Life had been chaotic since high school, and like most young women, Imogen had been making the most of those years. As well as getting caught up with the career and the serious side of adulthood, she had made plenty of memories to keep a smile on her face for the harder times. She just hadn’t expected those harder times to come in the way they had, turning her world upside down and leaving her feeling more alone than ever before. If she hadn’t still been in contact with Fallon, she didn’t know where she might have ended up or who she would have turned to for support. As it was, the film loving blonde was the first and only person who had popped up in Immy’s mind, and she was just thankful that Fallon hadn’t shrugged her off or turned her away. She knew her friend wasn’t like that, but she did have her own life to focus on; her career, relationship with Gabe and life in New York had all existed before Imogen dropped into the Big Apple with her own little surprise. “Sometimes I wish she was on the road. Preferably in the way of an eighteen-wheeler.”
Imogen didn’t really wish such cruelty on the girl, but there were times when dreaming up such scenarios were far too easy. “I’ll settle with being third; y’know, after you’ve told Gabe and then broke the news to Trevor.” Imogen teased playfully. With how much love she saw in Fallon’s eyes whenever she spoke about the scholar, she had no doubt that he’d be the man to bring her friend the happy ending she deserved. Imogen wished she had it herself, but she had never been the jealous type, so she could just shake it off with a teasing comment. Still, she couldn’t deny that it would be nice to have someone holding her hand through all of this. She was strong though; she could put on a brave face and push through until things really were okay. Grinning, Imogen nodded her head and then glanced nervously across at her fellow blonde. “I’ll remind you of that when I’m the size the house and screaming for pain relief.” Imogen was terrified about this whole pregnancy and motherhood, but she’d face it as best as she could. She had already made the decision to shy away from internet forums and documentaries that would only magnify her worries and fears with personal stories and exaggerated experiences. As if there wasn’t enough to wrap her head around as it was without having to give her the horrors! Pushing her long locks of blonde hair back from her face, Imogen let out a long sigh and thought about the list of things she needed to start buying. It was definitely a long one, since she had an entirely nursery to kit out along with what seemed like a million other bits to buy. “I’m pretty certain I only have a few weeks at most left in these jeans.” She mused out loud, almost dreading the thought of trying to figure out half of the things she needed. “And there’re some books I’ve been meaning to pick up, and I probably need to get up a ladder to decorate before I have to contend with a belly, and I need new candles because lavender now makes me sick…” She was rambling. Imogen had only thought all of this through before now, but the second she started talking about it, it just seemed impossible to stop everything pouring out! After a moment, she bit her lip, pulled herself together and took a deep breath. “I’m freaking out and I don’t even have the baby yet.” She laughed, shaking her head at the ridiculousness of it all. “Sorry, let’s go with whatever is closest.” She decided, forcing herself to relax before her head exploded or something equally as crazy happened. Fallon hadn’t gone so far as to let go during her years after high school, but she did make sure she had a good time. There were no security guards, body guards or anyone else watching her every move so she didn’t bring in the paparazzi; that was what the actors were around for. And for the most part, she’d managed to keep herself in check all the way up to her senior year of high school. Those years gave her at least one thing though; she had the experiences to figure life out. By the time she made her way across the country for that fresh start everyone was always going on about, she thought she knew everything she wanted. When she first moved, she hadn’t planned to have her life turn upside down like it had in the last few months but for the last seven years Gabe was always there. And as much as she loved having Gabe in her life in a new light; she was never going to forget her friends or her past. He knew what she was like; if it were possible for her, she would drop everything to help her friends out. It was as easy as that for her; in New York, where the only family she had were her friends, they were everything to her. “Truer words have not been spoken,” Fallon said laughing because there had been quite a few times that year she had wished the same thing. After graduation though, she was almost never thought of again unless her name popped up on a casting list.
“Deal,” Fallon said laughing. She didn’t think children were in her near future but she wasn’t about to continue trying to get Imogen to see that. As happy as Fallon was that things were starting to look up for her in the romance department, she wasn’t about to flaunt it around like it was somehow more important than anything else. Gabe had always been there, now he was just there differently. And since it seemed her oldest and closest friend was having some troubles in that department, Fallon hadn’t planned on bringing up her boyfriend at all. This meet up, for Fallon, was all about Imogen. “I can’t help with pain relief, I’m not a doctor but I can be there with chunky monkey, dill pickles and a snarky quip if you need it,” she said, grinning. “And I’ll be there holding your hand if you want me to. With a shot of tequila waiting,” she added, teasing.
Fallon’s eyes widened a small bit at the sigh. That was not the sigh of a small list but Fallon was not intimidated by it. She was excited for Imogen even if it was an overwhelming time. She listened to the list Immy was giving her, mentally trying to figure out what was closest to them right then to start there. Laughing, Fallon gave her friend a quick hug and said, “Breathe!” Everything on the list was easy to do with a little breathing and some determination. Fallon had nothing planned for the rest of the day and if she did, she could push it for another day. “Alright, so, there’s a cute little home store about two blocks from here, I think,” Fallon said, laughing. “We could start there, find the bookstore and finish it all off with a little retail therapy and overpriced soothing tea. Sound good to you?” she asked, brushing the hair from her eyes. Checking the traffic and the lights, Fallon hustled across the street with Imogen before it changed. She kept up a light easy banter to get her friend’s mind off the lists of things she needed to do before the baby arrived as they walked down the busy city streets to the little boutique Fallon had been talking about. “Here we are,” she said, holding the door open and following Imogen inside to the wafting smell of too many candles.

Imogen had been lucky enough that she didn’t need to be watched whenever she went anywhere. Her family was wealthy and the hotel chain they owned did cater to the rich and famous on a regular basis, but she was more likely to be a face in the background of a photo rather than someone the paparazzi followed for their next gossip headline. She didn’t have to worry about getting too drunk and a photo of her falling out of a car winding up on some cheap website somewhere. The only people she had to hide her ‘wild’ lifestyle from were her parents, and that was only to spare herself the lectures that she could probably recite along as they gave them to her. Hearing it the first few times she had been caught nursing one hell of a hangover had been enough to see her through to the end of days and Jack had always covered for her, until it was something he couldn’t cover up. “I do have my moments of sage wisdom.”
Imogen chuckled, leaning back to enjoy the rays of the summer sun. New York wasn’t quite like hitting an LA beach, but Imogen still adored the summer months and planned to make the most of them here, even if she wasn’t in a position to go out partying until the sun came up right now. There had never been a possibility of Imogen living happily ever after with the father of her unborn child. As far as she was concerned, she never wanted to see him again and he was going to have nothing to do with the life of her son or daughter. She had barely spared him any thought since making the move to the city and she wasn’t planning on changing that. Imogen was determined to make it through with just her friends and her own strength. Plenty of other women had done it and she didn’t see why she couldn’t either. “That sounds like a good plan to me.” Imogen nodded her head in appreciation of the idea. She hadn’t yet found herself craving anything out of the ordinary or consuming her own body weight in ice cream. The morning sickness was a daily battle that came at all hours of the day and night, but that was all she had experienced so far. Imogen just hoped that wouldn’t stick around for much longer since she didn’t exactly appreciate feeling sick at every inconvenient moment because of some smell or other uncontrollable thing. “Tequila probably got me into this mess! Make it a glass of Merlot and we’re on.” Balancing all of this first time pregnancy stuff along with wrapping her head around navigating New York was a little trickier than it seemed. She had used her laptop to locate some of the best little stores for the things she had fitted her apartment out with, but it had been a case of finding the stores online, then finding the address and then finding the route from her lovely warehouse-converted apartment to the place in question. It actually took up quite a bit of time and to do that over and over for everything had been a tedious and boring task. “I think they have classes for that, too.” She mumbled, more of a dry joke than a serious suggestion for right now. She was still trying to claw her way through what was necessary for a first-time mother and what was just the fad hype of the season. She didn’t know the difference between half of the appointments and the classes and didn’t exactly want to spend hours wasting her time on unhelpful drivel. “The part about tea definitely sounds good.” Immy said with a small smile as they started to move across the street. She just followed Fallon’s lead since she had no idea where they were heading. Once they reached the boutique though, Imogen stumbled back and blinked from the overwhelming aroma of the store. She actually liked the smell, just hadn’t been expecting it. “Well, at least everything else covers up the lavender.” She joked, picking up an apple scented candle and bringing it to her nose to see how powerful it was. Like Imogen, Fallon hadn’t needed any kind of security or anything when she went out. And the only times she did growing up were when they were overseas and she wanted to explore but Trevor couldn’t take her himself. They were glorified babysitters, really but Fallon wasn’t going to complain, she got to see Paris, Rome and wherever else they were filming. Thankfully, since Trevor was hardly ever home, preferring to work with the crew and everything on set, Fallon had basically lived alone her senior year and didn’t have to hide her party nights or the killer hangovers that taught Fallon who her enemies were. Whiskey and Rye were not her friends while Rum and Tequila were. Not that it mattered since she had a habit of telling Trevor whatever he missed out on. He had been there for the first time Fallon crawled into the hotel room drunk while abroad, and he’d been there to tease and torment the next morning when Fallon crawled out of bed. He had made sure all the curtains and shades were open and he made as much noise as he possibly could. It hadn’t stopped her though, she still went out again. “That you do,” Fallon chuckled. “When is a little bit of that going to rub off on me?”
Fallon hadn’t been around for the few friends who did have small children when they were born. She only had a vague idea of what they went through. So Imogen’s pregnancy was going to be a learning process for them both. “I’ll make a list,” Fall said, laughing. She didn’t have the slightest clue what she was getting herself into offering to help Imogen out, but that was what friends were for. Fallon hoped the far off future where she was having babies; she could rely on her friends to help her out, too. “Tequila will probably be the help behind any future pregnancy, too, so Merlot it is!”
When Fallon had moved to New York, it hadn’t been the first time she’d practically lived in the city. With the second studio in the city, Fallon has spent a couple months each year in New York, so she knew a bit of where to go. Obviously things had changed before she’d chosen to permanently move there, but she could also work out a map quite well and hadn’t had that much trouble getting from point A to point B. So if there was anything at all Fallon could help Imogen with, it was getting her around the city. “I think there are, too but I’m pretty sure, if TV has it right, those don’t come until near the end of the pregnancy,” the blonde professor teased lightly. “As soon as you’ve found what you’re looking for at the home shop, we’ll get tea and shop some more,” Fallon agreed, nodding her head. Fallon looked over at Imogen when they walked into the store, just to see her reaction to the little shop. She should have warned her about the strong aroma of the store but she hadn’t remembered. It was almost like an hour after leaving, the smell was forgotten until the next time the door was opened. “Stay away from the floral section over along the way,” Fallon warned, waving her hand towards the far wall. She usually avoided that area simply because she wasn’t overly fond of the flowery fragrances and could only handle a couple of them in her own home.

Imogen didn’t know why she felt the need to sneak off for her weekends of partying, but then again, she didn’t think she needed an excuse. She was a fully grown woman who was plenty capable of making her own choices. She just knew that her parents would be a nightmare if they thought she was ignoring her responsibilities. It wasn’t the case, at all, but Imogen had seen and heard enough to know that trying to explain it to them would be futile. Jack obviously had his own fun and got into trouble on his own, but he had pushed most of it out of his system during college, whereas Immy had been essentially guarded by Jack since high school. Most of the chances she had at fun were cut short by him coming by and threatening some ‘boyfriend’ or dragging Imogen away before she could get herself involved in something she didn’t want to be. Once he left for Harvard, she had been able to run free for her senior year, but soon enough the big brother was out being overprotective again at university when Imogen joined him there. It might not make sense to a lot of people, which was why Immy never tried to explain it, but it was her logic. “It never will. I only have enough to just about cover myself!”
She laughed, shaking her head and remembering those crazy memories again. There was still a lot to sort out and get her head around, Imogen knew that. She would make it through though, but she couldn’t promise to make it through unscathed. Pregnancy was a terrifying thing as much as it was a wonderful adventure and the LA blonde was still letting it all sink in. “I think there will be plenty of lists.” She mumbled, knowing that there would be an abundance of phone calls and conversations over the next several months that would drive everyone crazy to listen in on. When things felt a little overwhelming, Imogen looked at furnishings for the nursery and just focused on the creative bits that she could enjoy. “Tequila has probably more children that he cares to admit. Jose is a terrible man with very few morals.” Imogen joked, shaking her head as though they really had a legitimate reason to be disappointed in the bottle. The last time Imogen had been to New York, she had been seventeen and Christmas shopping with her mom. It was very much just about the clothes and the gifts and fitting in a show before catching a flight back to LA the following day. While the young blonde would need to go clothes shopping soon enough, she didn’t think that single trip prepared her for a life in the city. Finding her feet would come with time, but by the time she knew the streets well enough she doubted she’d be able to see her feet! “I have no idea anymore. There is far too much to wrap my head around. I sit down to attempt it and then five minutes later I feel like a nap would be a much better idea.” Immy had been zapped of energy lately for several obvious reasons, but it still annoyed her that she just wanted to sleep so much when her mind wanted to power on through everything. Glancing at the far wall as Fallon waved at it, Imogen crinkled her nose and pulled a face, keeping her fingers wrapped around the apple candle. “If we go over there they’ll be asking us to leave.” She promised, not even wanting to risk it. She had used lavender candles to relax and then, suddenly one night, it was the worse trigger she had and every window of her apartment had to be flung open to get rid of the smell before her stomach betrayed her again. She didn’t need to spend too long in the shop, just grabbing a few more safe candles and a pretty new holder before making her way to the register to pay for them. Imogen would probably return to this place once her morning sickness had faded and she felt brave enough to risk staying there for longer. “So, I heard someone mention tea.” She grinned, linking her arm through Fallon’s as they stepped back out onto the sidewalk moments later. Fallon liked to think she was a pretty intelligent person. But intelligence and wisdom were two very different things. She was smart, but she was hardly wise beyond her years. She may have had her rose coloured glasses taken from her a little sooner than she would have preferred but lesson learned. “I wouldn’t know what to do with it anyway,” She teased, rolling her eyes. Fallon wanted to help Imogen. She was as close as a sister and family helped each other out. Plus, she was great with lists and organising. Aside from her office which she preferred to call organised chaos, everything was in its’ place. “I am so great with lists,” Fallon said, trying to lighten the mood a little bit. She understood that this was probably daunting. “We’ll get through them one thing at a time,” Fallon offered with an easy smile. “The less the morals, the better the adventure,” Fallon said with a wink. Her man Jose was a beast of a thing but she just adored him and his very wicked ways.
Fallon loved New York. The city always had a spot in the petite blonde’s heart. It was so opposite Los Angeles and yet similar in so many ways. She had never felt like the city was daunting or overwhelming, it was just New York, a place with great flagship stores and the best pizza she’d ever had. The only thing she missed about LA was Trevor and surfing as the sun rose and set. Whenever they were home and neither of them hung-over, both Trevor and Fallon, and whoever happened to be at the house, was on the beach and in the waves at the crack of dawn, surfing in with the sun. The guys had gotten the routine a couple times after having just passed out dropping her off at home. Six am came early when they had only gone to bed two hours before hand. But by the time they were out of the water, they were all wide awake and searching for food and coffee. She couldn’t surf in New York, and Trevor barely spent any time in the city now that his girl was there full time but occasionally, he would visit. But she did have the guys to cheer her up when she was feeling a little homesick and that would have to be good enough.
“Things will calm down,” Fallon said, hoping she was right. Get a few deep breaths in and things usually fell into place; at least, they did for her, she couldn’t really say the same for Imogen. Fall wrinkled her nose at the idea of going anywhere near the floral section of the little shop. She’d made the mistake once and nearly choked gagging as she stumbled back out. But soon enough, she was well known in the little shop that if she was feeling like a sweet flower scent, one of the girls running the shop usually just went to fetch one for her. Fallon needed to collect a few things as well and went to work picking out the scents she preferred during a soothing bath and quickly went to the register with her purchase. She spoke with the young girl behind the cash, asking about her life outside the smelly shop and continued as she waited for Imogen to go through the same process. Fallon grinned, rolling her eyes. “I did say tea, let’s go,” she said, laughing as she held the door open to the little shop and said goodbye to the young girl behind the counter. She continued down the street with Imogen in the direction they had been going, searching out the little café Fallon adored. Shortly, Fallon opened the door to another little place that looked more than a hole in the wall than a café from the front. But the street wasn’t wide enough for even a couple bistro tables so the large windows would have to make do. “Surprisingly, there isn’t a single Starbucks on this entire block. Lucky for us,” she joked, heading straight to the counter and ordering a chai tea with a little milk.

Imogen was young and she was still finding her feet in the world. She made mistakes sure enough, but she was accepting of them, even when she really didn’t want to be. The latest changes in her life told her that much and she was pretty certain that she hadn’t seen the last of her list of mistakes and doubts. All that was happening now was that she was opening a door to a whole new hoard of errors and blunders that she hadn’t even considered up until a few months ago. “I find it comes in useful for making it sound like you know what you’re talking about, but not much else.”
She grinned, shrugging lightly and fiddling with the necklace around her neck. Letting out a small laugh, Immy shook her head. “I can’t help but feel like it’s going to be a never ending list.” She was feeling a little calmer for now. The moments of panic came and went, as she expected them to right now. It would just be a little longer before she felt the surrealism of her situation pass. Shooting Fallon a bland look, Imogen blinked twice and then arched her eyebrow. “And I will remind you that you said that when; a, you’re babysitting and b, when you’re pregnant.” It was definitely going to be an adventure; that much was certainly true. She had every intention of making New York the new home for her and her child. Things might change, but right now Imogen had no intention of returning to LA, even when the little voice popped into her head to remind her of how worried Jack and her parents would probably be. Her fingers had itched over the phone once or twice already, but she just couldn’t bring herself to pick up the phone and dial the number she knew off by heart. For now there was no time and no point in worrying about that, since she had plenty of other things to keep her mind active and busy in the city that never sleeps. Imogen knew that Fallon was right. She was just a little caught up with everything right now and actually saying it out loud had just made it more difficult to forget about, even for just a few short moments. She was already feeling a lot better to how she had been a few weeks ago, but Imogen refused to believe that any first time mother sat back and relaxed during their pregnancy when there were so many questions to find answers to and things to organise before midnight feeds and sleepless nights became a part of the routine. Following her friend to the little café, Imogen just kept trying to make mental notes of the places they were passing and the street they walked down. It would make it easier to remember if she came out this way again anytime soon. “I don’t think I could cope with wannabe writers and faux philosophical kids right now.” She joked, relieved that this place was quieter than any Starbucks they could have stumbled into. The place was good for grabbing a cup on the go, but Imogen would prefer to sit down, chat and enjoy the green tea with lemon that she ordered. Just five minutes to relax with her friend would be nice right about now. He thoughts were so often running away from her that she could do with the brief break. It was rare if a day went by without the pretty blonde professor making a mistake of some sort. Usually it was because she was thinking about so much that she messed up her words, said the wrong thing or something like that. Occasionally it was with class but it was rare since she took her teaching career seriously. Even rarer was a mistake with the studio. She grew up around the studio, there wasn’t a thing she didn’t know there and what she didn’t know because it was new she had someone show her what to do so she wouldn’t be clueless about it. She didn’t have to put in so much work with the studio but it was her life and she enjoyed spending time there; it wasn’t work, it was home. Fallon rolled her eyes but shrugged her shoulder in agreement. “The list will get shorter the more we get done,” Fallon promised, lightly bumping her shoulder into Imogen’s.
Fallon gave back the bland look Imogen sent her. “I think your baby will love the studio!” She exclaimed, completely ignoring the whole bit about children of her own. She and Gabe hadn’t talked about that and she had some reservations about it anyway. As much as she loved Gabe, she was too afraid those runaway genes were hereditary. It was silly, she knew that. She was so afraid of becoming the woman who gave her up that she would do anything for her own children. There was a time when children weren’t even a topic of conversation for Fallon at all. She was working too hard at the studio and then at the university. And now kids were a possibility; a scary possibility.
But Fall wasn’t going to think about that. She was going to put her own issues aside and remind herself she was there to help Imogen. If she had to keep reminding herself that, she would for as long as she needed to. It helped that they were in one of the busiest cities in the world and there was always something to steal the attention. Immy had a long list of things that needed to get done before the baby arrived and Fallon wanted to help as much as she could. Since she’d been in the city a lot longer than her oldest friend, she knew more places to cross things from the list. Fallon to let Imogen in on the little shops and places she knew of. “Yeah, I sit in there sometimes and just make fun of them. I worked there for how long and I hate the place,” Fallon admitted, laughing. It wasn’t a secret that she’d earned a pay from the franchise for a couple of years at least but that didn’t stop her from hating it. That was a big part of the reason she’d left and took on more hours at the studio. “Go grab us a table, I’ll get this,” Fallon said, shooing Imogen off and turning back to ask for a couple pieces of biscotti to go with their teas. She handed over a couple notes, adding in a good tip for the woman behind the counter before taking their order back to the table.

Most of the mistakes Imogen had made in her life had been the kind she could talk her way out of. This was the first time when her words wouldn’t be enough and it had really shaken her up to realise that. Coming to terms with her new reality was a slow process, but she was getting there bit by bit. More people came to New York for a fresh start than most people realised; Imogen was just another of those numbers. “I just wish I could click my fingers and it would be done.”
She said on a sigh, smiling wistfully. Life in general would be so much easier if that was the case, but alas, it was not. She’d have to slog her way through it just like everyone else and for the next couple of months hope that no other surprises turned up. Rolling her eyes, Immy only shook her head. “I am not having you run amok in the studio with my kid.” She stated, acting almost as though the baby was here and causing trouble already. With the kind of friend Fallon was, she should probably prepare for all kinds of mischief and “innocent” trouble. Immy just hoped that there would be at least some semblance of a calming influence in her child’s life, but she had no idea if it would come from her. Despite everything that was going on currently in her chaotic life, Imogen would always have time for the people she cared about. She disliked it greatly when people instantly assumed that if someone was talking about their problems that they were completely self-centred. She had lost her cool a number of times in her life about situations like that, but she knew this wasn’t one of them. Immy also knew that Fallon wasn’t like that. Chuckling, Imogen shook her head and pushed the blonde hair back from her face again. “They get worse every year and it’s not just because we’re older now. They really do keep getting worse.” Finding a small table just out of the way of people squeezing by with their own snacks and beverages, Imogen carefully placed her bag by her feet and ran her fingers through her hair. She already felt exhausted and this stop for tea was definitely needed! “I need this.” She commented with a slight grin as Fallon brought the drinks over. Imogen wasted no time in sipping at her tea, sighing contently. With so much happening she sometimes forgot that she needed to sit back, relax and take a bit of time to herself. She liked to keep busy and lead an active life, but there was no good to come out of overdoing it or pushing herself too much. [/blockquote][/blockquote] • • • TAGGED! “Ah but this is not Wonderland, Alice. It can’t be done but that’s why you have me! You’re Cheshire Cat!” Fallon said grinning. And instantly she wanted to stop by the studio quickly and pick up a pair of purple cat ears and maybe even a tail from the wardrobe department just for the comedy factor because she was sure to get looks and laughs. It may have been New York and the weird was fairly norm but it was still first and foremost a business city; which meant serious people in thousand dollar suits with shoes and briefcases that cost just as much. Fallon had no clue what she would do in Imogen’s place but she hoped her friend would help her out. Fallon already knew if she were to eventually be in Imogen’s shoes, she would absolutely need her friends around her. She would need someone around to keep her calm when reality sunk in.
Grinning Fallon, shook her head. “What happens during Auntie Fallon time stays there. No need to give mommy a heart attack.” Fallon said in that horrible sing song tone only ever meant to annoy. Babysitting for Imogen wouldn’t be a bad thing or even regrettably denied. Imogen was all alone in the city and Fallon wanted to help. If that meant taking her baby for a night, she would do that happily and give the new mom a break. And once the baby got older, Fallon would be more than willing to take them along to shoots and around the studio to play with the props and in the wardrobe department just as she had done growing up. It was what she would want to do with her own kids, if she ever found herself with one or two. But then, she’d never thought far enough ahead for children. Honestly, she had just thought she would be “Auntie Fallon” to all her friend’s kids.
Fallon had missed talking to Imogen as much as they had in her senior year. When college life took over, it was so difficult to get time away from everything to sit down for a five minute phone call, never mind an actual coffee! Still Fallon had sent Imogen Christmas and birthday gifts because they were that close, even being so far apart and unable to see each other often. Fall had always considered Imogen her sister and she didn’t want to lose that. “Oh, I know! Sometimes I just want to yell at them all!” Fallon sighed disappointed in them all. As if yelling at the hipster crowd that took over the franchise would actually work. She’d quit before she could find out. Fallon set their drinks down before making herself comfortable in her chair. Sometimes a tea break was just needed. “I don’t know if your stomach is going to behave for you but I grabbed a couple pieces of chocolate almond biscotti. It’s amazing here.” Fallon said, pushing the white paper pastry bag across the small table.

Furrowing her eyebrows, Imogen took a second and then looked at Fallon with a questioning expression. “Did people click their fingers in Wonderland?”
She asked, trying her best to remember the story she had heard countless times during her childhood. “The Cheshire Cat was always more cryptic than helpful.” She added, as though it was a valid point to be making right now. Her life had been tipped upside down much like Alice’s when she found herself falling down that rabbit hole, but Imogen didn’t think she’d meet a delightfully crazy Mad Hatter in New York who wouldn’t try to mug her or drug her first. Nope, her Wonderland seem to come in shades of grey with walls of concrete and people in matching suits who needed to check stock prices before they thought about painting roses red. “I don’t even remember kids and secrets being a successful combination.” Immy joked, remembering countless situations that had arisen from the mouths of babes and their innocent comments about what their wide eyes had seen or naïve ears had heard. Hotels were littered with secrets and Imogen knew more than she probably ought to from her time working in them. They were usually the kind that came out with a messy explosion and cataclysmic aftermath, rather than the quiet, private kind that might take place in quaint houses. “Although I do appreciate you sparing me a heart attack.” She said with a roll of her eyes. Having a baby would probably come with plenty of those moments in the first place and Imogen was already dreading any mistakes she might make. While children might have been a distant idea for the future, Imogen had never really been one of those maternal girls who dreamt about having a big family or longing for the day she got to buy those adorable little baby shoes. Although, she had to admit, she was starting to get a little carried away with those, but they were just so darn cute! It was good to be back in Fallon’s company again. The short time they had been able to spend together during the hectic college years had been nothing compared to the times in high school. Growing up had put distance between them and Imogen had missed her friend more than she had realised. Now that she was in New York she realised that more than ever and it wasn’t just the situation that did that either. “Sometimes I actually do.” She admitted with a smirk. It was only ever if she was in a rush or they were seriously getting on the last of her nerves, but Immy had lost her cool a couple of times in those shops and she had left them silent by the time she grabbed her order and left the place. Checking her phone out of habit more than anything else, Imogen leaned back in the chair and let out a long sigh. She already felt like a weight had been lifted and there was still so much to do. “Oh, I hope so. It’s been turning against everything lately and I’m a hungry girl!” Tentatively she tried a bite of the biscotti she pulled from the bag, her fingers crossed that she would keep it down. The sickness had only just started to hit these last couple of days, but it had gradually gotten worse. “This is delicious! It’s even better than that little place that used to be down by the bowling alley back home, remember it?” [/blockquote][/blockquote] • • • TAGGED! Fallon <3 WORDS! 631! Fallon shrugged, looking over at her friend. “No, but I’ve been on an Alice in Wonderland kick lately so I’m rolling with it.” She said, grinning mischievously. It was hardly a good thing for the people around her when she got on one of her kicks. Everything around her was flipped upside down until she was through with whatever plans she’d thought up and things went back to normal again. She had been that way since she was child. She was always integrating phrases, slang, pieces of clothing into her daily life until her affection of whatever it was faded. “If you’d prefer, I can be more cryptic but personally I like being blunt and helpful. It brings surprises through the day.” Fallon said with a soft laugh. She was hardly the subtle type, everyone who knew her knew that much about her. But of course, there was plenty to be said about the subtlety of being cryptic. For her it was a tool and not a way of life.
“It’s not. But by the time you find out, it’ll be too late anyway so what does it matter?” Fallon asked, grinning widely. She didn’t have children around her to spoil often and when she did, they were usually child stars who were already so used to getting attention that Fallon really didn’t want to give them any more. It was a horrible truth but the only kids on set that got any special attention were the ones who hadn’t already let fame get to their heads and the kids of the crew when they didn’t have school that day. “I’ll only allow the heart attack if I have to get the paramedics involved!” Fallon teased. “Besides, the chances of needing the paramedics for Gabe is higher than needing them for your baby.” And she knew she was right. Children would trip and fall, get a little scratched up but keep going with a couple tears. Gabe couldn’t walk down the stairs without missing one and sliding the rest of the way down. But she loved him.
Fallon had missed spending time with Imogen and she was so thrilled her friend moved to New York. It wouldn’t be like old times, there was work now and babies and boyfriends but Fallon would try and make it as close to the old times as she could get. “I’m jealous!” Fallon said with a laugh and a shake of her head. She would happily admit to giving a lecture at the beginning of each term, especially for her new students that gave her opinion on the people who sit around the franchised coffee shop. Those kids really drove her crazy and would probably send her to drink if it weren’t already one of her favourite weekend pastimes. Fallon hated going there anymore and would rather grab her coffee from a little mom and pop café than the franchise. “Fingers crossed.” She said, physically crossing the fingers of her left hand while her right lifted the other piece of biscotti from the bag and took a bite. There were a few places around the city that Fallon knew sold some of the best biscotti. But this place was her absolute favourite and had a few times went out of her way to pick up some pieces for her office. “Remember it? I dream about that place! I have to go whenever I'm back home." Fallon admitted with a laugh. Whenever she went back to California, she always took time out of her trip to visit those old places and indulge in memories and the treats.
