chuckling lightly, thinking for a second about how much ridicule and torment he would be in for once this headline broke. “I ran back to Nebraska to try and put some distance between us and to get my feelings back in check. I thought that if you wanted to be friends then I could do that again after a few days away from it all, but I couldn’t get you out of my head and I grew so frustrated with you being there that I gatecrashed your class.” He concluded, grimacing at just how terrible his actions today had been, even if it had brought them together. All he could think now was of a million better ways in which he could’ve confronted her. [/blockquote][/blockquote] • • • TAGGED! Fall <3 WORDS! 1,287 OUTFIT! Flustered Frat Boy! How she was so lucky to have such an incredible guy love her, she didn’t know. But she was thankful all the same and how they got there meant nothing now. Fallon couldn’t help but groan. “I’ll never live that down, will I?” she asked, shaking her head. She could see it now, being ninety, sitting around a table somewhere, being reminded of the time she burnt food. It didn’t matter that she’d only done it once; it was there now, in the back of their minds, and going to haunt Fallon more than the memories of Spring Break or her senior year of College. “He’s picky anyways, you can keep him,” she said, sighing. It had been a little weird seeing Myles at work. She was way too used to seeing him flirt with all the girls; spend money like it was nothing on drinks. To see him actually being mature and serious, it was a bit of a shock to say the least. Still, seeing that didn’t stop her from teasing him relentlessly about his off the clock life. But at least she understood it a little better after that.
“I see that now,” she said with a half-smile. It was like her heart always knew what it wanted but it took all that time to get her head on the same page. And when she finally got there, it had seemed like it was too late. She should have known that she could tell him but when she’d thought about just blurting it all out. Her head went down what-if street. Not a good place. What if he just chuckled and let her down? What if he shook his head and said she was only like a sister or something. That would be more painful than death. That would have broken her forever. And she hadn’t wanted to hear that. So, she’d kept her mouth shut until she could figure out a way to say it without him really needing to respond. And then he showed up in her class, causing a scene. She had had a choice in waiting until the entire room was empty and they were alone, but his words hit her harder than she wanted to admit. So it was tell him with a room full of witnesses or choke at the chance when they were alone. “Don’t laugh I never thought I could have you and there she was,” she whispered before she’d heard his words. After she heard them, she couldn’t help but giggle. “We got there eventually… sort of,” she said, nibbling at her bottom lip again. Keep this up and she was going to chew right through her lip.
When she was finished saying all she had to about that morning, and the days leading up to it, she braced herself for what he had to say. She told herself she wouldn’t be hurt by his words, that he was just going to do exactly what she did, tell the truth. He wasn’t trying to wound her. Fallon cringed, worrying her lip again and unshed tears started to mist her eyes listening to him. She was such a fool. She hadn’t known! Wait, did he mean? Her eyesight cleared quickly at that remark. “Wait! All of Pi Kappa Phi saw it and no one said a damn word?!” she asked incredulous. How could a group of grown men see it and not make fun of them for it?! Heat rose to her cheeks at the thought of them being able to see something she couldn’t. How did everyone else see it and not inform the two people stuck in the middle of the blindness? When she got the chance she was going to be having a long talk with Trevor and Devon. She shut her mouth though, realizing Gabe wasn’t quite finished. When Fallon was certain he was finished, she crawled onto his lap, pressing a kiss to his cheek. “You never left my mind either. I thought if I could just get over this hiccup, everything would be okay again. But you never left and I’m pretty sure you never will,” she said with a smirk. “Besides, I think hearing about their professor’s love life was more exciting and interesting than the spiel I was running on about Charlie Chaplin,” she said laughing, dropping her head to his shoulder.

Gabe couldn’t keep the smile off of his face. He finally had the girl he loved in his arms and she loved him back; something he was starting to believe he would never experience with his abysmal track record of dating. None of that mattered though and the only girl he wanted to take to dinner or to a movie was Fallon, now. “Never. It’ll be told down the generations like some great legend. I’ll be the hero, running in with his shirt unfastened, and luxurious hair blowing in the spring breeze to save the day – or at least save breakfast.”
He joked, feeling too giddy for anything other than silly words right now. It was one of those tales now that would get brought up on the Friday nights at the bar or the next time everyone was together from UCLA, which would probably be sooner rather than later once his brothers caught wind of this little drama. “Everyone says that. It’s a good job I’m willing to keep him.” Myles was like his bad knee; a necessary thing in his life, but still a total pain from time to time. “Better late than never, I guess.” Gabe teased with a playful roll of his eyes. He was unbelievably happy right now, even if this conversation was probably going to rank number one as the most awkward conversation of his life, even beating the “son, you’re almost a man now” talk he had received from his father. You would’ve thought that his dad would have been prepared by the time he sat his third son down, but Gabe had been more articulate than his old man during the whole thing, which led to some weird looks being exchanged before Gabe blamed his knowledge on his older brothers, rather than telling him that everyone knew and the talk was entirely unnecessary to pretty much every kid out there. “I just can’t believe that Fallon Flynn could be jealous.” He taunted, his ego still swelling proudly at her little tale. He could tell that she was getting upset by his words. He hadn’t started speaking in the hopes of making her feel bad, but he had needed to be honest with her and tell her what his thoughts had been telling him that morning. Still, before he could comfort her, her demeanour changed and he let out a soft chuckle at her reaction. “Apparently so. They had a betting pool going back at UCLA and I have a sneaky suspicion that Myles may have opened it back up again…if it ever even closed.” He said, shaking his head, knowing that his brothers would get far too much of a kick out of all this to just drop it. Gabe was still unable to wrap his head around all of that, but things did seem to make a bit more sense, though his memories would probably be a whole lot clearer once he chatted with Myles and got all of this out with him. “I went ‘nuclear’, in Myles’ words, once I found out about it all. Myles said that everyone on Greek Row knew, at least.” For a moment he paused, wondering if this gossip had spread back to Brad back then. The two men had never clashed about it, but after Fallon’s drunken admission, they probably never would have done. Still, he was curious now and it became another thing to ask his roommate about. “We were our graduating class’ Greek tragedy, it seems.” He shook his head, but pulled Fallon into his arms, shifting his leg from under him so that it didn’t go dead or make his knee swell. His arms encircled her and he held her close, grinning as the weight of the last week was finally lifted from his shoulders. “At least we’re both idiots, I guess.” He laughed, dropping a kiss to her shoulder as he hugged her. “And if any of your class were struggling, at least we gave them new material to work with.” He paused and then looked at her, faking worry. “I think the guy in the yellow shirt was getting ready to come to your defence at one point, though.” He hadn’t seen a guy or paid attention to the students at all, really, but he was still feeling a little silly. Fallon scoffed, raising a perfectly groomed brow. “Luxurious? Really, you’re going with that line? Ballsy,” she said, making a face. Fallon laughed, thinking one of these days Myles wouldn’t be a worry for her or Gabe. One day there would be a girl he would be willing to throw away the playboy attitude and change his ways; challenge him. “Someone’s got to keep him fed and make sure he’s home after a night out,” she teased, playfully. If anyone would have told her she would be Gabe’s girlfriend in any foreseeable future, she would have laughed at them; and she would owe them an apology. “Absolutely,” she said, grinning. Fallon had never really had one of those awkward conversations before. So this would be her first. Trevor, bless him, had sat her down said, “don’t do anything you aren’t ready for. Boys are stupid, I should know I was one.” And then gave her a book about “becoming a woman”. And even then she didn’t think he would ever tell her anything except that he’d found her running lines with one of the actors on set and he assumed it had all been real. Fallon had always known better than to date an actor. Of course, by the time that “talk” came about, Fallon had already had a more in-depth chat with Julia Roberts on yet another set in her life. But neither of those talks fell into awkward territory, more hilarious for one and amusing for the other; especially watching Trevor get flustered. She didn’t want it to get out that she’d been jealous. Like breakfast, she’d never live it down. “How about we cage the ego, huh?” she asked, raising her brows and smirking. It was fine if it was only Gabe teasing her about it, but if he accidentally told Myles and the blabber mouth told everyone else, she would never hear the end of it.
“I may be small, but he better not underestimate me. None of them,” she warned, already coming up with a little plan. Nothing big, really, just a huge slap, maybe a punch if she felt it needed to be added in the heat of the moment. He was definitely getting sat on now. A hundred pounds of feisty, partially annoyed Fallon was something Myles hadn’t seen in a while and she was thinking it would be time to bring that side of her back for a bit. The colour drained from Fallon’s face; though she didn’t have a reason anymore for that to happen. Still, back then, she had loved Brad, and if he had known, too. It was just another point against him, really. But he should have said something, too! Why did it seem like everyone was against her in college? Trevor always wanted her to make her own mistakes, but she could always run to him. She got why he didn’t say a word. But everyone else, that she couldn’t quite seem to fathom. Clearly she was not meant to know the inner workings of people in general. If the roles were reversed with her and a friend, it would be the first thing she pointed out! She shook her heads, pieces of blonde flying into her face. “No. It doesn’t matter what he heard or saw. He lied to me our entire relationship.” She sighed. “It doesn’t matter because we won,” she said, looking back up at Gabe. What happened in college didn’t matter now because they finally had each other. “It’s not a tragedy anymore,” she said, simply.
“Just idiots in love,” she said, laughing at her rephrasing of one of the songs on her iPods playlists. Fallon could remember every second of those moments like they were burned into her memory forever. She could remember the smell of lemon cleaners, Gabe’s cologne. She could feel the stares and smirks of her students, still. There hadn’t been a student in her class wearing yellow, such a bright colour would have been remembered. Still, Fallon smirked, “Ah, yes, my personal knight in shining armour. Looks like you took his job,” she teased, tracing a line with her manicured fingernail down his arm. “He’ll get over it and with any luck, the results of his pain will bring his grade up,” she said with a shrug.
