Crystal frowned at the pages of her notepad, several of which had fledgling song lyrics scrawled across them. Come on, she thought to herself, You can do this. You've got that original song assignment coming due, so you'd better come up with something. She glanced down at the page in front of her, hoping to find some inspiration in the scatter words she'd already written. She paused when she saw the word "flow" written in one corner of the page. She smiled; she'd written that as a reminder to herself to keep the words flowing in her mind, but i hadn't occurred to her that it might make a good song lyric "Okay," she muttered allowed, tapping her pen against the page, "Now I just need something to pair it with," she muttered. She closed her eyes and tried to come up with something, but she couldn't pin it down. She felt like her mind was in a state of flux. "Hmmm," she muttered, "Flux." She took her pen and wrote the word next to "flow" on the page. She took a deep breath and decided to try out the combination.
"Flux and flow," she sang, her voice coming out loud and clear. She grinned to herself. That would sound great as part of a chorus. Now she just needed something to go with it. She quickly scratched "Highs and lows" near the center of the page and circled it. That was what flux and flow really meant, after all. The fact that it happened to rhyme was just icing on the cake. Satisfied with her progress so far, she decided to stretch her legs. She pushed off the wall behind her, climbed to her feet, and began to walk, humming a tune to her newly created lyrics as she went.
