MY EYELIDS KEPT WIDE OPEN - - - - - - - - - - so i can see all that you do Every morning was usually the same for him. He got up early, took a run, went home, showered, ate something, and then went to the police station. Sometimes if he was lucky, he'd either have a S.W.A.T. job out in the city or maybe even take a normal police officers job for they were lacking that day. Usually though, Koda did nothing but shoot at the range and study some more about law ad weaponry, as well as tactics. It was incredibly boring when he didn't have to do any work, but that was a S.W.A.T. officer for you. Boring when you’re not called, but when you were, it was an adrenaline; a thirst of excitement. Today was a little different from those other boring days. Koda actually got a call from the station. Putting his stuff away, Koda immediately went to the station, suited up, headed to the van and went to kick ass. There wasn't that much need for S.W.A.T.'s anymore, but when the need arose; Koda was there. Much like now. Though he was at a lower rank, a sergeant, he was still a team player and a valuable rook in the game of chess.
Though sadly... He was a rook that didn't do so well.
In the midst of all the action and apprehending the criminals, Koda was shot. Not once, but three times. He was wearing a vest that day so didn't receive much damage but when he ignored what he was doing and shot the man that shot him, another came with a shotgun and that was the last that Koda saw before his world went black. The man was dragged off by a colleague and soon rushed to the hospital. Koda was in critical condition or well, close enough to it. The few gun shots bruised him up pretty bad and the shotgun... Well, that basically ruined his vest – which wasn't as high-quality as some of the department had, and so, he received about half of that damage. The vests metal dug into his skin and where he wasn't wearing any got ripped and torn, but nothing too horrible there. He was just in critical condition from the metal in his body and all the blood he had lost. But after an hour or so of surgery, Koda was basically stable. He told the nurse to call his girlfriend and his cousin, but only one of them showed. Next day, same deal. Went on for the whole week until next week he was able to be released as long as he didn't do a lot of extra-ciricular activities. Koda was fine now, just... Was off of work until he can function a bit better for patrol, and even more so for the S.W.A.T.'s again.
His girlfriend never came to visit him. Nothing. Koda was both furious and crestfallen about it. What if he died? She wasn't there to see him. So, the man went over to her house which wasn't that far away form his. The meeting... Didn't go so well at all. Koda accused her of not caring – even more so when Vegas was brought up. Bridgette tried to defend herself and say that she didn't like hospitals, that she spent a lot in them while growingup, but the man didn't listen. He raised his voice at her, yelled at her, and just stormed off. Leaving them both hurt. Koda just couldn't understand nor believe it one bit. Couldn't even see him... Pathetic. But then again that was the heat of the moment speaking to him.
It took Koda a few days at home with his dog to really understand what was going through Bridgette's head. Phobia... Trauma... Freight... Some people just weren't that strong. Some were scared of spiders, some scared of heights, some scared of hospitals and seeing the one they loved all bloody and in pain. Maybe... Koda was wrong? Maybe he was in the wrong. He sure felt that way.
With a deep sigh, Koda felt bad... At his behavior and the things that he had said to her. Grabbing his keys, the man headed on out to the store – where he spent some hours at getting supplies. Though he was half-German and loved embracing his culture, he decided not to this time. This wasn't about him, this was about Bridgette. So, he got some ingredients to make her favorite foods. Or well foods that she said she loved and he noticed she ate quite often. She liked chicken nuggets, but that didn't look too appetizing. So, he got some chicken strips and decided to saute them a bit and make them like chicken nuggets without the breading and extra delicious. He also got some salad and the ingredients that went with that as well as some ingredients to make quesadillas (oh yeah, homemade). Yeah, it didn't match up at all, but these were the foods she liked, so Koda was going to make them. Hopefully... She would be home and take his call. Grabbing a carton of cookie-dough ice cream and a bottle of Chardonnay, Koda went to the check out and soon back to his car.
It didn't take him long to arrive home and when he did, he immediately went to work. He brought out all the good silverware and bowls and started cooking. Cutting the chicken, marinating them and seasoned them, cutting the lettuce and iceberg lettuce and making a nice fluffy salad, getting some wine out and setting the table up beautifully, he hoped that she'd take his apology back. Though he was a little mad with her still, Koda... He forgave. She was scared and well, he made it out alive. And that was all that mattered, right? Sighing, Koda called her but she didn't answer, so... The man left a message, “Bridgette? It's Koda. I know we didn't... Exactly leave on a good note and well, I wanted to know if you could come over. Please? It's important. And I want to apologize in person. You have no idea how bad I feel about my behavior. So... If you could come over right now, that would be great.” He said, glancing over at the food – the quesadilla's almost done cooking, “For if it's not within the hour, it'll be a little too late. The door's open so, just walk in if you do come over. I'll be waiting for you. I'm sorry. I love you. Auf Wiedersehen.” With that he hung up, swallowing hard after it. He hated leaving messages... Like any normal human being would. And now... The waiting game.

It had been a good week back home. Bridget spent time catching up with her friends still in Nevada shopping and even spent a couple days with her mom in California at the beach talking about it all and crying most of the trip there and back, keeping the waterfalls for the privacy of their car. Vivie understood that her daughter didn’t like seeing people she cared about in the hospital. She’d spent so much time wandering the halls of Las Vegas General as a kid while she was waiting for her father to finish with a patient. She’d seen far too much pain and suffering to enjoy hospitals in any way. If she could avoid them, she did. So getting a call from a buddy of Koda’s hearing that her boyfriend had been shot, she couldn’t bear to see him in the state she knew he would be in. She’d seen gunshot victims in the emergency room before, it would break her to see someone she loved in that state. It scared her to think her father had to work on those people in Vegas, and one wrong patient could fill the emergency room with guys with guns.
She knew it was the chicken thing to do, not to see him but what else could she do. She got updates from his friend, telling her how he was doing this day and the next, what the doctors were saying. He dumbed it down for her not realizing she grew up with the proper terminology and could understand it better than he could himself. She could hide away in Nevada all summer if she really wanted to, but she wasn’t a chicken. Taylor helped her a lot with texts and calls while she was away. Being a doctor herself, she knew the situation and could understand Bee’s point of view. And it was Taylor’s quick check of his files that had Bee breathing a sigh of relief and deciding maybe it was time to go home. Unfortunately, she wasn’t home more than a couple days when he was knocking on her door yelling at her.
She was unbelievably thankful Dylan wasn’t home because she knew without question he’d be in the hall or bursting through her door demanding answers from the SWAT officer. Bridget held her own in the fight though, explaining herself even though she knew damn well that she didn’t have to. It was difficult to explain her dislike for the sterile buildings. She used to play around, exploring in one all throughout her childhood but that didn’t extend when she grew up. She yelled back, practically pushing him out the door of her apartment, telling him to never come back. She was annoyed and pissed that he would honestly go to her house and yell at her and just act like such a child. All she kept thinking was that she’d come home too soon but she couldn’t expect Taylor and Dylan to take care of Catherine and Heathcliff for the entire summer; it wasn’t fair to them.
She spent the next few days doing things for her. She got a tattoo of a poker chip for her home of Nevada on her left hip, she went through her entire wardrobe and donated half the clothes then went shopping for new things. Being in Vegas reminded her that she wasn’t this sweet girl she pretended to be and she wasn’t sure how she’d become that girl. Yes, she was a sweet woman, she took care of her friends, adored them and was always looking out for them, but she was more than this sweet professor. And she was ready to prove that.
She was out when Koda called, picking up some new things for her apartment. The blonde professor felt it was time to change things up a bit and spent some money on new throw pillows, a new floor lamp and some new books she thought looked interesting. When she did get home and check her messages she rolled her eyes, still annoyed at the man. But she still had the frame of mind for giving people second chances. Her life wasn’t a baseball game; you couldn’t call for a do over or have foul calls or any such thing. You got two chances if you blew them, you were done to her. It had been a few days so maybe he’d calmed down and grew up a bit. Bridget put some things away first before she grabbed her keys and her dogs so she would have an excuse to leave if she wanted and locked the door as she left, tossing those same keys into the purse she hadn’t taken off her shoulder yet.
Two blocks down, Bridget walked into the building, stopping to talk to one of the elderly women who lived with her husband in the building. Bridget smiled, told the woman she’d been visiting family in Nevada and that was why she hadn’t been around in a while, promised to stop by again with more baked goods and continued on her way to Koda’s door, letting herself in. “You called,” she muttered under her breathe knowing he couldn’t hear her as she crouched down to take the leashes off Catherine and Heathcliff so they could go say hello to Nevermore. Folding them up, Bridget walked into the kitchen. “There had better be groveling involved after what you pulled,” she said, crossing her arms and leaning against the wall next to the door in case she wanted to make a quick escape. Her dogs were very well trained and didn’t need leashes, though the law said they had to have them. That meant if she did want to pull a Houdini, she could leash them when she got to the street and maybe a block away.

MY EYELIDS KEPT WIDE OPEN - - - - - - - - - - so i can see all that you do There were to sides to this argument. Both were right and both were yet wrong. Koda just wanted some support. Some care. For his girlfriend to come over and say everything is going to be alright. Even a phone call if she couldn't make it... He'd understand. But he didn't get any of that. Nothing. So of course the man was heartbroken and hurt. He felt betrayed with this. Not even a phone call? Of course the two fought about this. Their first real big fight. He heard what she said but acted as though he didn't care nor understood. But... Given some time to cool off, he understood where she was coming from. She was scared. Much like with him. He wasn't perfect, neither was she. So, Koda decided to make an apologetic dinner for her made out of almost all of her favorite foods. See? Thee guy noticed the small things in life and paid attention here and there. All Koda wanted was for her to understand where he was coming from and that he was sincerely sorry for his behavior. He loved her, she was still his girlfriend, he just wanted to make things right.
So, Koda went out and got all the ingredients for Bridgette. He got some chicken and made his own chicken nuggets for her. He even got some cookie-dough ice cream and ingredient to make quesadillas and salads, he went home and left her a message on her phone – since she wasn't by her phone to answer. Hopefully she'd come over. That was all that he hoped for. Well, that and her forgiveness...
Letting the food stay warmed up, Koda waited for her. When Nevermore barked, Koda stood up from his chair and saw her open the door. When she released her little dogs, Nevermore went right immediately into play mode and started to play with her two dogs. He loved playing, despite the dogs age. Seeing her fold her arms and lean against the wall, Koda sighed and looked a little sad, “Look, Bridgette,” He said walking over to her. He might be stepping boundaries with this but... The man loved her. Placing his hands on her waist, Koda looked up at her and gave her a kiss on the cheek, “I'm really sorry for my behavior. I didn't understand.”
It was the truth, he didn't... Until he took a breather and saw both sides of the story. “I love you Bridgette. I'm sorry... I hope you forgive me.”

Bridget didn’t want to be there. She did not like getting yelled at in any way and retaliated as such. She’d been terrified, and yes okay, she could have called and said something, anything but she hadn’t exactly been in her right state of mind. She didn’t want to forgive him; she hardly ever gave second chances unless she was in her classroom. But she was willing to listen to what Koda had to say. It was that or completely cut him from her life. That would have been heartbreaking in itself, but she would have gotten over that. Catherine and Heathcliff liked Nevermore though and she wouldn’t be able to see them get all mopey because they could have little play dates with the other animal.
Reality was that Bridget needed the time away from New York to see if she worried about him even when he wasn’t a car ride, walk or phone call away. And the truth was, she missed him terribly, worried about him constantly and spent quite a bit of time talking about him and their relationship with her mother. She was always just a little bit closer to her mother than her father. She knew better than to talk about boys with daddy dearest, he asked too many questions, and although that fine and Bee wasn’t uncomfortable with it all, he was and it showed! With Genevieve Bridget could say whatever she wanted and the French woman just laughed it off and gave the advice of a friend and not a mother.
She kept her arms crossed but what she really wanted to do what wrap her arms around his neck and soak his shoulder with her tears. She would have broke if she’d gone to the hospital to see him. Even now when he was well enough to be out of the hospital and on his own and he can see that! “You never will, Koda,” she said on a sigh, closing her eyes and letting her head fall back against the wall. Opening her eyes, she laid her hands on his biceps. It really was as simple as that. He was never going to truly know how she felt about it all. He could guess; try to understand but he would never really know for himself. “I can try,” she said, because that was all she could do. “Is that all you wanted? To apologize?” she asked, looking up at him. She was still annoyed but at least she was willing to hear him out.

MY EYELIDS KEPT WIDE OPEN - - - - - - - - - - so i can see all that you do The way she was looking at him was as if she was 100% right. And to Koda that didn't fly, but he wasn't going to prove his point. She was a fragile woman that didn't tolerate yelling or anything. So getting a second chance or whatever before they broke up for real, was one he'd rather take than risking it all. Sure he was a risky guy, but this was one situation where that persona didn't shine through. He loved her, he really did... Love was fragile and so he was treating this like walking on glass. He didn't want to break the shattered glass. “I will never know, but I can try to understand. And I think I do.” He said in all honesty. Phobia, bad past, scared of... He can understand a little. Plus his outburst was a little uncalled for. But the man was really hurt. She didn't see him or even called. So, Koda was hurt with his heart right there. And that was how he retaliated, somehow.
When he hugged her, she didn't push him away. Neither with the kiss. She didn't push him away. This was good, or she was terrible so mad she didn't know what to do. He hoped it wasn't the latter. “I wanted to apologize in person,” But that wasn't all. Moving his face so it was inches from hers at most, he looked in her eyes, “And let you see how sincere I am.” If Koda didn't love her, he wouldn't be taking some extra precaution. Oh, what love did to a man.
Without a moment's pause, Koda tilted his head slightly and let his lips press at first softly against hers but then he pressed them harder, giving her just a normal kiss, but this one hopefully had more passion, more sincerity in it. Breaking it, Koda glanced up in her eyes, “I love you.” And it was the truth. As to try to lighten up the mood, he continued, “Made your favorite foods. Do you want to eat?” He asked, letting her head to the dining room table if she wanted to. Whine she headed there, he went off to the kitchen, turned off the stove and moved the still fresh and warm food on the table for the two of them.

She shouldn’t be this mad at the whole thing. She knew that, but she also got her mother’s temper and she knew it. They used to joke that she was just like her mother, a fiery French woman. At this point though, she was thinking it was more reality than joke. But since she didn’t want to be wrong, even knowing that she was, she kept her anger on her; wore it like a shield in this moment. She wanted to be mad, and that was the thing of it. She wanted to be, and she could feel herself calming down. But she wasn’t some fragile little doll that was going to break, she knew that, but for whatever reason, knowing that hadn’t mattered. She still got scared when she’d gotten that call; scared enough to run home to her parents. “You could try,” she said, agreeing but unless he spent as much time as she had in a hospital, he wouldn’t. Still, it was something she could let him think.
She didn’t pull away because she didn’t know what to do. She loved him, really, but she was also still hung up on him yelling at her. She didn’t stand for that; it sent her temper flaring and not in a fun way at all. “Well, you’ve done both now,” She said, sounding as if she were ready to leave. If that was all he wanted, that was exactly what she was going to do; put the leashes on collars and finish the walk she’d started with them. She didn’t want to be somewhere she didn’t feel welcome and with everything that had happened, she didn’t want to be yelled at again, because this time, she wouldn’t just yell back. This time she would get in his face, scream right back at him and if she let the red haze completely cloud everything, she knew she would hit him.
Bridget returned the kiss because despite everything, she did love Koda. He drove her completely mad sometimes; almost to the point of tearing out her hair, but she did love him. Her hands ran up his arms, linking behind his neck, before he ended it. She didn’t say it back, but she also didn’t get much of a chance. And even if he had given the opportunity to, she wasn’t sure she would. She loved him, she did, but the yelling at her and what he said was still there, stuck in the back of her mind. “If you went through all that trouble,” she said, slipping away to take a seat at the table. When he brought all the food to the table, Bridget just looked at it all. He went through so much trouble, and it was a sweet gesture. “It all looks so good, Koda,” she said, looking back up at him.

MY EYELIDS KEPT WIDE OPEN - - - - - - - - - - so i can see all that you do Bridgett didn't look too amused at Koda. This only caused the man to sigh somewhat softly. She made a mistake, he made a mistake, but dealing with her, he had to come out. Let her just 'win', for he just wanted everything to be back to normal already. He wanted to hold her, to hiss her, receive love and affection, being told everything's alright, being told that he's loved and wanted... The usual lovey-dovey stuff. He tried to, well, get her to stay somewhat. After all, this was what he had planned. To state that he was sorry for his behavior – he didn't understand what she went through in the past, and hopefully to “make-up”. And continue on as if nothing happened. First time he yelled at her and hopefully it will be the last. Koda expected something more than a few words form her like that. She didn't sound too amused at all, and it hurt a little for he was sincere and serious. So, the man got closer to her and managed to give her a kiss on the lips. He took note of her hands crawling up to wrap themselves around his neck as well as her lips press against his, but there was one thing she didn't do.
...Say I love you back.
Koda tried to advert his slightly hurt look elsewhere and merely talked about the food he made for her. Letting her go to the table, Koda went and got some of the other food that he left on the stove on low to still be warm/hot for her when she came over. Putting it on the table, Koda took a seat next to her with Nevermore at his side. He knew begging was pointless with Koda but you never knew when something just might accidentally fall on the floor. That was his domain. “I made all your favorite foods. Literally.” Yeah he could have gotten stuff and just warmed it up, but he went through the process of making it all on his own from scratch and hopefully she saw that too. “Good, hm?” Eating a little bit and letting her eat as well as answer if she did, Koda decided to try this again, “I hope you know that I do love you.” Would she say it back or just shrug it off? He wasn't whipped or a push-over, he just wanted to show some affection... And hope she felt the same.

To Bridget, she hadn’t made a mistake. She did what she always did when she was afraid; she sought comfort with the only person she knew who could understand how she felt. Vivie Delaynee knew exactly how to help her daughter and that was what Bridget needed. Besides, she wasn’t even in New York while Koda was in the hospital. And it would have killed her, seeing him in that hospital bed, completely helpless. She was too used to him being strong, healthy; alive. She couldn’t see him laying weak and fragile in a hospital bed. She couldn’t be there if somehow there was a complication; it would have killed her. And Koda wasn’t able to see that. She could tell him a million times how she felt and it was like it just went over his head; like he was still so stuck on the fact that she wasn’t at the hospital. Hell, she even avoided the damn sterile, white walled building when she was sick!
But Bridget was a big believer in second chances, so that was what Koda was going to get. One more misstep and she was completely done; there would be no going back to him. She wouldn’t forget it, though she could forgive it and put it away, but he was going to have to work his ass off trying to get back on her good side. She loved him, but she was so pissed off at him that she couldn’t tell him. And since he yelled at her for not showing up at the hospital, she wasn’t about to fall into his chest, bawling her eyes out, glad that he was okay and going to be just fine once he was all healed up.
She would admit, she was surprised at the table’s setup. Normally she wouldn’t think about Mexican food with something off the kids menu at McDonald’s but there was clearly at lot of time and effort put in from Koda to make Bridget stay; it was the least she could do, stay and at least enjoy some food. “I can see that,” she said, putting this and that onto her plate. Seeing Nevermore sitting nicely next to his owner had Bee looking around for her two devils in disguise. She saw them after a few seconds, Heathcliff sprawled on the floor right in front of the couch with Catherine draped over him like a scarf, as per usual. Tentatively, she took a bite from a chicken nugget. “It’s good,” she agreed, moving to take a bite from the quesadilla she’d taken. “Did you happen to pick up salsa?” she asked, thinking it impolite to search his cupboards and refrigerator considering what they’d gone through in the past little while. She didn’t need to give him another reason, in his eyes, to yell at her.
She closed her eyes and sighed. “I know you do, and I would hope you know how I feel. I’m still just too pissed to say it back,” she said honestly, opening her blue eyes and looking over at her boyfriend. At this point, she didn’t even care anymore if he understood or not, it was how she felt. She knew feelings and emotions weren’t the easiest things to convey and she was hardly an expert at expressing herself vocally. She was so much better with the written word. But she was going to try and cage her rage and enjoy the meal set before her.

MY EYELIDS KEPT WIDE OPEN - - - - - - - - - - so i can see all that you do He made a mistake, but the man was clearly hurt. What if he was... Dying? He wouldn't see her face before he left this earth. Maybe one day he could ask her why she really hate hospitals? For now he just relied on what she yelled at him back and what he assumed. Fear and something bad in her past. Koda could recall that they didn't talk much about their pasts, it was more of a present thing or 'favorite this and that'. Though he'd save that for another day. Today was... Fragile. He had to be careful. He found the woman of his dreams and fucked up once. He needed to take things slow... Or so he thought. Take precaution and all that.
Walking over to the table, the two got their plates and sat down – getting food. Koda didn't get that much. When he was stressed it showed. He acted a little out of character. Like taking another walk or cleaning the chimney... Or not taking that much food. As a man of his persona, Koda ate a lot and with his high-metabolism, it was clearly gone. Though with one quesadilla and a few nuggets, skipping the salad, Koda didn't have that much on his plate. “Oh yeah, Hold on.” He spoke, removing himself from the seat before heading on over to the kitchen. Nevermore scooted a little bit closer to Koda's seat; those chocolate-brown eyes stared at Koda's food. He knew better than to act like an un-trained dog, but it was so tempting.
Koda soon returned with some salsa in a container. That was the only thing he didn't make. “It's medium spicy. Hope that's okay.” He spoke, finally taking his seat back down. Breaking the small ice that was covering them a bit, Koda decided to speak. Might not be something she'd like to hear but... “Well, since you aren't able to even say I love you back, then can you do something else?” He questioned, arching a brow. He hoped that she'd at least... Let him know what he was about to ask next. “Can you tell me if we're still together?” Would she be offended with that? He didn't know. He was offended with the whole I love you comment, but didn't make a scene with it much. She was too pissed to say it so if not saying that then just reassure him, let him know, tell him that they're still still together. So he knows that not everything was ruined for him.
With a sigh, Koda finished his food. Standing up, he took his plate and held out his hand when she was done, for her plate. “I'll take that.” If she gave him her plate, he went to the kitchen and washed the plates before putting them away. There wasn't much there so he just decided to clean and get it done and over with – putting them away after drying. Returning back to the living room was when Koda asked her a question. “Are you leaving or would you want to watch a movie with me?” He asked. The man didn't want to overstep any boundaries but he wouldn't lie; it would be nice to... Cuddle and watch a movie. Though with her, cuddling is probably out of the picture.

As much as she didn’t want to, Bridget understood where Koda was coming from. Unfortunately, the blonde professor was part of the select few that thought the opposite. Most people wanted their families and loved ones around them when they were lying helpless in hospital. Or taking their last breathes. Bridget didn’t want her loved ones to remember her helpless and broken. She wanted their last memories of her to be ones where she was strong, where she was laughing, having fun. Nothing had ever happened to Bee growing. Considering where she grew up, her life had been pretty dull. She’d only had one broken bone in twenty-six years and that was because when she’d been sixteen, the family had gone to Colorado for their Christmas vacation instead of New York and even now she wasn’t sure what happened exactly but she’d been on her snowboard going down the slopes and there was an accident at the bottom. She landed wrong and had to be rushed to hospital when the other person had finally been lifted from her.
“Great,” she said picking at her food. She wasn’t hungry and was only going through the motions of actually putting food in her mouth because he’d gone through all the trouble of putting everything together from scratch. She appreciated the gesture but she liked the breading on the nuggets, and she liked the way the Mexican restaurant two blocks in the other direction from her apartment made quesadillas. It was just little quirks about things that she liked but those things were going to stop her from putting in a little effort to eating the food on the table. “That’s fine,” she said, when Koda returned with the salsa. She continued picking at her food, taking a couple bites every now and then until Koda broke the silence that Bridget was enjoying. “Maybe,” she said, spooning a little bit of salsa onto a piece of quesadilla and taking a bite from it.
It was a good thing she’d swallowed the food in her mouth before he’d asked that because it sent her over the edge again. “You know, I don’t like seeing the ones I care for broken and helpless. I’d much rather think of them the last I saw them. Maybe it’s just me but I rather like thinking they’ll get better because I’ve not visited them,” she said pushing her plate away. She knew he was pissed at her, and annoyed she wouldn’t say those three words back to him. She couldn’t do it when she was that pissed off about it all. How was it acceptable for him to have opinions and concerns and she wasn’t? “You don’t hide your annoyance as well as you think. And to answer your questions, I don't know,” she added muttering. She crossed her arms across her chest and leaned back furrowing her brows. She could understand a lot, put up with a lot but what she could figure out was how his opinions, thoughts and everything else meant more than hers. “Whatever,” she said; pulling her phone from her pocket at the vibrations telling her there was a message of sorts coming through.
She might have been acting childish, like some sixteen year old but she didn’t care anymore. While she’d been gone she made a promise to herself that she was going to be like the old Bridget; the one from Las Vegas and not the girl that moved to New York. For whatever reason, when she moved she lost that girl that she used to be and she was going to be that girl once again. There was nothing weak, naïve or worst of all fragile about her. And she would be damned if people thought that of her. She was tiny, but that meant absolutely nothing. Bridget put her phone away when Koda came back into the room. “I can’t. I’ve got to get back home and get ready. I made plans with Paisley and she’s texted to remind me of them,” she said, looking up at Koda, begging him to say something about it.

MY EYELIDS KEPT WIDE OPEN - - - - - - - - - - so i can see all that you do Was he expecting too much from her? Maybe... He didn't think so, though. The man just wanted for her to drop her angered persona and give him the old Bridget back. He was sorry, sincerely too. Even made her the favorite foods of hers that he remembered and knew of. She didn't have to kiss him or do anything under the sheets with him... Just some security like an “I love you” would suffice for Koda right now... And the woman didn't even give him that. Just three little words... That meant a lot to Koda. He made a mistake, he knew it. There were two sides of the same coin... Both were right and both were wrong in their ways... Yet she kept on giving him this attitude like she was right, he was wrong, and no matter what he did, she wasn't happy. Still pissed at him? When will it end, he thought.
He tried his best to... Keep quiet. She was angered or what he considered a 'fragile' state. Anything he can say and would probably wouldn't benefit him... And probably might piss her off. Like now. He just wanted to know one thing... If she can't even say three simple words; where do they stand? Did she still love him? Did she still care underneath all that anger towards him and his mistake? “I know if I saw your face, I'd feel invincible. I'd heal quicker for you were by me. But that just doesn't matter now.” He stopped his speech. She was bringing up the past and he followed suit for a bit before stopping it short. Koda just... He didn't want to argue again or bring it all back up. She was angry and so doing that was just bad.
Though when she said “whatever”, Koda's expression softened.
It softened into a more sad-looking way. “Whatever? So I'm whatever? Well that's lovely to know.” His tone was obviously hurt. Much like her in a fragile state, so was Koda, but he was trying his best to be strong and well, watch what he said. He just wanted her back in his arms, with security that everything was going to be fine. Apparently that was too much to ask for.
“Whatever...” He repeated, sighing softly shortly after. Grabbing some of the leftover food, he took it all to the kitchen, wrapped it up, put some in containers, and put them in the fridge for later use. He had a feeling he wouldn't be eating them if he felt like this tomorrow, but he'd try not to waste. When he came back, he asked if she wanted to stay. Apparently she had plans... “Can't you tell her you're hanging out with your bo- friend and to reschedule?” He was whatever, right? Why was he trying to get her to stay? She obviously didn't want to. “If not then... See you later I hope.” He spoke, taking a few steps towards her and giving her a kiss on the lips. Boyfriend, friend, he still cared about her. “Love you...”

She wasn’t so much mad as she had given up on it all. It was just too difficult to fight her case when he wasn’t having any part of it. It didn’t seem to matter what she said, it just wasn’t registering with the cop. And she couldn’t do anything to change that. He went through all the trouble of making her favourite foods but she was still too depressed about it all that it wasn’t working for her. Not even purposefully meaning to, she was finding faults in everything because he had said what he did and done what he did. She didn’t take to being yelled at well, and especially when she felt she was in the right and in her own home. Had she told her father what had sent his only daughter home nearly two months early, she wouldn’t have come home alone; or at all if he’d had his way. “I wouldn’t want anyone seeing me in hospital,” she said, honestly, giving him a little more insight into her past and feelings on the whole matter.
She was annoyed, she was pissed off. She had a right to be those things. “Right now that’s the case,” she muttered under her breathe, low enough that he couldn’t hear her. Bridget’s hand automatically dropped to the phone in her front pocket as her blue eye’s narrowed. “Um, no, I can’t just drop every plan I’ve made just because you have the time to spare for me,” she said, shaking her head. She whistled for Katherine and Heathcliff as she stood. “Don’t mean to eat and run but, I am not a quick change artist,” she said, putting her shoes back on and clipping leashes to collars. “Bye,” she said, shutting the door behind her and practically running back to her apartment. She didn’t know what she wanted wear but she knew she wanted to dress up for once.
