The first thing Andrea always did after getting home from work was change her clothes. She loved her job, wanting to push herself further with it, but she still felt that relief and relaxation wash over her once she was back in her denim shorts and casual t-shirt, usually with a bikini underneath since she often took a second trip to water. Swimming was another great way to shut her mind off after work, especially if it had been a day where she had been chasing people down with phone calls. It was sometimes enough to make Andy turn her own cell phone off and blame a dead battery if anyone struggled to get a hold of her. Today was no different and once she was out of her more professional looking outfit, the blonde fact-checker headed to the pool and spent an hour losing her daily stresses in the fast lane, swimming until she felt that satisfying ache in her shoulders.
After that, with her hair still damp, she headed further away from the apartment and chose to cross off a few of the errands she had been neglecting recently. She had a few things to pick up for her job and then made a detour to the store to grab a few groceries. The only problem with that was that Andy got bored and frustrated in places like that, especially when she was on her own, so the trip was cut short and she knew that half of the essentials were not in the back of her car. There would always be another time for that, she decided, knowing that this wasn’t the first or the last time that it would happen. She sent a quick text to Nell before dropping the shopping at home, barely paying attention as she alternated slotting purchases into the kitchen and sending rapid fire messages to her college buddy and best friend.
Andy, some nights, did curl up on the couch and relax, but she was fidgeting this evening and while a night out was a terrible choice, she couldn’t find any harm in just catching a movie and maybe one drink after that. It would definitely beat pacing the apartment looking for something to do and getting bored with every possible option. Letting Nell know of her plans with another quick text, Andy grabbed her keys, ignored her jackets and headed out to Tribeca. She could grab some snacks there and just pick a film from whatever selection they had to pass a bit of time. She was back in work in the morning, so it wouldn’t be a crack of dawn stagger home, but Andy had never really been one for the cosy nights in front of the television with a cup of tea and a blanket. Parking up and heading inside, her eyes scanned the list for a movie and then she stepped up to pay for a ticket, smiling warmly at the cute guy working behind the divide. It was going well, until a group of irritating teenagers in the snack queue started annoying her. They were shoving and jostling each other about until eventually one of them fell into another girl, who hardly looked impressed. That didn’t stop them from causing bother though, and Andy was right on the verge of opening her mouth and giving them something to really go home and tell their parents about when instead she felt a hand on her shoulder and she snapped her head around with a lukewarm glare in place, just in case she needed it.
